I was pleasantly surprised upon arrival that there was only one other person ahead of me. I was seen maybe 5 minutes after my appointment time and was in and out in less than 45 minutes. Parking was also easy with an hour validated parking in their garage. They also had a few patient dedicated spots. The nurse and PA that I saw were nice and listened to my symptoms and concerns. They were professional and provided good care. I would definitely return to this location if I needed same day care again.

When I went to Optum Care Network's San Diego Sports Medicine's Urgent Care clinic for treatment, I was subjected to multiple iterations of ineffective treatment plans and was verbally harassed when I attempted to get assistance for obtaining a CA DMV Disabled Person Placard. More specifically, the only thing offered by Monica (the Office Manager) was an abundance of vindictive rhetoric couched in audacity, ignorance and false accusations. It was abundantly clear from her delusional behavior that Monica believes that patients exist to serve and support the needs of clinic staff and not the other way around. Instead of hiding patient issues requiring escalations that need to be properly addressed by those in charge of the Medical Group, one should expect that the true SDPMG leadership team would want to properly investigate and make quality improvements to service levels in order to properly resolve such matters. Regrettably, my experience was that the Medical Group leadership allegedly hide in anonymity and enable their incompetent subordinates to make unqualified decisions. This type of behavior may imply that this medical practice is all about making profits at patient's expense and not about patient satisfaction and service level quality.

But the reason I'm writing a review is because I was extremely unprepared for how horrifically painful this procedure would be, and I want to raise awareness regarding the need for better pain management and help other women know what to expect when getting/removing an IUD. (My first IUD insertion 8 years ago was quite painful, but it wasn't as bad as today; and if anything, I thought the second round would be better given my familiarity with the process.) The insertion/removal itself only took a couple minutes and was "successful" but the pain was excruciating, nearly torturous and unbearable. The removal was incredibly bad, I had a consistent dull pain during the measurement, and then the insertion was incredibly bad. Immediately afterward I began sweating uncontrollably, shaking, blacking out, and feeling feverish and like I was going to vomit. I was assured it would pass. It did, eventually (I spent an extra hour in the office being monitored and another hour in my car waiting until I no longer felt light-headed to drive.) But I am baffled at the idea that what I experienced (both during and after) is considered normal or acceptable for any patient. The pain is grossly downplayed by medical professionals as a "pinch" or "cramping" and the idea that a little ibuprofen is going to be sufficient to manage it is ridiculous. There are countless firsthand stories of women describing this shocking and agonizing pain, yet all the official sites/resources continue to use language that downplays it, and it seems consistently downplayed in the room right before the procedure. Pain management should be at the forefront of any IUD discussion. Topical lidocaine appears to be pretty commonly used and recommended now, but that was not brought up as an option for me. My visit summary mentions a "minor vagal reaction" and makes no reference to pain at all. If that's how most of these procedures are recorded, no wonder people continue to write off IUD insertion pain as not that serious. Women aren't out here complaining just for the hell of it. This is a problem, and this procedure does not need to be agonizingly painful.

He provided a thorough evaluation and gave me a very encouraging report, which I greatly appreciated. However, I especially want to recognize Ashley. She is truly outstanding. I've had countless blood draws over the years, and this was by far the best experience I've ever had. She found a vein immediately, drew the blood quickly and efficiently, and I honestly didn't feel a thing. Beyond her skill and professionalism, Ashley is one of the kindest and sweetest healthcare professionals I've ever met. She has a wonderful bedside manner that instantly puts patients at ease. Ashley turned what is usually my least favorite part of a medical visit into a completely stress-free experience. Perlman Clinic is fortunate to have her on their team. I've also moved a ton so have never had a chance to develop a rapport with a Doctor until now. I have been seeing Dr. Falquier for 3 years now and LOVE her. I have been (until the last 4 weeks) been a healthy young woman and only visited her on the routine occasions for the regular check ups etc. about a month ago i developed a sever back issue that is still going on. I have seen her about 4 times in the past month as she is tireless in trying to find the right resolution for my pain. She is so friendly and understanding, I know that she has my best interest at heart. I'm also very glad at how young she is as she won't be retiring anytime soon and I hope she is my doc forever. Everyone at the downtown location is very courteous and fast, and friendly. I've hit the Urgent care 3 times and always been seen very quickly. All that aside though, Dr. Falquier rocks. That doctor wasn't accepting new patients but Dr. Falquier was, and boy am I thankful for that. Finding a good doctor is always tough, and after a couple of false starts, I'm really happy that I found her. She's totally on the ball, makes you feel comfortable, genuinely seems to care (imagine that!), and is funny to boot. These are recommendations which have been recently suggested, phone-based calls on Molina Healthcare public phone number, several transfers, suggested phone numbers, ALL for nothing! Due to this year's change in insurance. I've had to suffer the ineptitude of Molina...particularey any mental health protocol. Shocking! and potentially harmful. 100% incompetent/ negligent. I was transferred at least 8 times, plus "call-back" numbers...simply trying to obtain a 10-15 minute appt with a genuine MD, specializing in Psychiatry. ALL I require is the continuation of existing meds prescribed by my last Dr. What's so hard about that? I spent from 11:30am to 4pm exhaustively TRYING to connect to a legit psychiatrist's office to make a simple appt!!! What the hell is wrong with you people?!? i USED TO TRUST YOU. 4 1/2 hrs is LONG ENOUGH!!!
