While I can't speak for the produce and products carried by this little shop, I can review the management. A few years ago I was single mom trying to get on my feet after leaving a bad relationship. After filling out an application, I was called in. My first job interview! Bought a new outfit at the thrift store so I could look presentable, cried on the way from the excitement and prospect of making a step forward. I walked in and was told to have a seat off to the side near a deli area, the interviewer took several minutes before joining me. Upon her arrival, my hopes were dashed, she looked at my application and proceeded to tell me how unqualified and terrible my job history. This is very upsetting to leave a poor review because I used to love this store and all the fresh produce and wonderful sandwiches and soups. But over the last year it has declined so much. I've seen moldy bread on the shelf, soft potatoes, and expired food being sold. When I brought attention to the staff about such concerns they replied "I'm sorry we hear it all the time". Most recently I purchased cooking wine that must have been so old it had turned to vinegar and when I called it was just another "I'm sorry". Very disappointed. I spent $68 tonight 9.13.23. Part of my purchase was one loaf of multigrain bread. Drove home and opened bread to make a sandwich. Bread was solid mold on the one side. I called immediately. Clerk that sold the bread apologized and said "I didn't get to remove the bad bread on shelves." Then she told me her manager told staff no returns, exchanges or refunds. I asked for owner to call me tonight. Clerk called back within ten minutes. Manager/owner would not call me back as requested. Clerk stated she would call in morning. Just a note. Store is selling other outdated produce. Bread has kosher certification. Mold is not kosher. Lol. I left Indiana Secretary of State information that appears to be for the owners. read more

Have had the Protein Nana smoothie twice in the last week. First time it didn't taste like bananas at all and very runny. 2nd time still not the consistency you would expect from a smoothie but the taste was more like the ingredients are supposed to be. Think I'll go to Whole Foods instead. Their smoothies are thick and filling and even a couple dollars cheaper. read more

Why has it taken so long for me to walk in here?? What a treasure! I knew they would have the basic produce and grocery selection, but I didn't know they would be so fresh and reasonably priced. They have fresh mung beans, herbs, squash, and small batch spices. Want freshly ground cashew butter? Head to the back-right for the machine next to ones for peanut and almond butters. Feel like a fruit smoothie or pressed juice? You can order one at the bar when you walk in and pick it up for the drive home when you're done with shopping. I think my biggest surprise was the selection of paleo bacon, treats, and gluten free EVERYTHING. I no longer have to drive up to whole paycheck for pantry needs. Of course, the meat and deli selections are limited here, but they do have a small amount of premade meals, chopped salads, and deli salads as well. This place is a gem. read more

Awesome! They have a ton of stuff you will not find at a grocery store! Maca Powder, oat flour, wheatgrass powder, spirulina, almond meal, coconut flour and a good selection of gluten free pasta. Lots of it in a cooler. The strawberries here look amazing and not gross like what is at the grocery store!! I will surely be back for the produce!! The people were friendly and I was so excited to find Spapea Crisps for $1.99 instead of $5.00 ( which is what I have paid for before). I personally think produce depot is a hidden gem in our area. There are very few places to get good organic, local or vegan options and they offer all of that. I always love coming here and browsing the items because to me it is way less overwhelming and it has more natural options opposed to the bigger grocery stores in the area. read more

If you're into fresh produce and nutritional alternatives you will love the selection in the grocery side of the store. I come in weekly to mix my own nuts and pick out some choice veggies and fruits for the week. As for lunch the pepper sandwich is lights out the cold cuts are ok. The choice of fixings is super solid and the staff is great. My only suggestion for an area to improve is the selection of meatless entrees. One suggestion would be to use pasta as a base for veggies and sauces. If your grabbing lunch go with a pepper sandwich with spinach, seasoned tomatoes, balsamic and fresh mozzarella ... Produce Depot is an oasis in a sea of nothingness! They offer a fantastic assortment of fresh produce and also have a variety of spices that every Chef would drool over. Inside is a Smoothie Bar & Delicatessen where you can have a sandwich, salad or soup before (or after) you decide to shop for all of those home staples that you didn't know you could find so fresh. A lot of their produce rival that of Whole Foods in both quality and price. I highly recommend their vegan desserts too! read more

