I've had excellent experiences from these guys when purchasing drum equipment. I had been searching for a limited run drum kit that I could not locate from many other places. Prices on the Internet were inflated by the shops that did have it in stock. Pro Audio Star not only had the kit in stock, but had the absolute best price by far. They also worked with me on the price even further. The drums were in immaculate condition and absolutely gorgeous in person. They were VERY safely packaged and were well-protected. I bought my pioneer djm-a9 from them thinking it was a customer return and it is still under warranty, to find out later when I receipt that it was a buy back two years old mixer out of warranty, I was misled when I spoke with Peter on the phone, I paid $2250 for the mixer and I could have bought it on reverb for $1980 with the same condition, when I asked to rerun it, they said they will charge me the shipping cost in both directions which is $250, what a scam! I'm very disapointed with Pro Audio Star Customer Service. I asked for a no signature delivery, as I am unable to be home during FedEx Business/Delivery hours. This includes the FedEx Brick and mortar in my town. I have watched the missed package stickers pile up on my door, and I can do nothing about it. unfortunately, I have had to pay someone to pick it up at the FedEx Store for me,negating the money I thought I was saving buying from them. The return process was arduous and frustrating. It took nearly two weeks after they received the item back and a handful of messages to finally track down what was happening with the return and it's STILL not done as of the writing of this review. There were "issues in the system" first, then the rep gave me an estimated date which came and went with no return, so the next week a different rep told me they'd have to contact the warehouse and get back to me via email in a few hours -- more "system issues." Still nothing hours later, so I called and spoke with someone who said that the warehouse team is still processing the return....weeks after they received the item back. They said I should expect the return by end of day. It's the end of day now, still no refund. Guess I'll be calling tomorrow again. read more

She transferred me over to a guy name Carin. I purchased it on reverb.(they had it listed there) I asked him please make sure it goes out today(Monday) as I have a gig on Saturday, that will give it plenty of time to get here. Purchased a Boss amp on there website. First order on site stated payment had not processed so I decided to submit order a second time with exact same payment. I rec'd a confirmation and was good, or so I thought. I decided to check my email to confirm the order and to my surprise, I had been sent to separate orders with 2 identical charges. I quickly sent an email to the "customer support" team but never heard anything back for 12 hours. I then decided to place a phone call, at which time "Madelyn" assisted me. I rec'd an email from her the next day stating she was able to cancel both orders and that I would be receiving a credit to my card in 5-7 days. It has been 8 days and I have only rec'd "one" credit, the other payment is still on my card. These guys are NOT TO BE TRUSTED. I did some research and realized they sell defective items or in my case, double charge you and then refuse to refund you after multiple attempts at cancellation. Ordered a Breedpove Persuit Exotic Concert CE from these guys. Came with damage that was clearly done when packaging or shipping. Immediately took pictures and reached out to customer support. They said someone would contact me. They never did. Fast forward some time and I contacted them again. Now I'm past their 30 day return period. It's in the same exact box I got it in and has never been played (it's broken, after all). But I guess I either buy something else (which I can't afford) or pay a good amount to repair. So here is how they do you dirty, at least the experience I have had. I recently purchased 2 bass guitars from them. They list an item for sale as used and when you inquire to see if you can save any more money, the salesperson tells you that they can get you a brand new item for not much more than the price they have listed for the used item. Sounds too good to be true, right? Well it is. They turnaround and send you the used item anyways, so you just paid more than what they were asking thinking you were getting a brand new item. I can only speak of my dealings with the same salesperson. I hope this isn't the practice of the company, just a greedy, dishonest salesperson. I only caught it because I checked the SKU number online of the item they sent me and it came back to the used item. I brought this to the attention of the salesperson and they acted like they didn't understand what i was telling them so I asked point blank if the basses they sent me were brand new or used. No response. I told them i noticed the used one they had on their website was no longer available. They told me the used one sold on eBay. Of course I checked their recent sales on eBay and it wasn't true. Now he just ignores my emails as opposed to trying to make things right. read more

The neck of my bass cracked during a set up within the first week. Even if used, the neck shouldn't have cracked like that. They refused my return, not for the crack, but because I dot have the packaging. Admittedly didn't notice the return policy on the web page, but there was also nothing in the receipt stating this either. This is a $1600 instrument. I was also told that they can't accept returns without original packaging because of the difficulty reselling the instrument. It begs the question, would you then resell my instrument with a broken neck. How many other broken instruments are you passing off as ok? read more

