Had Louis and his team do our bathroom renovation of our historic house. Old bathroom was '90s style with a shower only, so we replaced it with a tub and re-tiled everything with a more classic look. The team did a great job with our bathroom renovation. Less than half the total cost of what one of those expensive design & contractor companies quoted me! Louis did a great job managing everything and making sure everything went smoothly. I bought the bathtub and tiles myself from Home Depot and they did all the work in the estimated 2 weeks. They made sure to protect our floors during the process and were very communicative with texts about who was coming when and asking how everything was going during the process. I had wonderful service from PPS - Sasha, Grady, and David the other day. On Monday, I called PPS because I had no hot water for 5 days and PPS had installed a new hot water heater for me 3 and 1/2 years ago. Sasha took my call and re-arranged schedules for Tuesday so someone could come and address my problem. On Tuesday, Grady and David showed up during the scheduled time, quickly identified the issue, took the necessary time to resolve/fix the issue so hopefully it would not happen again, and charged me nothing because they considered the hot water heater under warranty and they had installed it. I recently needed to get the shut off value for my hot water heater replaced, as the stem on the existing gate value had broken. I got a couple quotes, one being $275 (which in hindsight seems about appropriate). I then got a call back from Louis at Professional Plumbing Services. Louis seemed to understand the problem well, said the valve part itself was $40 and that PPS billed $120 for the first hour and then $60 per hour thereafter. Sounded reasonable, and at what seemed like an hour or two max job, it might come out about the same or lower than my previous quote and they had an opening the next day. Plumber showed up a few minutes early for our 9 AM appointment. Nice, affable guy that checked out the problem and then promptly disappeared back into his van for 15 minutes. Not a good sign in hindsight, haha. He emerged from the van and I expected to see a bunch of parts ready to assemble, but to my surprise it didn't appear like anything had been accomplished. The job ended up taking two and a half hours, with one more unexplained, unproductive disappearance into the van for 15 minutes during that time. Also, when cutting out the old section of pipe, the plumber didn't account for the water already in the line, which sprayed everywhere, with I'd estimate a half gallon to gallon of water overflowing into the wall cavity that the pipe was located in. I checked the moisture level in that wall the next day and the bottom half of the wall had a 100% moisture reading, necessitating that I cut another hole in the drywall at the bottom of the wall to avoid a potential mold issue down the road. I've attached a picture of the finished work. It looks like a total of 8 soldered joints and a couple compression joints. Note: I had him add support for 1/4" connection to feed the ice maker on my garage refrigerator. In total, I'd say it took two hours of work and 30 minutes sitting in his car. After completing this, I had him take a look at a slow draining sink that I believe had some root inundation in the line. Prior to starting that work he asked if I minded if he took a short break. I said sure, just knock on the door when you are ready. He disappeared into his truck for another 20 minutes. On to the clogged drain work ... So he snaked the sink one time, didn't come back with anything and thought that the sink was draining at an acceptable rate. I disagreed and got him to snake it a second time, upon which he pulled out a four foot section of root. Upon seeing the root, he said had never seen that come out of a drain, had no ability to address the issue, and that I should call a different plumber to look at it. He snaked it two more times (for a total of 4 attempts), but wasn't able to get anymore root out. He then said he would head out to his truck and put the invoice together. Creating the invoice took another 20 minutes. So the invoice total came to $665 w/ tax. Four hours of work plus parts ... with the ball valve that Louis quoted at $40 being listed on the invoice for $80. Same ball valve sells for Amazon for $20. I totally expect a markup on parts but 4x! So in the end, this is how the visit broke down time wise: Onsite 9AM - 1PM - Replace ball valve - 2 hrs - 2 x 15 minute disappearances into truck - 30 minutes - Rest in between ball valve and snaking sink - 20 minutes - Snaking sink - 40 minutes - Creating invoice - 20 minutes To summarize, I was charged for 70 minutes of time ($140) that was purely resting in his truck and creating the invoice after the work was completed. Add to that being overcharged for parts and I estimate I paid $200 more than I should have been charged. To top it off, I later discovered that the invoice was actually written to a completely different customers name and address, complicating my record keeping for the job. Louis called later and apologized for the paperwork mix up and said he would get me proper paperwork with me listed as the customer ... well needless to say I never heard from him again or received said paperwork. Needless to say, I will not be using PPS again, I recommend you take your business elsewhere. I hope my experience saves someone else! read more

