There is legitimately no better barbershop in Scottsdale/Phoenix than Professional Barber. Boris, Boris's dad, and Stan hook it up every time with the best customer service, most hysterical conversations, and freshest cuts. I always tell people, "I've known Boris for longer than I've known my wife - and trust him more too," which is no joke! I've never gotten a bad haircut once from this man. He's always on time, quick to get me in and out with the best cut, and will always chat it up with the funniest stories, jokes, and commentary on all things life. For a young dude, Boris has the quality life advice that rivals most therapists... but with the street smarts of a true OG. Now this is a place we won't forget after coming back from our trip to Arizona. I cut my boyfriend's hair (I'm a licensed cosmetologist) but we decided to treat ourselves that day, and he really did need a cut and beard trim. We are from out of state on vaca in Phoenix/Scottsdale area, and this shop was recommended on Google/Yelp. I'm really happy we came here; from the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted by the guys. Stanley cut his hair and did phenomenal, quality work. It felt like we've been regulars there for years with the way we all talked. Another barber gave me a cold bottled water, sucker & "million dollar bill" with their shop name on it. Completely unprofessional and unacceptable behavior from the owner and a barber. Not only did the owner speak to a different client incredibly disrespectfully but then they started fighting with each other. While my kids are sitting there, another child is waiting they screamed and yelled at each other in their native language. If you're reading reviews and trying to figure out where to go, then just try this place. I get my hair cut every 2 weeks. For about 2 years after moving here I had tried damn near every shop in scottsdale north of Indian bend. Went here one time on a whim and haven't gone anywhere else since. The three guys that work there Eddie, Boris, Stanley all know that they're doing. They'll make you laugh, they'll remember how you want your hair cut. You hope never to need to change your barber shop, but sometimes circumstances require it, like when we moved to the Phoenix area. I was looking for two things: a great cut and great experience, and I found both with Eddie, Boris and Stan at Professional Barber Shop. Most haircuts look good when you leave the shop, especially for someone like me who likes to keep his hair short. That's the easy part. The really trick: does it still look good weeks later? Boris (who is my go to, but Eddie and Stan are great, too) really pays attention to the details of his customers, and I am always happy between cuts (and so is my wife). My son, in his mid-20s son, loves the shop too, and he likes more styling. The shop is also a blast. It has an interesting customer base, young and old, all income levels (you can tell by the cars in the lot). And the banter is outstanding. Sports and politics (obviously), real estate development, Bitcoin, best superhero, interest rates, tv shows--you never know what's on tap but it's always interesting. There's terrific camaraderie among Eddie, Boris and Stan (Eddie is Boris' father), and they set the tone for the shop. I highly recommend Professional Barber Shop to my new friends in the Phoenix area and to visitors who may need a touch up. Truly one of my favorite places since we moved here. read more

I was originally a customer at Boris' other shop Shaving Grace. I was a regular there for a few years, but to my understanding, they are under new management/ownership. Boris will be moving to PBS and several of his barbers will be going with him. So naturally, when my barber Bella moved to PBS I followed her because she does a fantastic job and she does it consistently. If you've ever been to Shaving Grace, you know the customers are loyal and for good reason. Not only are the haircuts clean and high-quality, but Boris is a great guy and he (and his employees) makes the experience enjoyable even when there's a wait. I highly recommend making the move over to Professional Barber Shop or trying it out if you're a new customer. And if you're new, ask for Bella, she's wonderful! I was fortunate to find Boris a while back when he was running his previous location on Camelback and Miller and followed him to his current Hayden and Mountain View Rd location. I've been to many different barbers throughout the valley for many years and I know when you find a good one-follow them until they retire. Put off getting a haircut on Saturday, decided to do it Sunday. But, and I'm sure you may have guessed, dear reader, most barber shops aren't open on Sundays -- but not Professional Barber Shop. Looks like these are the boys. And they are indeed homies. They're super Russian and real nice guys, fun to talk to. They clean you up real sharp-like with a razor and do this hot towel on your face and massage which is phenomenal. However, I will say you have to be specific with what you ask for. My go-to for a couple years now has been an inch off the top and 2 faded up the sides (but I forgot to mention with a side part). Sam took that to mean a slick back, pompadour sort of thing which some guys are into, but I'm not so much. Otherwise, it was fine, but just... be specific. ALSO: cash only. read more
