Went in with my 2013 ram the transmission was shifting very rough and fluctuating randomly. It was probably pretty short of blowing. They got into it told me what the price would be, the estimate that they had given me before they told me the total price was in the same ballpark so that was great. They, they gave me all the info upfront and even had in-house options for financing. It only took them about 4 to 5 days to do the transmission. I don't like to leave bad reviews, I think for the most part they're counterproductive however, the guy who owns and runs the shop is probably the worst person when it comes to customer service. I have never dealt with someone so rude that is supplying a service to me and wants my money. So short on the phone and in person as well. At no point did I ever feel like a valued customer. He was a reference to me from my mechanic. Because he does transmissions. I do believe that the technicians in the garage do a good job however the front of their office, needs to be overhauled. His wife is super sweet. She was super nice. And it's unfortunate that I will not recommend this company to anybody because of him. Not to mention while my truck was there they left it outside and thieves stole my catalytic converter. They did replace the catalytic converter but didn't install it correctly. They used band clamps with sockets instead of welding it in place like they should have. And didn't even bother to tell me that that had happened. I found out as I was on the freeway and one of the band clamps blew apart. It's best that you just go somewhere else. read more

These guys performed maintenance on my transmission June 2021. October I needed a new transmission. Oct 19 I picked up my car and rebuilt transmission and drove 3blocks home. My car never drove again after PRO TRANSMISSION worked on my car. They broke the connectors to my Power Control Module, the locks were gone and the other side of the connector was seized in the PCM. He, Al didn't tell me they broke my PCM, I had it towed to 3 different mechanics trying to figure out why my car won't run. Al, who is a rude and ruthless man charged me $2700 for a transmission and when he was done my car never ran again. It's a total loss. I didn't put 1 mile on that transmission. I recommend do not go to PRO TRANSMISSION, Al is nasty and he vandalized my car and charged me $2700 plus mechanic fees to find out what that worthless man did to my car. Save your car and money and go anywhere but Pro Transmission!!! read more

My car is been there for about 6 weeks. (Al) I believe is the name of the owner in there, he is the one who set an appointment up, for me to drop my car off for inspection, it is a Subaru baja After inspecting my vehicle he called me on my cellphone to tell me that parts are no longer available due to the vehicle's year and model, I thank him and told him that I would pick up my car back before the afternoon. 15 minutes later after that phone call, my phone rang, it was him saying that he could get the parts after all, he said it was going to take about a week,he also said my transmission repair will cost me 3,500.00 to what I agreed. A week went by he didn't call back, I waited 2 more days, I called him he answered, he told me parts came in but one sensor was wrong so he had to reorder it, he call about a week after the last phone call, so I being patient because I understand some times we deal with things we have no control on. Today is February 22nd year 2022 and I called Al a week ago,he said he got the right part but his mechanic got infected with covid, since I didn't hear from him yesterday Monday, again, today is Tuesday February 22nd he told me the bearing arrived yesterday Monday and that his mechanic just got back from a funeral. Wait Al, I said, you told me last week you had it, and it was a sensor, not a bearing, he started yelling at me he would not listen then I told him I want my old parts back, he said I should have asked for them from the beginning, I said at least this last one, you are installing today he refused, he continued yelling, last thing I heard was him saying have a good morning, hanging the phone up on me with out listening at what I had to say, I immediately went to the shop, I asked him why he hung up on me, he denied it, I asked him to show me the vehicle, I wanted to see how much progress they had, in a bad manner he got off his desk, yelling at me,he said you want to talk to my mechanic, out the office he came and in to the shop, I followed him, there! He said pointing at a transmission sitting on a work bench, now you can kiss it and hug it, I don't like your attitude, you're going to have to tone it down I answered, after all it happened he said tomorrow it will be done This review is based on today's experience. Horrible place to take your car. I went for a cracked transmission pan. 3 weeks later and $1,900 I picked up my car to find it making horrible noises the car is making puttering noises and does not excel like it should. Took the car back twice no help. Took it to another shop to find out I have a cracked mount on the transmission what did I pay $1,900 for. Called the shop to get paper work on exactly what they fixed and they tell me they don't have it and when they get it they will mail it out to me. Don't use this rip off shop. read more

A real diamond in the rough! I have to admit that I am very impressed with Pro Transmissions and its owner Al. Anybody that goes to have their transmission looked at because of a problem is always VERY weary of mechanics, because hey, most of us don't know that much about cars, and we sure don't know how much repairs should cost. Al makes you feel very comfortable and tells you the way it is. They spent a few hours checking over everything and gave me the best deal they could, which was about 14% lower than another shop had quoted me a week earlier. My transmission purrs like a kitten now and I am very happy. You are in good hands with these guys! read more