Louis provided a detailed estimate of the work to be performed and a timeline that was met to the tee, with no surprise add-ons. We contacted many plumbers and PPS was the only one who showed up on time, spelled out what was needed and immediately got back to us with a very good price that was very competitive with several other plumbing contractors, but they were the only one who put it in a detailed estimate. OK, now this really bothers me... I did not write a review for this company in the past and I would never write a review for this company for several different reasons. I am a small interior design firm and have used this company in the past. I understand owning a small business is difficult. I believe that honesty is number one and this company is not being honest because they're using my name to write a fake review and I do not like it one bit. We used them to install a gas line to our clients multi million dollar home and as it turned out it was not installed properly, someone smelled gas and called the fire department, thank God. Fortunately the problem was fixed before the house blew up. I hired them to replace the water and drain lines for my house. Big mistake. Price was good but you get what you pay for. pipe support was made by smashing a copper pipe and wedging it between the floor joists. they had the vent line coming out of the outer wall by cutting a 4" oval hole for a 2" round pipe. I contracted with Professional Plumbing Services (PPS; owner Louis Moon) to upgrade my one and only bathroom, which involved demolishing and replacing the shower and the sink-vanity. The job could easily have been done in 10 days and Louis promised to complete it within two weeks. However, he took a full month because of unnecessary delays and mistakes. It seems as if PPS needs to hire a project manager or supervisor for each contracted job. My bathroom upgrade lacked coordination and efficiency. Obviously, no work was done on most days. I was promised that all parts were available when I signed the contract. However, after the demolition I learned that some parts had not even been ordered and were not on island. None of the technicians seemed to know what the others were doing, although they all kept their appointments. The office manager Donna is not a good fit for a job that requires contact with the public. I complained to Louis about the mistakes and delays and he is to be commended for taking responsibility for some of them (although he did not subsequently become more efficient). He is aware of issues with the office manager. Louis did deduct 5% off the price and did an extra small job at no additional cost to compensate for taking over twice as long as necessary to complete the job. Louis claimed that it is unusual for his jobs to involve so many mistakes and unnecessary delays. read more

Fill valve had to be replaced. Their plumber came and was very unprofessional in demeanor and look. He tried to oversell by stating that the whole toilet need to be removed and it will take about 3 hours just to replace a fill valve. At $ 122 an hour, he said it would cost about $400. I told him thats too much and he took his time to leave. I called another plumbing company, CJ plumbing and they were very professional and knowledgable and honest. It took them only 10 minutes to replace the valve and even checked other parts too. Professional plumbing services was dishonest, wanted to charge whopping $400, 3 hours work for 10 mi utes job. I have a rental unit that needed an upgrade to the master bedroom and bathroom. Louis the owner was very concerned with making sure he understood my vision for the project before ANYTHING was done. He made sure to address all my needs and as many of the wants that we could fit into the budget. He gave me a timeline of six weeks and did it 5 1/2. See, the tricky part of my project is that the tenants were still in the unit. PPS did an awesome job of making sure things went right and when it didn't they were quick to fix it. We were very close to staying on budget, but as you know with most renovation projects it's really difficult to know what you are up against and what changes will cost until the project is in full swing. But, the overall experience was great! Tenants were happy and they were ecstatic when they got a brand new Master Suite in exchange for the 5 1/2 weeks of discomfort and misplacement. My tenant described this new space as