Amazing supplier, beautiful fish, dysfunctional staff, half ass kitchen.

I have to be honest this was supposed to be highly recommended and unfortunately is the catch of the day OUCH they have a big problem - staff - no respect screaming at the top of their lungs in the restaurant three times I counted silverware falling on the floor They just kept bashing plates and throwing silverware around as they just didn't give a F you star K about their customers food??so I will be honest they seems like a Bear in a Lake they just have great Supplier. Whoever is supplying them their food is amazing the fish look great. But for me that's where it ends. It's a JOKE. Just wandering around ignoring customers that obviously need their assistance what the hell throwing around silverware... going for 15 over minutes without silverware for the food??? WTF! Crazy absolutely crazy shouting screaming dropping things throwing silverware around ALL NIGHT LONG? MADHOUSE. To add insult to injury and there's chill vibe music going on in the background like you had a Mexican Riviera seaside resort. Do yourself a favor. Skip this experience. I got no side plate. No silverware. No dice. Overpriced. Under delivered. waste of time and money it's obviously a shame that such amazing produce is getting wasted with such a disturbing staff and kitchen. The food was undercooked twice both dishes I ordered! It seems as though they pride themselves in raw seafood maybe that's because they don't know how to cook it probably chefs that come straight to the culinary school could do better!

My first meal after arriving in Rome was here and i was starving when i got there. Service really went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. The food was good but very expensive. My favorite was the fritto misto. It's a romantic place and good food, but at a cost.

    Lemon trofie with sea bass

We had dinner here for our first night in Rome and we loved it. We spent the past few days in Florence and had the most delicious meals there. But I must say the dinner we had here is one of the best meals we have had thus far. I ordered the trofie pasta with sea bass and lemon - such a clean dish - the pasta was chewy and filled with flavor. My husband ordered the gnocchetti with red shrimp - a flavor explosion and an indescribable sweet & savory taste. For our main we ordered the clams -simply perfection. Dessert- try the ice cream in the walnut and chestnut -it's divine. The service was great! We didn't have the problems some of the other reviewers noted. The servers tried their best to welcome us and ensure we had a nice evening. We don't really have issues with menus being in Italian completely (personally I tend to shy away from restaurants with menus that include English because I want to eat where the locals do) but for those who are concerned, it seems the restaurant has updated their menus to include English. Tip: if you're at a loss - get recommendations from the waiters. There's a seafood chowder we wish we could have tried but you must pre-order that a day in advance. My only gripe is that the wine we had was 8€ a glass. Very over priced. The food is a bit pricey too but it's good quality seafood. We skipped the raw stuff because we didn't want to risk getting sick while traveling - but oh how I wish we could have tried it! Certainly worth a stop here!

We asked for a table outside and the kind lady asked us if we had a reservation (oh oh). We didn't. No problem as we took our pick of one of the tables. Two levels inside with a small Bar in the back. Before we knew it, outside seating was full and inside also filled up-a good sign. We ordered a liter (ended up being too much but when in Rome...) of their house Red and enjoyed it. For starters, we ordered the Fried Artichokes (thick breading and will order the Roman style with garlic/vinegar next time), fried Zucchini and Suppli-Cacio Pepe. The Suppli was delicious and was enjoyed the most. For main, it was Pasta Carbonara (Guanciale )-Proper carbonara and the streak of not having a bad version of this dish in Rome continues. The sliced Beef with mushrooms was also delicious -super tender and thin pieces of beef (medium rare as requested). We asked if the Tiramisu was house-made. Our server answered, "yes, and I am the one who makes it." How could we not order after that?! One of the best Tiramisus we've had. Perfect balance of coffee dipped lady fingers with cream-delicious! Our Server was kind, attentive and full of hustle -she was covering a lot of ground. Don't miss this Gem if you are in the Prati district.

