I asked for a long layered V cut in the back but the haircut looked like a U and it was extremely choppy. Never once did she show me the back or asked if I liked it. I was being gaslighted by the other hairstylists as if it was an amazing job. It was my fault that I was being nice about it but it turns out she was extremely inexperienced and most likely did not have a hair license. The other employees were joking about a cosmetology inspection and Julia having to go back to being a shampoo girl. Next was the hair dye, and I wanted gray dye with shadow roots. I totally understood if she could not do it and I communicated that, but she said it was okay but it would be a 2 day process because I have some red dyes. (The red dyes were not bright, it was more burgundy by the way) I went along with it because she was supposed to be the professional. After the 5-hour ordeal, the hair color ended up being dark brown/gray but it faded into a light blonde somehow. I called back to request a different hair stylist/colorist and to voice my concerns but the person dismissed my issues and said I could come in on my preferred day. Then, immediately HUNG UP ON ME. Wow! Not once did she ask what was wrong. What kind of place are they running? Anyone who is interested in this place, please do your due diligence and research your hairstylist and/or colorist. It seems as though they are throwing just anyone at the station and I felt completely taken advantage of as a person of color who has long, thick hair. I honestly never thought I would be writing a one-star review for this salon. I really liked my…read morestylist, appreciated the work she had done for me, and fully intended to continue being her client. That is probably why the way this ended was so upsetting and surprising to me. I had a full extension maintenance appointment scheduled for September, but I'm going on vacation and was hoping to have my hair done sooner. My stylist was completely booked and then going on vacation herself. I simply asked the salon whether another stylist might be able to help me. I continued trying to reach the salon through their text number, by phone, and by email. I wasn't trying to be difficult or demanding. I genuinely just wanted to know whether another stylist could do my hair before my trip. The salon was also holding additional extensions that I had already purchased and paid for, so when I eventually scheduled a consultation elsewhere, I needed to retrieve my own hair to bring with me. When I finally reached an employee by phone, I simply explained that I wanted to pick up my hair. She asked why, and I answered honestly that I had scheduled somewhere else because I needed to have it done before vacation and I haven't been able to get in touch with anyone at the salon. I thought that was the end of the conversation. Instead, shortly afterward I received a text from my stylist, who is also the owner. She told me she had spoken with the employee, accused me of being rude to her staff, and told me: "I think it's better for you to just come and get your hair and go elsewhere." She then told me she would not tolerate a client speaking to her staff that way and ended the message with: "Thanks for your business." I wasn't asking for special treatment. I wasn't angry that my stylist couldn't fit me in. I wasn't asking her to work during her vacation. I wasn't threatening to leave. I was simply trying to find another stylist who could accommodate me before my trip and, when that didn't work out, pick up the expensive extensions I had already purchased so I could have them done somewhere else temporarily. I genuinely wish someone had simply called me and said, "Hey, there seems to have been a misunderstanding. Can you tell me what happened?" I would have been more than happy to talk about it. Instead, a client who had every intention of returning was told to collect her belongings and go elsewhere. I'm attaching the relevant text messages/email because I don't want this review to become a situation where it's simply my word against someone else's. I'd rather potential clients read the actual exchange and decide for themselves how they feel about the way it was handled. I'm especially sharing this for other extension clients. Extensions are a significant investment, and in my case the salon was physically holding hair that I had already purchased. Communication and trust are incredibly important when a business is holding something expensive that belongs to you. I'm not happy to leave this review. I'm actually really disappointed that things ended this way because I didn't want to leave this salon in the first place. Unfortunately, after being spoken to this way and dismissed as a client over what I believe was a misunderstanding, I would not feel comfortable returning and cannot recommend the salon. I even waited for a response from her after I explained the misunderstanding, thinking she would at least acknowledge what happened or try to resolve things, but I never received one.