her "dream bathroom". Now, I'm going to have PPS do its magic on my own master bathroom. Professional Plumbing Services, Inc. Honolulu Review: I had a few experiences with this company and in my personal opinion the name of the company should be Unprofessional Plumbing Services, Inc. The first time we had a problem with our bathroom sink and one of the company employees was sent out to take care of the problem, my family and I were very pleased because it was done in an expedient fashion at a very reasonable price. However the next incident we had in our restroom was a hole in the basin and a crack in the counter top of our restroom sink that needed to be replaced. The company owner, let's just call him Louis, decided to take care of the problem himself. He came and took all the measurements for just the basin and had someone else from an outside company come in with him to measure for the counter top replacement. Upon leaving, the owner stated that he would call to inform me of a cost estimate for the entire job. I can't recall the exact amount that he gave me but I know that it was over a $1000.00. Being as I am currently on social security, something that I had mentioned to the owner, and only receive funds once a month I had to put repairs on hold for a few months to save enough money to get the job done. When I finally saved up enough money I called the owner once again and stated that I was ready to get the sink and counter top repaired. I also mentioned at the time of the call that my better half and 2-year-old daughter were planning to visit family in Germany for two and a half weeks in a month and a half's time and that I wanted to get the whole job done while they were away. "No problem!" was his reply. Long story short, a week went by after my significant other and daughter went to Germany and I didn't even receive a phone call or an email from the owner. So I took it upon myself to call him to find out what the deal was. His reply was, "Oh, I didn't forget about you. I need to find someone else to do the counter top replacement because the other guy that was originally going to do it has another job to do. Let me get back to you by tomorrow." Keep in mind that he had a month and a half to figure all this shit out! And to top it all off, he said that he didn't know where he put all the measurements that he took down and that the other guy who was supposed to originally do the counter top had misplaced all his measurements as well and that he and the new counter top replacement guy need to come and do all the measurements again. So a week and a half into my girlfriend and daughter's trip the owner and the counter top guy finally come to the house to get all the measurements. He stated to me that he would call me with a rough estimate as to the cost of the entire job. In reply I asked him to email me the total. He said okay! Four days before my girlfriend and daughter were to return to the islands, the owner decided to text me and this is the message verbatim: "Ok here it is, Demo and haul away counter top Prep cabnet, install sub top Install off white Corian Vanity top w-Porcilain sink, W-2 Back splashes Install new Delta wide spread lav faucet Total $1150 plus tax 1/2 down prior to start, let me know Joseph let me know if you have any Questions, I will wait to hear from U," The following day I replied, "I'm sorry that I couldn't get back to you yesterday. I had somewhat of a family emergency to take care of but if it's not too late I'd like to take care of this as soon as possible." His response was "Good morning Joseph, to get the ball rolling I need a check from U for 575 preferrably today if possible, let me know, so we can try to finish by next Friday. Thx" I replied "Sorry bro but I had told you over a month ago that I wanted it to be a surprise for both my girlfriend and daughter. Unfortunately they're coming home on Sunday! I was ready to pay the full amount by tomorrow but I guess I'll have to wait till they're back so we can make a decision together! Sorry brother! A day after my other half and daughter returned I received a text, "Good morning Joseph, I am waiting to hear from U about the down?" The following day, "Good morning Joseph, would it Be possible to stop bye today and pick up a check for 575 to get the ball rolling on this project?" Little did he know that I had already made up my mind to shop around for another company to take care of the job! Luckily I found another business and the plumber that did all the cost estimates quoted a price of $625.00 total. He also found the same type of counter top material as the original, which the owner of Unprofessional Plumbing Services, Inc. had stated would be too hard to find. And to top it off, the plumber installed both the counter top and the basin all himself!!! Our sink looks fabulous. I can only imagine the crap work that would have resulted had I decided to go with Unprofessional Plumbing Services, Inc.