I'm a fan but ... Yes, I love many things about Produce Depot and am grateful for the local option, but the downfall of this store is poor management, plain and simple. Positives: 1. Good selection of produce and organic options (watch for freshness though, sometimes things still on the shelf are moldy or ready to turn) 2. Decent prices especially on sale pricing 3. Nice baked goods. Love the vegan baked options such as the chocolate chip cookies. Wish they had more vegan baked goods available. Love the whole wheat bread. Wish they could add a fresh whole wheat pita and whole grain Lavash. Get there early for the breads they sell out quick. 4. Nice selection of bulk options. Love the small quantity pkg herb options and nuts, beans, grains and oats. Nuts over priced compared to what you can get at Whole Foods or Trader Joes though. 5. Nice selection of cold soups and salads, even vegan options in the potato salad, but the potato salad could be called onion (potato) salad. Way too much raw onion -- it's all you taste when you take a bite. 6. Love the Kolona brand organic dairy products. 7. Nice juice/smoothy bar with reasonable pricing. Wish they'd bring back the V-3, one of my favorites for 1.99 and was the best buy at the juice bar. 8. For meat eaters, they do carry fresh meats and prepared take home foods. Negatives: 1. Poor Management The "management" are the owners. One of the owners does seem to put in more effort when it comes to chipping in and is usually found helping at the register. The other all you'll see him doing is "bagging" the groceries and chatting with customers. Well this would all be fine if the store was running smoothly -- but it doesn't. I have had numerous conversations with this particular owner, offering feedback, and all he ever does is blame his employees for lack of ethic often complaining about the younger generation and finding good workers. I find it hard to respect someone who displays lack of accountability. Today, as I have observed on many visits, there was a line at the register 8 people deep. He was "bagging" and standing around doing nothing instead of opening the second register and helping move the line along quicker. Even when there are plenty of workers around, they only open one register at a time even when the line is long. It doesn't make sense. In addition, the juice bar is never running smoothly and I have never seen turnover at the rate I see here. They can't seem to keep anyone and it is obvious why -- they are always understaffed and are not given the proper training or tools to be successful. He blames the younger generation and inability to find and keep good help on what in reality is poor management and likely low wages. He's had many mature women working at the juice bar and has turn over with them also, so he's denying himself. I had to wait 30 minutes for 2 juices, then the juice order was wrong. I don't blame the young girl. She quickly took responsibility for the error, but in reality it wasn't her fault. They were staffed with 2 and a long line of customers waiting for orders. She was clearly flustered. I felt sorry for them both. One of the girls was very sharp with me when I inquired about my juice order, but I didn't blame her either -- it's poor management plain and simple. The owner should have been back there helping them, but the owners never seem to step foot behind that juice bar to help. When I suggested he consider helping out at the register and behind the juice bar he quickly made excuses and said he works 80 hours a week. Well, if he can't handle the responsibility he would benefit his business greatly to hire a strong manager to ease his burden. I recommend they stop making excuses, blaming their staff, and step up to the plate and lead by example. read more

Absolutely love the selection here as they have an assortment of options. I love how u can make ur own peanut butter that's such an amazing thing and very interactive. But the only thing that made me not want to come back is the way that Deli manager talks to her employees and customers. There is no reason to be rude w a customer and acquire a tone. That's probably a reason why no one stays on the deli side for a pro longer period of time. The sandwich was great but maybe the owners of this small business do something about her. I don't know if she was mad since I was black and wearing a black lives matter t shirt but after she gave me my food I heard her talking about me and called me the N word. Fresh produce. Great Variety. Many choices for organics. Great place to shop for fresh produce. They have spices. They have a small deli (have not yet tried) They even have grinders so you can grind fresh nut butters. There is a lot packed into this little store. Produce, sandwich, smoothie and juice rating-5 Service rating - 1 All the food, produce and smoothies are awesome but service is terrible. You can stand at the sandwich/smoothie counter and I can see them looking at me, but they choose to ignore your presence. Then once you order your sandwich, they give an attitude if you ask for more than 3 toppings and start huffing and puffing (literally.) We have been shopping at PD for years. It is my go to for produce. We also purchase many items from the bulk and freezer sections. The only issue I have is when I ask for an item they never want to take down our name and number to call us when the item becomes available. Was happy to find this unique produce/grocery store. They offer a good variety of hard-to-find items such as coconut flour, glutton-free pasta, and a great walk-in freezer with nice fresh produce and much of it organic. Prices are on par with local big groceries and in some cases produce was less expensive. Great place for produce! The zucchini is huge! The selection is pretty nice and fresh. I haven't had any issues with quickly rotten fruits or vegs, which is a plus! The fresh ground honey roasted peanut butter is very tasty and not a bad price. I like the selection of different foods, like various pastas not made from flour and tortillas. Their guac is very tasty, although I'd like a touch more onion in it. Their soups are a great price and tasty for being vegetarian and usually gluten and/or dairy free. I like that they carry perfect pasta (although I see that they use their own labels, i know my pasta companies. Ha!) And their prices are not bad at all for them! They carry shredded zucchini which helps me with my zucchini obsession. ;) I love that they have ground bison, but the price is a bit much for me (12.99 for the package), so i havent gotten any yet. Their Italian bread is soooooooooo good! The whole wheat too. I mean, good bread guys. I have gotten a loaf of the Italian and just slathered butter on it and made it a meal. Soooooooo good! They also make a tomato bread you can just pop in the oven, very tasty. I haven't tried any of the smoothies or sammies, but they look tasty. But 6.99 for an avocado sammie? Idk.
