I have been using progressive auto insurance since 2012, but yesterday I was told because I had filled 3 claims where two were verified not-at-fault that I could no longer renew my policy. I have always paid on time, and driven responsibly. I had no problems with them until I moved to the Atlanta Metropolitan area where I commute to work every day. I called yesterday seeing if I could dispute the outcome, and I was told no. I could only dispute if my claims were put in by error. There was no fraud on my side. My vehicle had been hit is traffic twice commuting to and from work. The third and oldest claim was never assigned fault due to it being my word against the other driver's word. I realize it is all business and that no private company owes me anything, but it still felt horrible enough that makes me never want to do business with progressive ever again if this is how they treat lifelong customers. Here is a summary of my concerns: 1. Insurance reform on the laws surrounding "mandatory" insurance and brand discrimination. Insurance companies should never be allowed to deny coverage based on a vehicle brand or model. Example. I drive a Hyundai which is unfortunately part of a national car theft pandemic. I have called numerous national and local insurance companies for a reduction in the yearly bill. I was refused by every one of them because of the brand I drive. If the law states that everyone must carry auto insurance regardless of age, race, gender, etc. You cannot refuse to insure people based on brand, driving record, zip code or area of the country. 2. Insurance reform on rate determination. Insurance companies should not be based on credit and zip code but should include income as well. Low-income citizens with poor credit are charged higher rates because of credit rating and zip code and not income. Example: I signed up for debt consolidation and my score dropped considerably. I am being charged more for my auto insurance because of the lower credit score. I am also currently charged more for my zip code. I should not be held accountable for poor drivers in my area. I do not fall into that group. 3. Insurance reform based on the herd effect. Companies should never be allowed to charge you based on the surrounding population's driving habits. My rate should be determined solely by my driving habits alone, not the general population. Example: I have been told on multiple occasions that my rate is based on "drivers in my area" causing the rates to be higher where I live. This should not be allowed. 4. Insurance reform based on value. Brand, the driver should not be continually charged a higher rate within a certain period because of the brand. If the value of a vehicle drops excessively because of a national theft pandemic of an Example: My Santa Fe was worth $25K in 2023. It is now worth $15K because of the attempted theft, and national theft pandemic. My auto insurance rate has continued to climb by $50 to $80 every six months. This needs to stop. 5. Insurance reform on ticketing. If a ticket or moving violation drops off a person's driver's license within 24 months. Insurance companies should not be allowed to continually charge a higher rate after the violation drops off the driving record. Example: I got a ticket over a year ago. This ticket has dropped off my driver's license. I am still being charged for the ticket that is no longer on my driving record. 6. Insurance price gouging reform. Due to inflation, COVID19, and other economic and natural disaster events. Caps should be placed on commissions and profits. Insurance companies should not be allowed to price gouge consumers based on the consumers brand of vehicle, changes in the economy, or natural disasters. Example: Because of my brand of vehicle, zip code, area of the state where I live and other natural disasters in the southeast. I've been with Progressive for 7 years no accidents never late. Out of the blue they increased my payments by 30%. When I called the supervisor Rashawn has the audacity to tell me my rates were increased due to an increase in accidents in my area. What kind of backwards AZz thinking is that. I haven't had any accidents but since my neighbors have my had accidents my bill goes up. That sounds incredibly dumb and is completely opposite of what Progressive states in its customer loyalty program. They keep increasing my rate. Insurance scams are wild. They raise your rate based off accidents in your area. So even if you're perfect, they make you pay for other peoples s***. There should be laws that stop insurance companies from doing this. Nice, looks just like in the commercial! Anytime someone has to file a claim because of an accident, it's no fun. The folks at this Progressive service center, attended to us promptly, and took care of all the paperwork. Progressive even sent us money for the devaluation of our new car...WOW, whens the last time you got money from the insurance company after having an accident? The check practically covers the rental costs, so it balances out in a way. My only gripe is that there was only one rental available...a midsize sedan @ $27/day; Which brings me to another point, Im not exactly sure how full coverage didn't include rental coverage WTF??? Needless to say, after this experience, I have added the rental coverage. I guess the only thing for me to do now is wait...on another accident... read more

I've used progressive off and on, they have always been able to take care of me until now it extremely disappointing to know that one they say you'll get your car back from repair fast but almost takes a month after the accident to get it back and then they don't follow up all the way regarding your car and you have to do the following up and when it's finally ready you the only time you have is during the weekend and they don't extended your rental coverage a couple of days because it goes over your 30 day limit give me a brake and then if you have to go to the emergency room to make sure your ok and talk to them about getting it paid they say that you have to take care of that yourself because you don't med pay in my insurance even though I have full coverage, and ask them about getting the deductible back they say it'll take months for it to come back because that's how it done.
