Not at all what we discussed or what I wanted. My roots look exactly the same except for an orange face frame that isn't properly blended, a white spot on the side of my head and uneven length. The owner, Stephanie, is clearly unwilling to help and trust her colorists over the customer, so after insinuating that I'm lying, offered to fix my hair. Not sure who would ever return after how she speaks to customers. Beware if you aren't happy with your hair, you won't be getting it fixed! Total spent $415 plus tip. read more

I can't say enough about this place!!!! I have been going to Luna Hair for about 3 years now, and have always had an amazing experience! This is the first place I've gone in over 10 years that got my color right... the FIRST time. I prefer a copper red and until I walked into Luna, had not been able to find a stylist who could achieve this type of natural-looking redhead color. The ENTIRE staff here is so talented, sweet, genuine and welcoming. They are always helping each other out when they need a helping hand. The teamwork here is so admirable. I always look forward to my appointments and get compliments on my hair from day one, all the way to my next color appointment! My cuts are always amazing, too! I really do love this place! I moved a couple of months ago and my hair was badly needing a cut and color. My friend recommended this salon and I was not disappointed. There was minimal length removed since my hair is healthy and I'm growing it out, but she shaped it well and the balayage is *chef's kiss*. I'm headed back in a couple of weeks for extensions until my hair is long again, and I can't wait! My friend has hand tied extensions from here and they look natural. I was listened to and was communicated with before we began and that is the most comforting thing, especially at a new salon! read more

Update: 3 months since haircut I'm still trying to grow out my awful haircut that I received at Luna. I consulted a very experienced hair stylist that I know who no longer works in salons, and I was informed that the haircut I received at Luna was a mess in regard to technique. I was also told that this stylist that I consulted would never allow a person to walk out of their chair with the kind of haircut I received. I haven't cut or had my hair reshaped since I visited three months ago. I was advised to just let the uneven and inconsistent layers to grow out. This has been the worst haircut of my entire life thus far. Just avoid this place at all costs. I cannot express how much I despise this place and their manners. Maybe they should seriously consider evaluating and reevaluating their stylists if they want repeat clients. read more

I don't normally post reviews but my experience at Luna was a major let down. I was super excited to get my hair color done here based on all the amazing work they post on their Instagram. I went in with dark brunette hair with some grown out balayage & wanted to go a bit brighter. I showed the colorist a handful of pictures of what I was looking to do (basically keep my base color brunette but add brighter blonde balayage into it) & she said great and got started. Well... What I ended up with was nothing like what I had showed her in the pictures :/ My base color was lightened and ended up pulling red and the blonde highlight ended up being more of a strawberry blonde. The placement was beautiful but it was nothing like I asked for. I went home examined it more and I decided after all the money I spent that I should say something because I didn't like it and it was not what I asked for. The colorist was super nice and fit me in her schedule the next week... When I went in and met with her I nicely explained it just didn't turn out like the pictures I showed her and was pulling very red/warm. She agreed it pulled red and I re-showed her the pictures to remind her of what I was looking to accomplish. In which I was then basically told it could not be done. If that was the case, then why not communicate that at the initial appointment?! She ended up putting a gloss on it, which resulted in my hair becoming dark again but with a red hue. When I expressed I still wasn't happy (since it basically looked similar to the hair I originally walked in with) she walked away then came back and said I had two options to get refunded for my color and call it a wash/not come back or schedule for her to completely re-do my hair again (in which I'd be charged) & let me know that she could not guarantee that she could get my hair to the color I originally asked for. I took the refund. Do better Luna. What I asked for wasn't complicated & if it was simply communicated that it couldn't be done at the first appointment we could have avoided this review and time wasted. read more

