I received a postcard in the mail advertising a special offered by Progressive Dental & Associates and decided to give them a try. It was very easy to schedule an appointment. I called Thursday and they actually had appointments available Friday and Monday. I scheduled the appointment for Monday and received phone call and text reminders. When I arrived for the appointment, I was greeted immediately and upon completing the paperwork, they gave me a tour of the facility which is updated, clean, and nice. They took me to the room for the x-rays and then Dr. Durr performed the exam. I experienced Dr. Durr as progressional and kind, but I would have appreciated him giving me feedback regarding my x-rays and exam. He didn't share any information with me, which is a big contrast to my previous dentist who always provided a summary in terms of how my gums were doing, if the x-rays showed anything, if everything looked good, etc. Once the exam was finished, the woman who completes the x-rays indicated that I was approved to have my cleaning, which was strange since that was the reason I scheduled the appointment. The special offer included the x-rays, exam, and cleaning all for $49, which really is a great deal - so it was my assumption that of course the cleaning would happen. Then she says that it would be 20 minutes before I would have the cleaning and asked if that was ok. So I indicated that I didn't realize that there was a possibility that the cleaning wouldn't happen and if that's the normal process, new customers should receive that information when scheduling the appointment (e.g., please be aware that if anything significant is found on your x-rays or during the exam, the dentist may postpone your cleaning) for purposes of transparency. I also didn't really have a choice but to wait for the cleaning since that was my reason for coming in the first place. I will say that Dr. Durr was very accommodating and when he heard my concern, they did a little bit of rearranging so that I didn't have to wait the 20 minutes, which I really appreciated. The hygienist, Lisa, was personable and very thorough. As someone who gets my teeth cleaned every four months usually (although I'm off schedule so it's been about seven months), I felt she did a nice job and my teeth felt good. Non-related to my experience, but important to note, I was a bit disappointed by the lack of ethnic diversity used for their advertisements. Out for the money!!! Went and got braces for about 5000 up front then 2 years later they are telling me that I need to pay an Extra 7000for fake teeth but that wouldn't even make sense because I don't have space just gaps that can easily be closed with braces . read more

I have been going to Dr. Durr for a few years and have never been disappointed. I like the reminders by text and phone calls for up-coming visits. The staff at Progressive Dental are all very friendly. The office very clean and modern. Lisa, the hygentist is such a sweetie and personable. Dr. Durr was very attentive and answered all my questions. I wasn't rushed, he took his time and explained the procedures he performed and gave me recommendations about other work that I could have and possible may need. I'm extremely disappointed with the unprofessionalism of this dental office, I agree with Carey W. these people are only after money and not the overall care for patient dental care services. Dr Durr was my dentist for several years until about a year ago. I made several visits to his office because of an issue with a crown that was never resolved. I became very frustrated because each visit I had to take time off work because there are no Saturday or evening appointments. The front office failed to contact when my temporary crown was not available. I had already taken the day off work. I did not receive an apology only to be asked to reschedule. I was quite upset! I have since found a dentist that offers Saturday and evening hours. I am very pleased with his service. I would not recommend Dr Durr as a dentist. His prices are on the higher side and the front office is only concern with money. They make sure they sell you everything including an electric toothbrush that you can purchase cheaper at Walmart. read more

I went to the dentist for a four o'clock appointment to get a cavity fill on October 23, 2016. At four-ten another patient came in and they took care of him. At four-sixteen, I went into the back. At four-thirty, the hygienist came in the room and numb the right side of my mouth. I thought this was odd but maybe the doctor was running a little late. She injected me 4 times. I am not sure if she used a different needle but I felt several pinches and then she repeated three more times with several pinches in my mouth. After she was done, I became very jittery and drowsy. In the other room, I heard the patient who came in after me telling Dr. Durr's assistant that she did not answer his question. Her response was, "what was your question." After being in the room until five-twenty, I decided to go up front to check on my son and sat with him. Then the patient left and the receptionist told me the doctor was ready. On the way back to my room, I seen the doctor was talking to a female patient. Ten minutes later, he came to my room and told me he need to numb me again. I informed him that the hygienist already gave me four shots and that I was jittery. I also mention a little girl died because she was given too many injections. Dr. Durr told me it goes by weight and the worst it could do is to put me to sleep. Doctor Durr began to drill and I felt this horrible pain. At this time, he told me, he need to numb me more so I will be comfortable. At that time, I told him to continue. About 8 minutes later, the hygienist was suctioning the saliva from my mouth. When he was done, he ask me to bite down to make sure the filling was not too high. I told him I could not tell. He said to let him know how I felt after the swelling went down. At that point, I left very upset. The next day, my throat was sore. I spit out something white. It still bother me to swallow and I had some pain in my new filling. I call the dentist office to talk to Dr. Durr and the receptionist told me that he was busy and could she relay a message. I told the reception that my throat was sore and I had some sensitivity in the filling when I drank a smoothie. Then I told her I had a doctor appointment on Wednesday and I will have my doctor look at my throat. She told me to call her tomorrow and let her know the results. It turn out I had Oral Mucosal Ulcer and my doctor prescribe some medicine to take. The next day, I call the dentist and cancel all future appointment for me and my child. I also contact Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation on October 27, 2017 who call me today. Let your voice be heard. I would like to say this place is EXTREMELY unprofessional and MONEY HUNGRY. I write this with the hopes that I am preventing some family from undergoing the unnecessary charges and stress this place has given me. From the front desk to the dentist, the only person that is professional and friendly is the hygienist. She was very kind and gentle. However, I approached the desk to learn that an appointment I thought was free turned out to be anything but that. I paid, just under the impression that perhaps I misheard the agreement over the phone, however, I went back up to ask again. The billing lady made up an excuse about my insurance not covering the procedure and whatever and that I needed something else done that I didn't need,and her and the dentist just starred at me like I came from a third world country and brushed me off after her awkward random blurting of an excuse. I then sit in the chair, just to have something I told them I didn't need done actually DONE, and the billing lady who plays and integral role here, ran in AGAIN to "warn" me of the cost after it was too late. And now frustrated I asked one more time what I paid for and she told me it was for a completely different reason, a broken appointment. I went from walking in and being told "Your appointment will cost__" to "Oh your insurance wont cover this" to "It's for your broken appointment." Now I feel tricked. So this place will charge you 25 dollars if you don't cancel the appointment within 48 hours but that's IMPOSSIBLE to do that if you call on a Friday. Keep in mind, I cancelled the first appointment because I was having tests done in the hospital and my immediate health was more important at the time. They do not care. After I was done, the dentist himself came in. He rushed in, did not introduce himself which is very important, mumbled goodmorning, and when I replied back gave me an uninterested "mhm." He proceeds to speak under his breath, question previous work I had done, and I had to take my over cover off, and was not even given a polite goodbye but was told where I could go to pay. That awkward and uncomfortable encounter took 2 minutes. I then step out to the dreadful billing assistant again and she passes me along to her friend and literally I can promise you I will never come back to this place again. It is very sloppy and no one likes to feel tricked, especially when it comes to someone playing around in your mouth. To think, if I wouldn't have questioned exactly what I was paying for, I would have had a better experience is upsetting because that's the problem with most places that choose PROFIT or quality. They care about COSTS at the risk of losing patients and their patients' trust and comfort. They are full of excuses, there is no such thing as getting clarity or an accurate explanation, and this place surely will further any anxiety you will have about going to the dentist for sure!