Asked for actual (not stock) photos of a bass guitar with a phenomenal burl maple finish. I've seen many pix of this bass on the internet; some have great looking burl finishes, others are 'meh' - so naturally, I want to SEE the actual bass that they have for sale, not a stock photo which is what they provided - here is the response to my inquiry: "Thanks for asking but I am unable to provide photos for any of our gear. I understand you want to see the top but I can't promise it will look the same as the stock photos. I know each model looks slightly different. Right, I don't know, don't want to disregard all the negative reviews but my experience with Pro Audio was excellent. I ordered a new Ibanez RG guitar from them last week. They chopped off $75 bucks out of the blue and the total with tax and shipping came to $450, saving me around $100 compared to the other sites. It shipped out same day and they emailed me FedEx tracking - It arrived two days later. It had been double packed and had bubble wrap. Took it out in the sun, couldn't find a scratch on it.. Everything works , pickups, nothing bent. Perfect , brand new condition. Maybe they've upped their game after all the bad reviews? Not sure, but I would purchase from them again. I bought a Charvel guitar from them. Used, like new. I ordered on a Friday Night, the site said if ordered after midnight shipping was back a day. I didn't realize they were closed the weekend. Shipped Monday and arrived Wednesday. So I am not complaining about shipping, better than I expected. Guitar was used for half the price of new. Arrived in a Charvel box with model and correct serial number on the outside. Took from the box, brand new factory packaging. Had the original hang tags and checkout tags. Brand new. I purchased a "Used - Mint" condition guitar from ProAudioStar and it arrived in excellent condition cosmetically and I was initially impressed. I found out, however, that the tuner on the preamp was not functioning correctly. I replaced the batteries and still nothing. The return/exchange process could have been handled better. The staff, although friendly, have kind of a churn and burn attitude that doesn't seem to care if you might be a repeat customer or not. I was actually looking to possibly get an Ibanez AR325 from them but not anymore. I give them 2 stars on their friendliness, but removed 3 for quality control, dismissive attitude and just the general lack of wanting to make things right after it was deemed that it was their mistake. This is the second time an item I bought from Reverb has been misrepresented and it's going to be the last. I'll stick with Sweetwater, Amazon and even Guitar Center has provided me decent items that arrived as described. read more

Good luck getting a refund in a timely fashion here. Of course "Covid" is their explanation for close to a month before a returned item gets refunded. Also ordered stuff on Reverb from them and unlike any other seller on the site it takes an unreasonable amount of time before it actually ships. I bought from a seller in Serbia same day as Pro Audio Star and the Serbian order came 9 days faster. Gonna pass on these guys, sweet water, Zzounds or even guitar center online are actual merchants that give a F. Oh and good luck calling that 718 number on their site hahahaha! Apparently the guitar I ordered is no longer in stock. I was informed it would take 2 weeks to process my refund after receiving the guitar. I found something for a good price and ordered it and, like other reviewers, I got an email saying the item was out of stock and wouldn't be available for 2 months. Meanwhile, they had charged my credit card for the purchase and said they couldn't wait to bill me until the item was shipped. 2 months later I emailed them and they said another 1-2 months. I started using ProAudioStar quite a few months ago, never really had an issue for the basic items that I got. I just bought a guitar pedal, and someone in their shipping department decided to stick the invoice sticker right ontop of the box, and then ripped off the box art ontop, smack dab in the middle, then put it underneath the box, then sealed up the box and sent it off to me like it was my problem now. I complained, and they are claiming because the item isn't defective, that they would still have me pay a $25 restocking fee because it falls under "not wanted anymore". This is the absolute last time I will ever use this company, buyer beware. I will now continue giving money to Sweetwater, Musicians Friend, B&H, Amazon, and others, and ProAudioStar will never get any of my money ever again, if you want to risk having to deal with the worst customer service in this industry, you can take your chances. Didn't plan on writing a review for these guys, but after getting an email asking for me to share my experience: I thought, maybe I can save someone else the headache. This is the second time over ever written a negative review, it's a real badge of (awful) honor when I spend my time earning others about shady business practices... Also, to be fair, my experience ended with an appropriate item but what it took to get there was frustrating, and they (as of 4/21) have shorted my refund by $35 citing "fees." Their behavior is going to cost them a lot more than $35 after I copy/paste this review everywhere they have an internet presence. That, and I purchased a second guitar from their competition due to their unacceptable support. Alright, the details: I discussed the used inventory with a sales rep before committing to the purchase. The rep assured me the guitars are "used but look like new and will be 100% free from any defect or flaws." I ordered a guitar and it arrived with paint defect/flaws that match B-Stock conditions... I was suspicious and asked them if they're selling B-Stock items under the guise of "used but like new" descriptions. Personally, I'd rather have a great condition used guitar vs a factory blem/defect... After asking about it and they assured me that they don't sell B-Stock items (but later admitted the guitar sold to me does meet that description.) Despite this, I was told an exchange couldn't be guaranteed due to inventory and they suggested I place another order then ship the original back. I did this and the second guitar arrived in appropriate condition. I sent the first guitar back and they said they would "see if they could get the $35 fee removed" since the guitar was clearly not as described on their website. After a couple weeks a refund posted to my bank account, and was short by $35. I followed up and asked about it, they said they'll see if it can be removed. Hasn't happened. I gave it another week and followed up. No response. More weeks pass, more follow ups, more excuses and "we'll see if we can make the exception by the end of the week." After reading that for the fourth or fifth time, I gave an ultimatum: Refund me the $35 or I'll purchase my next guitar elsewhere. It's $35 and that's not chump change in my head but it's more about the principle. If they didn't sell a clearly flawed finished guitar in the first place as "like new" this never would have happened; Not sure why I'm held responsible for their false advertising. The last communication I received from them they admit the guitar was inspected and meets "B-Stock" description and that they aren't going to refund me the $35. Can't make this stuff up. So they're either incompetent at best or fraudulent at worst. In the end, this is costing them a lot more than $35 because the guitar was purchased as a gift and I planned to buy another one for myself: I took my business elsewhere, and I suggest the same to you. Pitbull Audio has better prices anyway, hopefully they have better customer service too. read more