I have never posted a bad review before but I feel that this time it is warranted. I had been looking forward to my appointment at Luna with Stephanie for well over a month. I had followed her on Instagram and her work looks amazing! I cant believe how disappointed I am with the results. The cut is horrible, one side is actually longer than the other and the layers are choppy. It looks like my toddler cut my hair. The color is awful too. I was so excited to try balayage but this is not what I see on her instagram pictures at all! One side is very heavily lightened with big, bold sections of hair lightened while the other is very subtle, more like babylights. It's as if two different people colored my hair! I cannot wear my hair straight and must either curl it or wear it up in a pony tail. So disappointed read more

not reliable, no respect for your time, not friendly. They have cancelled my appointments weeks after they let me book every single time. Saying the more experienced stylists will not accept me as new client then try to shuffle me off to less experienced stylists. After multiple occasions of rearranging my busy schedule, they pull the rug out ea time even tho they have availability bc they don't want a new client. They have been rude as you walk in, the owner Stephanie is not welcoming, borderline rude the few times I did accept one of their new stylists. Unless you're a long term client, already, they make you feel shunned. Dont waste your time. read more

If you like your hair, don't go here. Steph has cut my hair 3 times, and the first two were awesome. Ever since she got her own salon, it's like she forgot how to cut. I asked get it re-cut since the first time was absolutely awful. My friend said "did you ask her for the 'I got gum stuck in my hair cut', or the 'I'm trying to grow my bangs out'?" Honestly, You'd be just as well going to super cuts or the hair cuttery. Never again. I hate my hair now, and I have to just deal with it. My hair is still uneven in the front, the bottom is straight across and since she uses a RAZOR to angle it, the ends are gross. If you go, don't say I didn't warn you.... read more

While aesthetically pleasing to the eye Luna salon is over priced for the service it provides. To pay $180 plus tip for a solid color and four foil of highlights with no cut is ridiculous. In addition there was a miscommunication with me and the stylist on how I wanted my hair colored and the owner did not acknowledge or answer one thing I said. And Iin an attempt to support her stylist, which I can appreciate, she just came across cold and arrogant. Also the other stylists were complaining about their customers... Which I'm sure mine did when I left but she tried to at least keep it professional while I was there. Overall my hair looks nice even if it was not exactly what I wanted, but even if it was, I would not go back for the cost and lack of customer service. read more

I have been a client of both Stephane and Carla over the years, and they are truly the best at what they do. Before them, my hair was extremely unhealthy and failing to grow. After years of their services, my hair is shiny and finally at a beautiful length. Rather than seeing a stylist in the city, I make the drive from Fairmount because I am never disappointed. I receive compliments on my hair everywhere I go. While the balayage service may seem expensive, in reality you are saving money because there isn't a "blunt" line of roots as the hair grows out, causing your salon visits to be less infrequent. The salon is gorgeous, and every stylist there is truly passionate about helping their clients achieve a beautiful look. Buyer beware. I booked a full color service at this salon when I was looking to go back to my natural hair color. I went to the appointment and told my stylist my intentions and the results were great! I loved my hair. It was so similar to my natural color after being bleached for so long. However the employees continued to book the same service for me over and over again after that first appointment. I kept up w the appointments thinking that my stylist had a plan for me. It wasn't until I ran into some financial trouble and could not keep up with the expensive appointments that there was a problem. I did not confirm the next appointment and called to let them know as a courtesy that I would not be making It. They charged me $140 for cancelling an appointment that I never confirmed. I was upset by this and tried explaining my situation to the owner. She just told me that I was being aggressive and that I need to respect her cancellation policy. They clearly did not care that I was having a hard time financially or that I was a repeat customer. It really sucked and now I have even more debt. Feels kinda scammy?? read more

I loved going here. I was looking forward to making an appointment for months and I can say it was absolutely worth the wait. First, the inside of the salon is beautiful and well-decorated. Everyone I encountered was professional, warm, and kind. Ashley was very nice and listened to my hair history and what I wanted to do with my hair. I cannot emphasize enough how this was the most comfortable salon hair washing experience of my life. They have stools for your feet if you're on the shorter side, like me, so that your feet don't dangle. Also, they have these amazing things inside the washing bowls so that your neck isn't bent back while your hair is being washed and toned and instead lays flat. I left my appointment with my hair looking better than I could have ever imagined. I can't wait to book my next appointment. read more