We heard about this place after our regular mechanics gave us a list of company who could help with our Jeep that was having issues with the accelerator. We spoke to a women who was very polite and indicated they could check out the vehicle at no charge. After dropping the vehicle off for a few hours the owner Al called to indicate what the issue "could be" and that it would cost $900. After asking him to give me to the end of the week to find the money. Then suddenly it was $200 to look at the car. I told him I was told there would be no charge to look at the car? His response? " I didn't think you would do this to me? I'm not gonna argue with you. I'll put the pieces back on and if it leaks it leaks!" Then hangs up on me!!! Mind you I never said I wouldn't have it done! I just needed three days! Never had I experience someone be so overly dramatic and throw a tantrum because I couldn't complete the transaction that day!? Then after picking up the car he tells me "We're here whenever you need it fixed and remember we've been here for 30 years" As if someone how that would make me forget his ridiculous temper tantrum and idiotically hand over my money to this ass. read more

My friend scheduled an appointment to have his transmission looked at, and when we arrived the lady told us that she forgot to schedule an appointment and no one could see us. All it would've took was five minutes for a mechanic to listen to his car, terrible. read more

This shop is advertising that it is BBB accredited. It is not. They were recommended to us by our mechanic who we trusted. The following is my actual experience with Al and Pro Transmission- no exaggeration: On August 24, we took the vehicle in and were told that there was no fee to diagnose the vehicle. A week later, Al contacts us and tells us that instead of a gasket leak (which is what our mechanic thought we had), we needed a newly rebuilt transmission. We told him that we didn't want to fix the vehicle and would be there shortly to pick it up. Then he told us that it would be $900 to put the car back together. I expressed to him that he was not upfront about this and he said he didn't charge to diagnose. We asked him to simply make the car towable and he refused. He began screaming at me on the phone telling me that he "is not going to work for free." and then he hung up on me. My husband called the office back and spoke to a woman who told him the same thing, hung up on him, and then they blocked his phone. On August 31, Al had still not backed down, and we did not want to get the police involved in order to get our vehicle back, my husband struck a price deal with him so that he was more competitive as his prices and warranties are outrageous. Al told us that the vehicle would be ready by September 4. On Sept. 3, we got a call that the torque converter was being refinished and it would take an additional week, but would be ready on the 10 or 11th. On September 11, we were told they needed more time and it would be ready on Monday. On Monday, Sept. 14, we called to check on the vehicle and Al told us that they dropped our finished transmission, literally let our finished transmission fall onto the ground! So then he told us they had to restart the entire process (he was complaining as if it were our responsibility to pay him more because they literally dropped our transmission onto the ground). He asked for one more week. On Sept. 17, he told us the car was ready, they just had to program it and we could get it the next day. On Sept. 18, we were told the car was ready and they just had to drive it over the weekend to make sure it works properly. On Sept. 21, they told us they actually didn't drive it over the weekend and the computer was not communicating, but later in the phone call, Al told us the computer was communicating with the transmission and they just needed more time to get it ready. On Sept. 23, Al told me he would not work on my car for one more minute if I didn't buy a new battery (my battery was just fine a month ago when I brought it in). On Sept 23 he said they were testing the pressure points and would get back to us in the morning. On Sept 24, he called us at 11 and said they didn't have an update and he never called again. On September 25, my husband went in to the shop himself and demanded to see our vehicle because it had been over a month and every single day they had more excuses. Al told him, "You know what, just take your vehicle." It took them 30 minutes to bring my vehicle out, but I could clearly see them empty the transmission oil from the car, and they were inside of the vehicle doing something (I learned three days later they were clearing the check engine light when it came back on). We took a perfectly running vehicle in for a gasket leak and after over a month left with a vehicle that has the check engine light on and jerks extremely with every shift. It turns out the transmission was communicating with the computer the whole time, and it needs a new solenoid, which Al refused to replace because he did not want to open the transmission for a third time and do the work correctly because "he was losing money on this vehicle and he doesn't work for free." Now we are having a hard time even selling the vehicle because it does not run. read more

