When I arrived there were 2 employees on the sales floor helping 2 customers. There were 2 employees in the back stock room laughing with each other. Jolene came out. would not listen when I said I didn't want to sign up for VIP. "Is this mandatory, if not I'm not interested" "Ok well I'm going to tell you about it anyway then you can decide." Beware deceptive online pricing and upsell chaos. If you've never been here, here's what to expect: You'll enter, the staff is friendly and attentive, and they have a good selection. Regardless of what shoe you want to try on, you're going to be ushered to a computer where they measure your feet and give you an analysis and then fit you for very expensive custom insoles, upwards of $100. They'll then recommend 4-5 different shoes based on this, and the price range will vary. If you had a shoe in mind that you wanted to try, they'll bring that as well, but they'll push the others. They'll put the custom insoles in everything as an upsell technique, so you'll have to take it out if you really want to try on the shoes without the expensive add on. The insoles were meh. Didn't do much for me. I asked for the shoe I came to try on and was satisfied with those and ready to check out until they said the sale price listed on the website with free in store pickup wasn't applicable to in-store purchase ($30 difference) unless I signed up for a membership which was a $20 trial for 6 months and somehow tied to those damn expensive insoles and custom socks that I also didn't want. So if I wanted the sale price, I'd have to spend $20 somehow and be tied to those insoles I said I didn't want to begin with? I dunno. I felt like I was drowning and somehow my $150 shoes were going to end up costing me $300. Stop trying to make everything a membership subscription. How many pairs of running shoes do you think I'm going to buy every 6 months? Craziness. I went home and ordered my shoes on Amazon for $140. Unfortunately, the experience fell far short of what I expected from a specialty running store. When I asked about the differences between two running shoes, I was told it was "personal preference" without any explanation of how the shoes actually differed. When I asked about two custom insole options, the employee simply read the product names back to me rather than explaining the features or benefits of each. What surprised me most was that the one topic every employee seemed eager to discuss was the VIP membership. I learned far more about the membership program than I did about the products I came in to buy. I also found several employees dismissive when I asked follow-up questions, which made the experience feel more frustrating than helpful. Super helpful and caring staff. The big issue I had was the surprise price of $130 for custom insoles... The fact that they don't charge you for them after they've been cut and molded, means that if you don't end up buying them, they just toss them. Which leads me to believe that the upcharging for some foam and plastic is crazy. $130 will get you a whole ass new pair of shoes. I do really appreciate the info from the foot scan. All the employees are very knowledgeable, but this business model doesn't sit right with me. I've accompanied my sister-in-law here before while her husband went through the fit test and got a pair of recommended shoes. I've been wanting to do the fit test as well but haven't found the time yet. Over Black Friday I got a nice pair of Brooks online though and joined the VIP family rewards. If you are in the VIP rewards group, it has a 90-day Perfect Fit Guarantee so you can return for store credit, which can be used toward a different shoe or different size of the same shoe. If purchased online, you can get a refund within that time period. I called customer service to get the same shoe in a different size at the same price and went to the store to do my return of the first size. If you return in person vs mailing, the return is free. Customer service is great both over phone or in store. The three employees there in the store including the manager were so helpful with my return. I recently had a knee replacement and I have plantar fasciitis. My doctor recommended getting Brooks running shoes. Costly but worth it. I went in and explained to the sales associate that I need a 6.5 wide. They don't have 6.5 wide in stock but if I purchase a 6.5 wide and wait a few days for delivery they could get it. I'm surprised at all the great reviews. On my one visit there a woman named Kayla was so nasty to me. I waited atleast 20 minutes to buy two pair of running shoes and she was too busy with the guy who came in after me. Told me to "wait my turn!!!' She left a very powerful first impression to RRS. Came here because my previous shoes were wearing down and my knees and hips were starting to hurt. A YouTuber I watch mentioned they could analyze your feet to get the best fit which sounded really valuable to me as someone that does a lot of walking/running. I called ahead to make sure they were open since it was Labour Day and the person who picked up the phone was friendly and energetic. I was thankful they were open and though they were understandably crowded, the staff were attentive, asked if I had been helped yet, offered me water, and made sure I didn't feel forgotten while I waited. Noe (helped by Christian when Noe took a lunch break) asked me some questions, took me through the fit analysis process (which was super cool!), explained my results, made recommendations, and was very patient through my admittedly very long and deliberate selection process, all while managing to attend to other customers without making me feel ignored. I'm a very thorough shopper, but Noe never rushed me and reassured me that this was his job and he wanted to help. Though the staff made add-on recommendations, I did not feel pressured or strong-armed to buy anything I didn't want. First of all this used to be a great store. Loved the customer service. But times have changed. I would not recommend this place. First it must've been shift change. No greeting of customers anymore. Two employees said goodbye when we walked in. The one employee who was left there never asked if I needed help. I had to go up to her and inquire about a pair of shoes I saw on Road Runners website. She said: Oh we don't have those shoes here, you can only get them our website. I then said it doesn't say that on your website . Then she said she doesn't like the Road Runners website. If I could give zero stars I definitely would! I just left the store and my experience was horrendous. I put my name on the list to be waited on as the store was extremely busy. Waiting and waiting and I noticed that people who had come after me were being helped. I say something to Kayla who is absolutely wonderful and sweet. This was my first time at this type of store and didn't they existed until my friend brought me. They specialize in finding the right shoes for you depending on what you need it for, for example, if you need it for running, other active sports, if you're at jobs where you're standing for long periods, health (ie: plantar fasciitis), /!: etc.. They have a machine