This was my first time in the salon and the decor is perfection and the staff is so incredibly friendly. I came here for the first time because my friend recommended. the salon owner was very unprofessional about owning a business. She did not take it well when I said I'm not happy with the results and kept saying I need to come back and pay for another session. I asked her about the prices beforehand but she didn't tell me. I can't beleive what she charged for the work that was not even good. Very overpriced. I showed her a picture in the beginning and the final result doesn't even look close. If she was not able to do this, she should have said that in the beginning. I went with a friend who is also very unhappy about the work Stephanie did on her hair as well. read more

I've been coming to see Stephanie for a few years now and had always been happy with her work. I came to see her at her new salon for the first time and I was not happy with the results. The outcome was nowhere near what I had asked her. In the old salon she had offered my friend to come back and fix it when she wasn't happy. When I told her I wasn't happy this time, she didn't offer anything and charged me the full price. I don't think this is very professional for a new business. I have only been to Luna once after being a long time client of Currie, where several of the Luna stylists previously worked. I found Luna to be unfriendly, unprofessional and overpriced. They need to figure out their scheduling as I was forced to wait for my overbooked stylist and then rushed through my very expensive cut and color. I recently found Luna's page on Instagram and figured since, from what I could see, they did beautiful work I would give them a try. When I walked in I thought the salon was cute and the man working at the front desk was nice- he checked me in, called me by name asking if I needed anything, and went to get my stylist right away. While I waited I noticed the salon's owner walking through to the first chair closest to the desk, only giving somewhat dirty looks, but no, "hello or welcome" or acknowledging a new client whatsoever. I was then met by my stylist who sat me down and asked me what could she do for me. I told her that my hair has been previously bleached then box dyed a few months prior and from there things between us seemed to go down hill. She informed me that the process in making my hair light again would take years and she was not interested in "blasting" my hair simply because that's what I wanted (that's not what I was asking) and because she is just not that kind of stylist. I let her know that I realized my hair would not get to where I wanted it to be in one visit, but I was pretty confident it would lighten more then she believed due to past box dying and bleaching experiences. We went back and forth on the subject for about 15 minutes ending in she could only lighten it a shade or 2 lighter- I was exhausted from repeatedly explaining and told her that I was fine to proceed. From there I felt rushed through the process... I sat with foils for 30 minutes, washed and glossed, then she ripped through my wet hair and then told me my hair was just naturally "tangly". I told her that I use leave in conditioner at home to help with knots but she just continued with what she was doing. After that she told me that she could not cut my hair wet and would need to dry it first, and then to cut it I would need to stand because it was too long. By the end of my 2 1/2 hours, I was ready to run out of that place- I've never felt so uncomfortable at a salon in my whole life. The results were not horrible, the placement is very pretty, but for the amount of money I paid, my hair definitely could have looked closer to the results I wanted. When I went to pay I asked if it was ok if I tipped on my card since I did not have cash and I was told, "we frowned upon that". I believe that this place is unfriendly, unwelcoming, and way overpriced and for that I will NOT be going back. read more

ZERO STARS WOULD BE TOO MANY! I went to this Salon because the ambiance and pictures on Instagram would suggest that the stylists have some level of talent. This is HEAVILY outweighed by the level of unprofessional-ism and disgraceful customer service. The moment I walked in I could feel the stylists whispering under their breath and making eyes at customers. My stylist Courtney worked on THREE heads of hair at the same time. In fact, I never even sat at her chair. I was there for 4 hours but somehow felt completely rushed. As soon as I got rinsed, I knew the color was not what I wanted and mentioned it at that time. She INSISTED I let her blow it out to reevaluate and then before my hair was even finished drying, her next appointment arrived and I was hurried out of the chair. As soon as I got in my car I realized that she just let me leave this "high end" salon with PURPLE STREAKY HAIR. I texted her immediately (from my car) and she offered to get me back in to lighten it up only to stop answering me for FIVE WEEKS. After a dozen attempts to reach her, she finally communicated back to me that the salon would charge me an additional $175 to fix my botched hair. BTW I was charged $175 for a PARTIAL and got babylights I couldn't even see rather than bayalage I asked for. I was headed to an event directly from my 4 hour appointment at Luna hair where I was asked countless times why I decided to go purple with my hair. DISGUSTED by this experience. read more
