I am so glad we found this restaurant! It was the perfect dinner to end our Rome vacation. The staff was very friendly and helpful. To start, they brought us bread and about 6 plates of various appetizers. At first we felt overwhelmed, but they were the right amount and we actually ate everything. Every single dish we tasted was delicious! We also found prices to be very reasonable. When we come back to Rome we will visit them again.

It was our last…read moreday in Rome and since we wanted seafood, we thought that a Sardinian restaurant would be a good choice. Lucky us to have chosen Eleonora d'Arborea. Located in an outer neighborhood (you can take a bus from Pizazza Venezia to within a couple of blocks of the restaurant), we had a late reservation but entered to find the comfortable main rooms still active and lively. When our waiter realized we spoke English, he sought out the owner who helped us navigate the large menu of choices and with his encouragement, we made a meal of primarily the restaurant's starters. We had crudos and tartares, raw clams, and plates of fish and vegetables. The food was extraordinary. Probably the best seafood I've ever had, and I grew up on the New England coast and now live in NYC -- I think I know fish. We also enjoyed a delicious Sardinian wine and ended the meal with the owner's treat of two small glasses of a strawberry liqueur, house-made. Our only regret was that it was our last day in Rome and couldn't return to try more things on the menu. We appreciated the restaurant's friendliness, helpful service, and most of all, the superb fish and shellfish. If I can't travel to Sardinia, I can only hope to return soon to Rome so we can eat at Eleonara d'Arborea again.

They are known for the best Truffle anything anywhere. lol. A little tricky to find and very small. Maybe 6 or 7 tables at most. I was surprised when I read the Yelp reviews that a few of my awesome Yelpers also dined here too and gave high marks so I was very excited to give them a try. After ordering some tasty vino we went the Focaccia with mozzarella, black truffle with a truffle cream sauce. The Focaccia was lite and a thin crust. Topped with some delicious mozzarella and black truffle made this appetizer and home run choice. After the Focaccia I decided to stay on theme and went with the Fettuccine al tartufo nero e porcini (fettuccine black truffle & porcini mushrooms). Holy cow, a delicious culinary delight. Some other hits of the table included the beef fillet with green pepper sauce & Digione mustard. Astice grigliato, verdure al vapore e maionese alla curcuma (Grilled lobster with steamed veggies in a mayonnaise turmeric sauce and a Lasagna, tartufo nero, funghi, mozzarella e grana (lasagna with blach truffle, mushrooms, mozzarella and Parmesan cheese) All were just amazing. Impeccable service and an old world Italian charm decor made this a delightful experience.

Though we did not speak any Italian, the shop owner was very welcoming and polite! We told him (as best we could) that we were from America and he treated us super kindly. He offered us appetizers (on the house!) so that we could sample true Italian seafood. He sent over grilled shrimp on crusty Italian bread with grilled asparagus, followed by a fritter of sorts which consisted of a ball of extremely tiny fish. The "fritter" is something I wouldn't have considered ordering as eating small fish whole isn't something I'd normally do, but it was good! For our meals, we ordered the fried seafood platter which consisted of calamari, anchovies, and other small fish and crustaceans. Wow. I was blown away! We cleaned the plates! I recently began planning a trip to Italy for next year and knew that I'd have to mark this place for a return visit. It's truly a testament to how good the food is if, after four years, I can vividly remember what I ate! Can't wait to go back next year!
