FINALLY! A groomer who actually listens, how about that?? We have 4 dogs, 3 are easy to keep up but our 5 year old golden doodle has stubborn fur, must be brushed, kept neat or it gets nasty. Was referred to Tammy at Pro Groom. Yesterday she spent at least 3 hours and fluffed up our boy like a show dog. Best groom he has had in 4 years! Their shop is clean, the dogs are not jammed in tiny crates, air conditioned comfort. Our Jameson is a neurotic boy, usually when I pick him up after his day of beauty he acts like he is shell shocked. Yesterday happy, wagging, and looking good. Tammy will be our regular 25-30 day like clock work groomer, their pricing is amazing for the work involved and if you want worry free handling of your beloved pet? PRO GROOM people, outstanding. Got fed up with our local Auburn groomers being lazy, shaving the dog, one even had our boy for 8 hours because they were overbooked. Um no thank you. Well worth the drive! And you people complaining about bringing shot records? Make a photo copy, bring in with your dog, or go away and bathe pet yourself. Leaves more appointment times for people like us! Found them from Yelp and so happy I did. My fiancé has a yellow lab and has never taken her to her groomed. Well now that she is mine, I wanted to take care of her. Our biggest problem is shedding. Her hair is everywhere and now in clumps. I originally planned on shaving her for the summer, however when I called to schedule an appt, the gal on the phone was so helpful and explained to me the pros and cons of shaving a lab. Then she told me about the "furminator" process. I decided to go the furminator route because we can always go back to have her shaved. The treatment also included nails, ears and teeth! Score! When we picked her up, she looked so happy and smelled so good! It's only been day 1 but the shedding and clumps of hair has dramatically decreased. Lee was her groomer, she was very helpful and thorough with our dogs treatment. You can tell she really loves dogs and her job. Happy we ended up with her. We plan to take her once a month for the next two months to try to really get a hold of all of this hair! I love how much she smells however, so this may end up being a monthly thing. read more

We have been bringing our dog into ProGroom for over a year now. The service and his appearance after the last several visits had started declining, but we thought we would give them one last chance to keep our business...what a mistake!! My husband was very specific about his cut, and when we picked him up, the groomer obviously did not listen. When we got him home, we noticed a mark on his belly and blood from a cut on his bottom, near his tail! That is absolutely not exceptable!! You had to have known you had cut him considering it was bleeding and probably caused him pain!! I am absolutely appalled that the groomer did not mention any of these things when we were picking him up; things happen, and I would have understood if she had explained what happened. The only thing we got was an attitude!! We will never come back to this establishment. You should have more consideration for your customers!! read more

I will NEVER bring my animals here nor recommend this place to any animal lover. I waited one month to get an appt for my 2 cats. When the appt was being made I was never told they needed to have a rabies shot. The day before the appt we get an email stating they need to have updated rabies shot. Of course at this point it's too late to have that done. I called to ask if they could make an exception as my one cat was only expired by a few weeks. I spoke with Sally who was unapologetic and rude. In fact she told me if I didn't like it to go somewhere else. She also stated this is your responsibility which I agree with.. I asked that she tell her customers when the appts being made. I have had my cats for 13 years, shaving them two times a year and never once have they needed a rabies shot prior. I would never drop off my babies to a place with such rude staff and nor should you. I will happily go somewhere else as there are many options and spend my money with people who are kind and polite. read more

The. Best. My dog got sprayed by a skunk at 5am. I washed him, but let's be real, that did nothing. I started calling everyone when they opened. These guys were able to get me in at 2pm. They did a great job with him. Not only is he mostly smell free (it's a skunk, nothing is 100%), he's so soft and stoic looking. Great customer service. Will come back. read more

