Randy and his crew did a great job with our deck extension project. He came out at the scheduled time to give us a quote. I found it to be reasonable, and I also had some great feedback from a coworker that had them build a deck last year. The lumber was delivered and we were ready for the work to begin. They got to work as scheduled, and the only delay was one rainy day. Outside of that, the job was completed within the estimated timeline. I was pleased to walk out the door we had added onto our new elevated deck. You could tell it was a sturdy well constructed deck. The crew was polite and all business. They cleaned up the job site, and you couldn't even tell that they were just there and just built a deck. Walked out on the job just after 3-4 hours of work in my home. His lead worker mentioned that the lumber they purchased for our deck is bad and when we asked him not to install that lumber, he walked out and never came back. He was paid half of the total price of the contract, he refused to complete the job and also refused to return the down payment or part of it back! I had a great experience with Randy and his guys. Randy was very friendly and helpful. I felt like he was giving me a fair price. He was a bit disorganized and I had to follow up with him a couple of times to ensure the appointment, but the quality of his work and his price were great. I would happily use him again. read more

Randy and his crew built the most beautiful covered porch for us last fall. He was right on target with the bid, although, as with any project, we added features as we went along, thus raising the final price. That being said, Randy was fair, upfront and very accomodating. As consumers, we need to be fair to contractors, we ask for a firm price on a project and then change the project, that isn't right. My experience with Randy was that he was honest, fair and very easy to work with. We asked Randy to come back to check on an issue with the deck, he arrived at our home in 15 minutes and is scheduled to return with materials to fix the issue. 5/29/12 When I left this review the owner of this company Randy Everhart sent this message to me knowing that my father had passed away last summer from pancreatic cancer just before my daughter was born so he never got to meet her. He knew that I was doing the outdoor space for my children in honor of his memory: "There is obviously something mentally wrong with you. I bet your father would be proud......." Ask youself if this is the type of person you want working for you and YOUR family? Do you even have to read the rest of the review? (Do be sure to read through screened reviews to the first one discussing his bankruptsy in 2011 and the guy he screwed over.) Original review: 3 mos he screwed around, one excuse after another. Disorganized, had to call repeatedly to ask the status. Tried to get me to pay more for him to do the job in the time frame he stated because he said he under bid. Then acted irritated when I said no. Never called when he was supposed to call and never did what he was supposed to do until finally, 3 mos in, a week before my job is supposed to be DONE, it was never even started and we said we're DONE with this crap! I have no doubt the work would have been quality, but first you have to show up to do the work.. no thanks. NEVER did I try to add extras unless I paid for them, YOU did however try to sell me a bunch of crap I didn't want and try to get me to pay more over and over again. Your original bid was 15k for the large portion of the job + 2k for the small portion of the job.. which you somehow ended up charging me 20k which I agreed to because you found out that was what I had saved up and then backed me into a corner with a sob story (apparently a door/screen door and ceiling fan cost 3k I guess? Those were the only extras I asked for.), and then you wanted 24k when you knew it was too late for me to get the job done in time by anyone else??? He didn't appear to have a clue from one visit to the next what he said or what we discussed lost his notes and never even filed for the engineering report or permit from the city which was a HUGE red flag. Bid me a screen porch with cedar then snuck in to the 2nd drawing after I refused to pay more than he bid "treated NO cedar." (His exact words were "You mean you won't pay me more if I get your job done on time?") Refusing to work for someone means that you say "I'm sorry, I don't think I want to work for you." Screwing around and not doing the work you sign on for, trying to force someone into paying more for work than you originally bid it, and lying time and time again about why and when you will or will not be showing up to work after promising you can do something in a certain time frame (I gave you a 2 month window already for a 2 week job.), costs you business. Those things result in negative comments. FINALLY tells me he can't start the 3rd week in a row following the date he promised (over a month in advance) because he lost an entire crew. LOST a entire CREW??? Why does that happen? #1 because you can't pay them, #2 because they walk off the job for some other reason.. this does NOT happen to quality businesses. I found Randy and Pro-Deck & Design's website via Craiglist. I called Randy and he came out immediately to give us a quote. After getting a couple of different bids, we chose Randy based upon both price and overall level of professionalism. We are thrilled with the way our deck turned out! Very high quality and looks fantastic. Randy and his team are very hard workers, did not take breaks, and finished the job right on time. I chose Pro Deck & Design because of the name--Deck AND Design. After calling Randy and having my initial meeting with him, I realized I called the right person. He had great ideas for redesigning and reconfiguring my old deck. Within just a couple of weeks, down came the old one and up went the new. I love it! Randy & his crew were great workers, very courteous, cleaned up their mess and left me with a deck that I've enjoyed every single day since. I just wish I could post a picture on yelp.
