Observations and opinion: I went to this beauty school. The price for service is very affordable. You have two options for payment. Check the hours that the school is open and arrive early. The wait time and service are based on the type of service that you are getting and the availability of the students. The students get a lunch hour. You pay in advance for your hair service. One time I went, I wanted a finger wave hair style, none of the students knew how to do a finger wave hair style. Make sure you have a "picture" or "explain in detail" how you want your hairstyle, so you will not be disappointed. Customer service skills, being attentive, prompt service, and professionalism is cruel from the staff to the students when serving a client. I saw a student get an "attitude" because a client voiced "her opinion" about her hair. At one appointment, my hair was not gel down, rush to save time since I had been waiting all day. My service slip was not written up until one of the instructors came and reviewed the appointment slips on the counter and noticed I had been sitting for a while. "No apology for the wait!" My hair did not last four days. I was so disappointed. The student needs to be versatile when it comes to knowing how to style different hair styles. This is important if they are going to work in a salon or own their own hair salon someday. Discuss personal complaints somewhere else regarding your job and not in front of the client. So out of twenty visits I have only had two bad experiences. The first time I got a really unprofessional young lady who left me under the dryer and she said my hair was falling out. It's actually very healthy so she scared me for nothing. Today I got a guy who was nice enough but he was yanking my hair like I was a rag doll. And he smelled like black and milds and cheese. He didn't even know how to use turn on the hair dryer! Thank God one of the instructors came by to rescue me. It's pointless to complain because they're students. The instructor will berate them right in front of you. Awkward! Besides, they're paying tuition so it's not like they'll get kicked out or anything. The atmosphere is a lot like high school. It's a pretty laid back with the radio in the background. Everyone appears to be having fun. Just remember to get here before 1pm for any chemical services (color, relaxer etc.) Prepare for at least a thirty minute wait on a Friday. This review is about the salon services. I've been a customer for over 3 years and I will continue to go as long as they are there. I get my locs maintained and twisted there and I'm always pleased. Though the technicians are students, they do work as if they were in a salon. For the service and care I get, I feel like I should be paying full price. Hair salons would normally charge me anywhere from $60-90 and I pay $23 at the hair school. Cannot be beat! read more

My observations and opinions: Loud laughing that could be heard a block away and rudeness from the director. Disrespect for some religions. Teachers and students not well trained. Teachers would say, "I don't care" quite often. When students needed help the teachers were gathered in a corner. I would hear about teachers stealing, not teaching, lying, and cheating on tests. Some students were punished when a rule was broken and some were not. Students complained about one teacher who could not read. Did not live up to the name in my opinion. read more