I have taken my dogs (Westie & Yorkie) to ProGroom for about 4 years now and was happy with the service I received. My Westie dislikes the grooming process and can be a handful, but our groomer handled her like a pro. Unfortunately, our groomer has moved out of state, so we have been assigned a new groomer. When I picked up my dogs last month after their appointment, I noticed a "odd" look from the young girl that works behind the desk when she brought my dogs to me. I was in a hurry, so I didn't notice until I unloaded the dogs from the car that my Westie was squinting in one eye and had "tears" leaking from the eye. I debated about taking her to the vet, but my other dog just recovered from an eye infection, so I used her eye drops on on the Westie. It took three days of medication for her eye to heal and she was pretty uncomfortable for a day or two, I know my Westie can be a handful sometimes and accidents happen, but I expect to be notified when something happens so I can ensure my dog is OK and I can work with them to prevent something similar from happening in the future. For this reason, I am now planning to use another grooming service from now on. read more

This place just moved to Roseville Parkway right by our house, so I suggested to my husband that he at least check it out since he could walk our dog there. He went in to make an appointment, and there were three people there, one man working on a dog, and two women at the computer trying to figure something out. He asked multiple times what the price is, and was very specific about what size and type of dog and what kind of hair, but they still would not give an exact price, which I think is very scary but he's not as wary of things like that. He still made an appointment, but left feeling strange about the whole thing. They also said that they were SUPER busy, which seemed hard to believe since there were multiple grooming stations but only one dog being groomed. A girl called and left a message on our machine on the day before the apppointment, and instead of the usual cheery "hi! This is so and so from pro groom, we're looking forward to seeing Goldie tomorrow blah blah" that I'm used to hearing from the vet and from grooming places, it was more like (monotone) "this is pro groom calling, Goldie's appointment is tomorrow at 9 thank you". Very boring, blah, no name, didn't seem to CARE. Just like the people in the shop didn't seem to care. I told him to cancel the appointment and just wait until our regular groomer was available. Tammy made our poodle beautiful! I tried to groom her myself and realky butchered her fur and made her look ridiculous. Tammy fixed it and made her absolutely gorgeous. They even flea treated her, cleaned her ears and clipped her claws. We will be going back for sure! read more

I have had my dog (Lhasa Apso) groomed by a mobile groomer, Pet Smart and a few times by Pro Groom (on Pleasant Grove). 3 times at Pro Groom went well, then the gentleman that did her left. I have since had 3 other people work on her (the tall guy with glasses, a sweet lady with dark hair and Whitney) and each time there was an issue! All three times, she bled. They have cut the pad of her foot twice and this last time cut her front nails SO short that 6 out of the 8 bled that evening and there was blood ALL over my carpet. Then I notice that they had razor burned under her front legs so bad, she was nearly bleeding. I called the shop and spoke to Sally, who claimed to be the owner/manager who was no help at all. She proceeded to tell me the razor burns were my fault because she was SO severely matted (I had brushed her that morning!)...I have taken her there before when she WAS matted and there was no problem. It is my fault for returning there when they were obviously negligent but will DEFINITELY not be returning! read more

Beware. Last appointment I had was in November. They injured my my one year old yorkie. When I picked him up, 3 hrs after dropping him off there he couldn't walk at all. I've spent 3 months worth of vet visits and medications and specialist visits that were an hr drive for me each time. The injury they caused him was to the spine. I was 6 months pregnant when this happened, it caused a tremendous amount of stress to us. After 3 months, the specialist confirmed upon the last visit that my dogs injury had now healed however he has permanent damage. When he walks or runs its sideways and he can no longer go up and down the stairs at our house or even jump up on the couch. My one year old yorkie is now a handicap dog for the rest of his life. read more

