Quaint little place close to basilica of St John Lateran, reasonable lunch options , $10 bottle of wine, $8prosciutto & melon and $15 entree. Close to SanGiovanni district as well

Our best meal in Italy! We had the fried octopus, bolognese spaghetti, swordfish, and seafood ravioli. All excellent. The service was great, attentive and accommodating. The place is cute and modern. Excellent dessert's!

I adore this restaurant. It has been a long time dream to eat real, properly made, and delicious Roman dishes IN Rome and this place came through. The cacio e pepe and carbonara quite literally made me emotional. It's so good. The mussels were also excellent, as was the fish and shrimp ravioli. We spent 4 days in Rome and ended up here twice. Hands down the best meals we had during our entire trip. Just go ahead and order the liter of the house red, you're going to want all of it. We even asked for more wine to go, which I don't think they do regularly because they filled us up a spare bottle from the back and it was perfect. The couple who runs is are accommodating and kind, no matter how much or how little Italian you know. Support places like this!

This was a highlight to our visit to Rome. The food was amazing, fresh pasta and ingredients in the dishes. We loved the house wine. The atmosphere just added to our experience. Across From the famous stairs, if you're nearby you must give this place a try!

Great spot for dinner! Had the mushroom pasta, clam pasta, and carbonara and we all enjoyed our dishes. The breads and snacks that come out in the beginning were good as well. The house white wine was delicious. Highly recommend making reservations as they get busy from 7:30PM.

@justpadge_eats Let me start of by saying 'RESPECT' to Frankie for an amazing dining experience. He chatted with us throughout our meal, a very genuine man. You can tell the passion and love for his job just in the way he speaks. I started off with the Sauté di Cozze (Muscles Sautéed) the portion size was larger than expected and they were so good I couldn't keep them for myself. I rarely share my food so my friends jumped at the chance to try some. Their reactions were similar to mine, bliss! These muscles were Silky, Smooth, Buttery are the first three words to pop into my head. Next the wife wanted me to take a picture of her dish she was so excited (and also let me try some) Cacio e Pepe (Cheese and Black Pepper) simple ingredients but a mouthful of flavor. I decided on the Ravioli di Pesce Cremolati con Gamberi e Zafferano (Ravioli stuffed Fish, Shrimp and Saffron Cream) when asked how it was, I couldn't answer and took another bite. I was in another place, this dish damn near broke da mouf! You can taste the love placed in making this dish. For dessert we had a Tiramisu that Frankie made himself. Like I said in previous posts, Italy is going to get me enjoying desserts. Then came a Limoncello Sorbet that was made right in front of us that was the icing on the cake. Smooth like gelato! Thanks again for a memorable evening.

This is probably my favorite restaurant I've eaten at not only in Italy but in Europe. The seafood risotto here is top notch. I still think about it from time to time. The service is great as well, as meals come with complimentary champagne here.

Our hotel manager had suggested another restaurant, but I was apprehensive to try, but did later, more on that restaurant review in it's own post. I rather did what I should have done throughout the trip to, which is to search google for local reviews. This tactic I found to be much better than to trust American reviews for restaurants to visit from Youtube or even here, just because the American touristy taste tends to favor bland or Olive Garden style pseudo Italian. The real Italian taste is much different and something one needs to develop. I was familiar with European Italian food, as I had said before in other reviews that Mexico has better Italian food outside of Italy. Additionally, the good restaurants here in Italy do not open before 7 PM. If it does or if someone that looks foreign to Italy is outside trying to lure you in, it's a tourist restaurant with iffy flavor. At this restaurant my husband had the Lobster pasta and I had the spinach/ricotta ravioli, and we both were beyond satisfied. We also had the artichoke as an appetizer, and trusted the waiter with his suggestion for a bottle of wine. He must have been some genius because the wine went well with our meal. The ambience was cozy and very family oriented, however, the rain outside made it romantic for us. Another key point for this restaurant and it traditional flare was that they brought out the olive oil and red vinegar for our salad and of course olive oil for our wonderful home-made bread. I'm so glad we chose this place for those of us Americans who understand culinary cuisine.

I was surprised when I read the Yelp reviews that a few of my awesome Yelpers also dined here too and gave high marks so I was very excited to give them a try. After ordering some tasty vino we went the Focaccia with mozzarella, black truffle with a truffle cream sauce. The Focaccia was lite and a thin crust. Topped with some delicious mozzarella and black truffle made this appetizer and home run choice. After the Focaccia I decided to stay on theme and went with the Fettuccine al tartufo nero e porcini (fettuccine black truffle & porcini mushrooms). Holy cow, a delicious culinary delight. Some other hits of the table included the beef fillet with green pepper sauce & Digione mustard. Astice grigliato, verdure al vapore e maionese alla curcuma (Grilled lobster with steamed veggies in a mayonnaise turmeric sauce and a Lasagna, tartufo nero, funghi, mozzarella e grana (lasagna with blach truffle, mushrooms, mozzarella and Parmesan cheese) All were just amazing. It is a large restaurant and was full of lively patrons. The indoor decor is warm and inviting. The first thing I noticed was the camaraderie between the waitstaff - everyone seemed to get along, helped each other and were having fun. We had 2 wonderful Filipino waiters. One had the same Ray-Ban meta glasses as my husband, which they bonded over. We ordered the bombolotti carbonara and lasagna-both delicious. For the mains, grilled Turbot (which was perfectly de-boned tableside) and meatballs w/ mashed potatoes. While the waiter was de-boning the fish, the song "Take Me Home, Country Roads" by John Denver came on overhead. My husband and I both looked at each other and smiled, thinking WTH?! I asked the waiter, "did we tell you we were from West Virginia?" and he smiled and shook his head. But later confessed, he played it for us (I guess we did tell him, lol). It made our night. Rome was the last city in our multi-city 12 day tour and we loved every minute but we were looking forward to going home. Hearing "Country Roads" at a popular and busy restaurant a block away from the Spanish Steps blew our minds. A young couple sat next to us for a quick snack, I asked her what she ordered (it looked delicious) and she said "Im from a different part of Italy but come here just for their artichokes". A few minutes later, I saw a plate full of artichokes pass by, being brought to a table outside. They made my mouth water. Al 34 was one of our favorite restaurants in Italy -- wonderful food (extensive menu), very lively with a mixed crowd (lots of Asians, English speakers and native Italians). It is a fun place to go and the wait staff is one of the reasons I will be coming back. I cant wait to try their artichokes! If you see the word, carciofo (artichoke), order it!