I'm not sure what happened to my original review, but I am posting again because this place is ridiculous. They have posted everywhere that they are A+ with the BBB, but look into it, they lost their accreditation. We took our van in and were told there was no charge to diagnose it. Al told us it needed a new gasket, but then after we agreed on a price and procedure, suddenly we needed a new transmission (which had been rebuilt two years prior). After a heated debate and asking him to just make our car towable (which he refused to do), and him screaming that he doesn't work for free (which I never asked him to do), we came to an agreement. He told us it would take a week to finish, but after a week, he needed more time, so after another week, we grew impatient. At this point he admitted that his tech dropped the transmission. We asked for clarification, and yes, when the transmission was being lifted into the car, they literally dropped it from its highest point. Al told us they would fix it. After another two weeks, suddenly we needed a new battery and a new computer because they couldn't get the transmission to communicate with the car. We tried contacting Al directly multiple times which is when he began hanging up the phone and the shop eventually blocked our calls! We finally showed up at the shop and demanded to see the car, it's parts, and exactly what was happening. Al refused to show us and told us to take the car and get out of his shop. He sent us away with a car that wouldn't run (though it ran perfectly when it arrived with a small leak), and he stole our battery and drained all transmission fluid. read more

So, I don't normally write reviews but after the amount of money I paid.....I had to. To get it out of the way, I don't race or drive my car like I stole it. I'm the guy doing 45 in a 40 with my cruise control on, in the high speed lane. Now that that's out of the way, here we go. I have had two transmissions for the same vehicle (2000 Honda Accord/ 4cyl auto) "Rebuilt" by Pro Transmission for a total of just over $6k, with "upgraded" Borg Warner parts. Stupid me for not realizing after the first one, right. Paid $3,300 and got 29k miles out of the 1st transmission before it went out again. Took it back and they told me my engine mounts were bad causing additional heat and load on the transmission. Paid another $2,900 to have the transmission "rebuilt" a second time with Borg Warner parts and they installed new motor mounts. So, here I am again, 28k miles later with the transmission going out. Funny thing though, my mechanic tells me I need new motor mounts as well. I got 221k miles out of the original transmission, and a total of 57k miles out of TWO "rebuilt" by Pro Transmission! I'm not saying don't go here, some people have had a great experience, but take it for what it's worth and really do your homework, because I didn't and it cost me a lot of money. I'm a 24 year Navy veteran, awarded two air medals for actions in both Afghanistan and Syria. I visited Pro Transmissions while driving from CA to TX executing my final order to enter the retired reserves and to begin a new chapter in my family's life. Luckily, we made it to Glendale before the transmission went out. After visiting multiple transmission shops for a diagnostic, I decided to go with Pro Transmissions. The shop is clean and the guy at the window, an older gentleman named Al, seemed to me as a businessman from a generation when a handshake meant something. The technicians who work here are great and very competent, unfortunately they work for poor management. Al had said he could match if not beat the other shop's timeline for the repair of my transmission after I explained to him my circumstance of needing to be in TX to begin my new career. He seemed very helpful at first, offering to save me money by letting me buy some of the parts myself. Things quickly changed over the week, he never once called to update me as to the status and would legitimately get upset anytime I'd ask for an update to help with planning on how to get a household of 7 across the country. Al is combative, argumentative, and has extremely poor customer service skills. Instead of being up front and honest, he deflected any responsibility and hid. Being an amateur mechanic myself, I understand the complications that can arise while repairing cars and just needed an honest man's word, instead I got a salesman who'd do anything and say anything to make sale. Although this shop's technicians are great, I would not recommend this shop to anyone, not because of the quality of work of his technicians, simply based on Al's customer service. His business ethic and conduct lacks integrity and a care for the customer. Do not send your wife, mother, grandmother, or anyone you wouldn't want subjected to bullying or rude and unhelpful customer service. read more

This place is a RIP OFF! My torque converter was engaging and disengaging in 3rd and 4th gear, causing a slight surge when driving...thats it, no grinding, no noises, no hard shifting. I was told that the torque converter was going bad. When I asked how much, I was told it will depend if there is other problems. Which seemed reasonable, after all they were supposed to be the experts. After their expert assessment, I was told I needed a complete rebuild at a cost of $2400. They claimed the clutches were burnt up, teeth were missing on gears, and on and on. Keep in mind, I was experiencing no other issues, just the slight surge. But again they were the experts, so I trusted them. I did ask to have the replaced parts saved, wanted to make sure they replaced what they said they did. Cut to a week later, I go to pickup my vehicle...and guess what... STILL HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM!!! The same surge when driving. When I asked how could this be, Al, the owner, suggested maybe it's an electrical issue!!! WTF!!! He was supposed to be the "Professional"... shouldn't he had checked the electrical? Also, they seemed to have thrown my parts out by accident. Oops Since then I've taken my vehicle to a really good shop, and they found the issue to be a short in the wiring harness from the vehicles computer. Its now fixed and only cost $300. read more
