Two very qualified fellows showed up and efficiently installed everything for a fair price (make sure you know what you're doing when engaging in a "labor-only" deal, as you MUST supply every last nut and bolt). ProTech has also stood behind its warranty on the first set of mini-splits that it installed. This can be a fairly tricky area, and it's good that ProTech has got techs who've been around long enough to amass the experiential knowledge that figures into system longevity. A word about Heating and Cooling systems and customer satisfaction: A lot can go into making a customer happy. I've seen instances where an HVAC company installed a new system and yet it just didn't cool enough -- but the problem was with leaky duct work in the attic, something the homeowner just didn't want to address but instead blamed the latest guy to come along. Other times, an installer just didn't pay attention and overtightened a critical joint, or failed to properly flare a connection. Sometimes a customer gripe is justified, sometimes not. Simple ignorance and neglect can cost both money and reputation. It's thus critical to hire a company that sends highly expertised techs to your home or business. One wrong move can doom you to a lot of aggravation. I'm grateful that ProTech, while not cheap, has got quality staff (they even advised me on what brands to stay away from when I opted to buy a system online for them to install) -- right down to the pleasant gals who answer the phone. No one has tried to snow me, and ProTech validates the "you get what you pay for" maxim. One final tip: Search for "how to install" videos of the HVAC system you're thinking of, then watch them. Often they'll contain tips on installation mistakes and improved ways of doing things. I did that for my latest mini-split system, then watched ProTech's guys install it. Without getting in their way, I asked them about each video tip/warning, and they patiently explained each part of the process as they went. I came away satisfied that I got the best possible installation for a top-rated system.

He talked to me about this issue and said maybe he could get his father to come out. The father did in fact come out. He likes to talk and looked the situation over. He thought he could fix the issue for me. Keep in mind, he's telling me his son is really bad sick. I believe what he said. He even called me a couple of days later to ask me what all I had that was a power draw from the house, like dryer, hot water tank, etc. He said he was prepared to do it but only waiting for a price. Very nice guy. He was someone who enjoyed talking. He was a good conversationalist and I didn't mind talking with it. I did have to let him go as I had an appointment to keep. That's the last I ever heard of him. Maybe something more serious came up with the health of his son but I'm not sure. Given his attitude, I would have thought that if he had to leave to take care of his son that he'd at least call and let me know he couldn't do the job as he'd planned. He knew I had no heat in the house other than a fireplace. It was cold. No heat, no hot water, limited in cooking with a camp stove but he just disappeared. I called 14 companies, four came out to look at it and only two offered to fix it. Mr. D. was one of them but then he just disappear without a trace leaving me literally in the dark. He could have called and let me know something. I wouldn't have waited more days to try to find someone. The last guy that came out said he could fix it and at that point, I didn't even ask him how much he was going to charge.