I'm glad we did. The wait for a table was a little long and we really wanted a place to sit and relax after a long day touring the Roman Forum & the Colosseum. After about about 40 minutes we were finally seated and the server & host were very nice and fun to chat with. You can tell they enjoy what they do. For the antipasti, aka appetizers, we had Fried Squids aka calamari & Carciofo allá Giudia aka Crunchy artichoke were excellent. Our main courses we ordered lamb leg with roasted potatoes, absolutely delectable. I don't recall the what the salad he suggested was called. He said it's not on the menu but he wanted me to try it. Only in Rome he said. It was a crunchy cold salad with some type of fish sauce as a dressing. Very crisp and refreshing. The Squid stuffed with prawn (aka shrimp), so tasty. Also, the ravioli with fresh tomato sauce, so savory! For desert we had the creamy tiramisu. They should change it to the dreamy tiramisu because it was heaven. The host played a prank on my daughter and brought her. Plate with one noodle and a little bacon bit. He said the plate of spaghetti allá carbonara was "no charge!" They also had some wine that they served up in what looked like shot glasses. We didn't have any but after seeing the alcohol percentage I see why it was served in such a small quantity. 26% alcohol !!

Our family of four was waiting to be seated when a local family of four arrived after us and was seated immediately. We were eventually seated right next to them, and they were served bread while we were ignored and received none. We ordered wine that was never brought to the table, and at one point a waiter who was not even serving us removed our wine glasses after we had already ordered the wine. The service throughout the meal was chaotic and rude. The artichoke dish was extremely bland -- no seasoning and no flavor at all. Most of the food was greasy and disappointing. To make matters worse, we were seated directly next to the kitchen where the cooks and waiters were loudly arguing throughout our meal. We understand that service in Italy is often slower and more relaxed, and we have enjoyed wonderful hospitality everywhere else during our trip. However, this was by far the worst service we experienced anywhere in Italy. We were even asked if we wanted the bill before we had finished eating, while the local family next to us remained seated comfortably long after finishing their meal. We left feeling unwelcome and discriminated against. Unfortunately, this restaurant seemed interested only in serving locals well. If you are not Italian, do yourself a favor and dine elsewhere. We absolutely do not recommend this place.

We split a salad that was big enough for a meal, my wife had the bolognese, and I had the steak. It was super rare, but as I cut into it, I would lay it onto the stone to allow it to cook a bit more. I like it on the lean side of medium rare and my wife prefers a bit more. This was perfect for us to both enjoy it the way we like. Her pasta was excellent as well and we enjoyed sharing the meal. A bottle of wine topped off a great dinner. The weather was rainy so we opted to sit inside and it was warm and welcoming. Our waiter was helpful with our choices and we enjoyed his observations. The only thing I can say that was off, was the older woman who was paying her bill before me was pressured into leaving a tip ( service charge, is what he said). I was prepared for that but was not asked to tip. Great meal, we enjoyed it immensely, but the service charge that was scammed out of the 70+ year old lady in front of me kind of left a sour taste in my mouth. I was going to tip a few euros because we enjoyed ourselves so much, but decided not to because of the way it was presented to the party before us.

We had a calzone and traditional spaghetti and both were delicious. I don't even know how to describe the calzone. It was unlike anything I've had before but SO good. He was upset with the host because he had burned the plastic on the outdoor tent as he had placed a heater too close to it. To be honest, he seemed like a bit of a jerk, but his food was freaking delicious.

It is a large restaurant and was full of lively patrons. The indoor decor is warm and inviting. The first thing I noticed was the camaraderie between the waitstaff - everyone seemed to get along, helped each other and were having fun. We had 2 wonderful Filipino waiters. One had the same Ray-Ban meta glasses as my husband, which they bonded over. We ordered the bombolotti carbonara and lasagna-both delicious. For the mains, grilled Turbot (which was perfectly de-boned tableside) and meatballs w/ mashed potatoes. While the waiter was de-boning the fish, the song "Take Me Home, Country Roads" by John Denver came on overhead. My husband and I both looked at each other and smiled, thinking WTH?! I asked the waiter, "did we tell you we were from West Virginia?" and he smiled and shook his head. But later confessed, he played it for us (I guess we did tell him, lol). It made our night. Rome was the last city in our multi-city 12 day tour and we loved every minute but we were looking forward to going home. Hearing "Country Roads" at a popular and busy restaurant a block away from the Spanish Steps blew our minds. A young couple sat next to us for a quick snack, I asked her what she ordered (it looked delicious) and she said "Im from a different part of Italy but come here just for their artichokes". A few minutes later, I saw a plate full of artichokes pass by, being brought to a table outside. They made my mouth water. Al 34 was one of our favorite restaurants in Italy -- wonderful food (extensive menu), very lively with a mixed crowd (lots of Asians, English speakers and native Italians). It is a fun place to go and the wait staff is one of the reasons I will be coming back. I cant wait to try their artichokes! If you see the word, carciofo (artichoke), order it!