Tuning high E to pitch string pops off. Here the locking tuner was not close to being locked. 2. String height was not even close to factory specs 3. Neck was out of whack. The item was well packaged, heavy plastic bag, lots of stuffing in the box, (not the original box), it shipped right away and the only thing I question is that FEDEX just dropped it off in my unsecured mailroom, did not even buzz my apartment to let me know it was here, all they did was send an email saying it was "left with someone" but that is not the merchants responsibility. I ordered a pedal form ProAudioStar the other day. The package arrived and there was an actual skirt in it, yes a skirt!!! I sent them pictures, etc. Now, they say that I cut the label and put it into another box and I am the one who put the skirt inside. Amazing!! So, I am stuck with a skirt now instead of a pedal. I contacted AMEX and they pretty much said they can contact them but there is nothing they will do if they don't accept the claim. So, we pretty much have no protection at all out there. You might get what you paid for. You might not. If you do get it, it might not be exactly what you ordered. Like it might be used instead of new. Great deal from a 'reputable' seller so I pulled the trigger. The item never shipped to I attempted to email and call for nearly a week. 5 days later I get a response that the item was "oversold" and they would send me a new one when they get them in stock. Lies. The item I purchased was limited to 1000 units and was made in 2012. As in there will not be any new stock. Ever. Anywhere. Again, lies. I ordered a DAngelico guitar that was sold as "used, customer return." I called a rep who told me the guitar was returned in perfect condition and had been bench tested. I received it, the case was damaged and one of the buckles was broken off. The guitar has a few minor scratches and a string was broken. I didn't care about that, but the wood base bridge support was cracked and the pickup selector switch was broken. The instrument was not playable. I took pictures and a video and contacted another Rep. Joe W. He agreed that if I had the guitar repaired I could be refunded that amount. I emailed him the photos of the damage and repair estimate in the amount of $106. It has now been one week and I've had no response. So I will join all the others who advise against doing business with them. read more

Purchased a product (Behringer U-Phoria UM2) from them couple months ago, and found it to be defective on first use few weeks ago. As per directions on their website, wrote them an email about the above issue couple weeks ago, with supporting details, but they didn't even acknowledge it. Later, called their customer support line few days ago and left a voice mail with details, but still no response. Again, called their customer support line earlier today and was finally connected with a real person, who hung up the call as I looked up some info he requested. Finally, called back their customer support like immediately but was directed to voice mail - again left a message with all details, but haven't heard back. Four attempts, over a couple of weeks, to address a damaged product issue, without an acknowledgement, let alone a resolution ... Don't believe many adjectives are required here, to accurately describe the intentions and priorities of this 'excuse for a business' operation. Lesson learn't.