My 7 month old Schnauzer is a bit fearful, so I wanted to make sure she had a good first experience at Pro-Groom. I also looked into two mobile pet grooming places but both businesses were not taking any new clients. When I stopped by Pro-Groom to check out the place I spoke to the groomer, Martin, who came highly recommended. I explained that my dog was fearful etc and he recommended that her first grooming should be quick...in and out...and that waiting in a crate may aggravate her first stay. The following day, I dropped her off at 8:15 and she was done in just over an hour. They appear to groom most of the dogs where one can see what they are doing. Martin asked me to bring pictures as examples and listened well as to what I wanted. I was not looking for the standard Schnauzer cut. I also asked Martin to let me know how my dog behaved. Evidently some groomers won't be up front because they don't want to lose your business. He said my pup was barking during the blow dry and bath but was fine with the cut. Tammy is by far the only person who can groom my dogs exactly the way I want them to look like. I always ask for the very simple shave down for my schnauzer with a short face but she never came out that way. Most groomers I've been gone to would give her the standard schnauzer cut even when I specifically ask them not to. My poodle came out looking super cute and Tammy has extensive knowledge on poodles. The prices are reasonable as well. $50 for my schnauzer's full groom and $35 for my toy poodle's face, feet, and tail. Definitely will become a regular customer. read more

They hurt my dog!. I will never go back! I took my little poodle mix there for grooming. When I picked him up he had puncture wounds on the tips of both ears and he looked shell-shocked. It took almost a month before he got over the trauma. The scabs on both his ears indicated to me that someone had used an instrument to clamp his ears while clipping and it caused wounds on his ears that didn't heal for weeks. I've read about abuse and neglect at groomers and never thought my pet would be a victim. read more

We have been going here for 4 years and last week we took our dog for his bath and nails, which is done every two weeks. I noticed that his toenails had been clipped very short but my husband said Martin told him to put stuff on them to stop the bleeding.. After a few days, I noticed my dog limping on his foot and looked to see what the problem was.. I was horrified by what I saw !! Martin had CUT his toenails into the quick and nerves... and one was still bleeding... I called my vet and took him in.. They had never seen such a horrific thing done to a dog.. She said she wouldn't even had done that if the dog was asleep..also said the dog must have screamed in pain because it had to have been torture for him to stand there and have both front feet cut into the nerves..... Now my dog is on antibiotics and it cost me $90 for the vet visit.. Needless to say, I will NEVER take my dogs back and encourage anyone reading this NOT TO LEAVE YOUR PET IN THE HANDS OF MARTIN... read more

We have been taking our two standard poodles to Martin for years now. They used to be in the old downtown area but now have a nicer shop on Roseville Parkway. Martin does the best job on our poodles than any other we could find in the last 15 years. I was surprised at the negative reviews, but reading the others it appears some have unrealistic expectations. With our high maintenance dogs we haven't found the perfect groomer (if one exists) but have been very satisfied with Pro-Groom. read more

I have been following a certain groomer for several years. He has been grooming and showing dogs since the 70s. I was over joyed when he moved from Chico to Sacramento. Although it took a while to locate him, I found him at Pro-Groom. I have a couple of dogs and Martin has been grooming them for years. Not only is he the perfect groomer, he is the only groomer, that I have found, that will go the extra mile for me. He has accepted my last minute walk-ins and has offered to pick up one of my dogs- these being my own fault from time management. Do not go here.The first time I went here they did a good job. However I noticed he seemed very nervous when I picked him up. Never had this problem with previous groomers. Should have listened to my gut feeling. The next visit I picked up my dog, he could not walk, urinate or go to the bathroom on his own. I brought him to the vet. He put him on anti inflamatories,two different pain medicines. He would cry whenever I picked him up. It took him about one month before he just started to be his old self. He is still sensitive to this day.He had trauma to his hips, spine area. When I left him at pro groom he was a very energetic and healthy dog and when I picked him up he couldn't walk. read more

I found this place on yelp. I was looking for a new place to get my beloved miniature schnauzer groomed, after several bad hair cuts at Petsmart. I called and they were able to fit her in that same day. I dropped her off around noon and by 2:00 they called me saying she was ready. Hayley got one of the best hair cuts she's ever had!!
