My computer was slowing down, unbelievably slow. I wasn't ready for a new computer of the touch screen variety, which is what I am looking to in the future. And, in semi-retirement I still have work to do but not a lot of resources or the desire to step into a learning curve. It was at this juncture I became aware of a new type of hard drive, a solid state drive. I was told that these drives are 10 times faster than conventional hard drives. That was an interesting prospect and I continued to explore the possibilities. Bringing over all the information on my current hard drive made me break out in a sweat. After stopping in a local store front office for tech support and getting what I feel were all the wrong answers, I decided to go to Google to find a computer tech person to pursue the option I was looking to implement. There I found Pro Tech Guy. The reason I decided to contact Pro Tech Guy was because they are close to me and have a FIVE STAR rating on Google. I used the form on the Pro Tech Guy's site to ask about having the work done. I got an immediate response, with more than I had hoped for. I was told I would receive a proposal to read and sign by the next day, and if I chose to sign the agreement, there would be a chance to have the work done overnight with my computer only tied up for two half days. Then, the biggest issue was answered. I was told that they could clone my machine and I would receive my laptop back with a screen looking exactly like the one I have now, with no worry about losing any files or info or settings. Game on. The price was right on the proposal and I signed and returned it. Next day, I got to meet, Kyle - Pro Tech Guy. He took care of the work on my computer himself and the rest is history. The new hard drive was installed and I picked up my computer the day after. I am so glad I decided to make this change and go with the new drive instead of a new computer. I have been fortunate enough to work with Pro Tech Guy on multiple occasions, more specifically Kyle. He is reliable, honest, and a very efficient technician. On one occasion he built a desktop computer from scratch for our family. Another time we had him remove a virus from one of our laptops and then he installed his own managed anti-virus program... let's just say we haven't had a problem since! Prices are extremely reasonable, simply because I know I am getting quality work with a quick turn-around time. He can usually fix our problems remotely. I very rarely write reviews, but Kyle @ Pro Tech Guy did such an outstanding job that I have become a convert, and have to preach. The entire process went extremely smooth, and Kyle was always quick to reply and keep me in the loop. Although his focus is primarily serving businesses, he helped me with my residential computer issue, fixing it in a very timely fashion and charging what I thought was a reasonable fee for his services. I made the unfortunate mistake of putting my son's gaming computer on the ironing board, of course it came crashing down, The video input would not work and I took it to Protech. He looked it over, engaged some cables and it was back up and running. He refused payment from me and so I never write reviews but feel like I owe him something. I brought my older PC in for repair. There was an issue with the graphics chip. They were able to keep it running with a work around that was just a software fix. I was so pleased. I needed a laptop screen replaced. His website said $149, and that was the price. He ran a diagnostic that showed a possible issue with the hard drive and discussed what could be done, but there was no hard sell when I decided to just take it with the new screen. read more
