Even though I was more on a browsing expedition with one item set in mind the Big 5 Sporting Good Crew of SC was super friendly, personable and very much supportive of one another as well as all customers in the store. It's a boutique style Big 5 - located on Ventura Place between Laurel Canyon Blvd and Radford Avenue, parallel to Venture Blvd. I don't pop in much as other locations speak to me a little better in terms of what I need or might be looking for. All locations could use a modern update or some tlc - it does feel a bit like a 90s time capsule... I did luck in a portable fan, double AA battery powered and perfect for a humid and/or super sunny day. Batteries are reasonable here as well. Good deals on sporting goods, beach gear, apparel, indoor and outdoor goods. I can't remember the last time I saw a Big 5 that carried firearms but this is one of the locations. Obviously they aren't loaded and it's all about safety first, but it caught me off guard with so many families and kids in the store. They carry a huge variety of everything from tents and canopies to baseball gear and softball equipment. Swimwear, camping things and even have in-store as well as online sales, deals and coupons. Street and private lot parking with access through the alley, making it easy during Sundays with the Farmers Market direct in front along the street. Hours vary through the week, but service and selection is always consistent.

The suede leather Vans were awesome and I desperately wanted a few pairs but I didn't have room in luggage.... Because of Max I can ski mountain open to close with no issue/pain! I recently came back on a Tuesday to buy skis before my weekend trip to Mammoth. Hailey was super helpful - again took the time to pull and explain ski options based on my ski level and preferred terrain.