called Fit Finder that can find out your foot length (shoe size), foot width (whether you need wide or regular size shoes), arch height, static foot alignment (whether you need shoes with more stability or less stability .. if you have flat feet) , and there's more (ball width, ball girth, instep height, heel width). Mitch helped the three of us and he was so helpful with his recommendations especially the shoes he had brought out to us to try. The wait was long and we were there for at least 2+ hours for the whole Process and was there until closing. We waited for at least 30 minutes before they got to us to get fitted. The rest of the time, we were trying on shoes for the correct sizes and comfort, but Mitch was helping 3 other customers at the same time so more waiting. Thanks Mitch for being so great! They were really understaffed here with only two people working on a Saturday afternoon. We were initially going to give 5 stars but the wait was really bad. We didn't expect to be at a shoe store for more than 2 hours so I deducted one star to 4 stars. Take advantage of their VIP program. It's $20 for the first year and then goes up to 50 bucks a year. We get discounts on merch including the shoes, 90 day return program no matter the condition, and much more. Shoes are really expensive but it's worth it to be able to find the shoes that you need. They also have custom made insoles for your feet (your feet will thank you) , different types of socks, therapy guns, other arch support, comfortable sandals, and etc... There's one bathroom for customers with code and appreciate that there's one for employees as well. This store is located in a large lot. It was a busy parking lot where people come and go in different directions. I appreciated the traffic light at one of the exits so we were able to make a left turn. read more

I walked into this store thinking I'd be buying a pair of running shoes. Instead, I got a front-row seat to the worst customer service performance I've ever witnessed... and trust me, I've been to the DMV. First, they couldn't find my account. Weird, since I just paid for a membership here a few weeks ago. After a few minutes of confusion, they discovered they'd actually put my membership... on someone else's account. Incredible. Love that for me. My money, my membership - given to a random stranger. Solid start. Eventually, they told me they could "fix" it, which basically meant I could still get my member discount. At this point, I'm thinking: okay, problem solved, we can move on. Wrong. The two employees helping me - one of them a manager, no less - acted like me asking for help was ruining their entire day. I was polite, I was patient, I was literally just trying to buy shoes. But the level of rudeness, eye-rolls, and general "we'd rather be anywhere else" energy was something to behold. They finally found a shoe that worked for me (miracle of the century), gave me my discount, and informed me that I couldn't return them because I "wasn't a member." Yes, the same membership I had just paid for but they put under someone else's name. Make it make sense. Anyway, I leave... and while I'm driving home, I realize the cherry on top: these geniuses gave me the wrong size. Fantastic. I drive all the way back, walk in, and the same employee from earlier greets me with - you guessed it - another eye roll. No apology, no accountability, just pure unprofessionalism. Thankfully, another (different) employee stepped in, was actually helpful, and gave me solid advice. But by that point, the damage was done. This wasn't just a bad shopping trip, this was a case study in how to actively drive customers away. Between the membership fiasco, the rudeness, the wrong size shoes, and the overall "we don't care" vibe, I can say without hesitation: I will never be back. Overall, the place is nice for activewear, Staff is friendly however, it is understaffed. As soon as it gets busy, you may have to wait 30 minutes or more to get a representative to help you. Selection is also very limited but again if you're looking for generic, but good quality activewear, and this is a good spot to go. Just be sure not to go at a busy time. The one thing that I think that makes this place very special is there custom insoles. They have a machine that reads every variable about how you walk in your leg, Lane, etc. and then make a custom insult for you based on that information. It appears to be a very comprehensive scan of your foot and everything related to your foot impacts your whole body so an important part of being active is to make sure that your feet are taken care of because bad feet can cause bad back can cause headaches and 1000 other issues so that is one reason I would be back to this place is because of that foot scan. read more

Came in to inquire about a refund for a pair of shoes that were purchased 90 days prior. Store was super packed and seemed to be a bit understaffed. Even though there was a waitlist, Sonia came and assisted and answered a few questions that I had. She then went on to help a few customers but always came back and checked on me, even checking the store room for a few pairs of shoes for me in between customers. She answered every question I had and went above and beyond to assist me even though there were a ton of customers in the store. She even offered advice on sizing and fit and handled my return/exchange in the utmost professional manner. Was truly a pleasant experience and always informative. This store is beyond excellent and I see no need to ever visit a big box store franchise for your future sneakers. It is very difficult to get any service in this store, no matter what day or time, everyone is always Too Busy. I bought shoes, was told told to join the VIP club. I never got any of the benefits because they are always "too busy". But since that visit, MY CREDIT CARD HAS BEEN FRAUDULENTLY USED several times since then. Every time I call they tell me they have cancelled my membership and deleted my card. THEY NEVER DO. They will not cancel your membership no matter what you do. I'm not sure I have ever had a worse experience dealing with a company in my life. I bought a pair of shoes at another location, and used my VIP membership to exchange them here. They had to order my size, but assured me I would get them in a few business days. The order still does not exist on my account. I've called Road Runner customer service something like 20 times in the past week, they have had no idea where my order is. I've been placed on hold and hung up on, sent to voicemails, then sat in hour long queues. Not once have I received any evidence of my order except for my paper receipt. The store manager even told me today that they are canceling my order and I am "not getting the shoes". Customer service then said they have no idea what she's talking about, great company, huh? If you have an issue? "It will be 72 hours for someone to reach out to you". Be prepared to be screamed at and hung up on, for having the gall to want the item you paid for. This store is much smaller than their Costa mesa store, but has all the equipment to make inserts and size your feet for the perfect fit.
