While every individual's experience varies, I have to praise Dr. Panagos and his staff for making my wisdom tooth extraction simple and pain-free. Disclaimer: part of my luck here was that the two teeth I needed extracted were fully erupted and not impacted, so it was a simple extraction (no stitches, no antibiotics, and no pain, just some discomfort).
I've read other reviews that have called Progress Oral Surgery a wisdom tooth factory. While that might seem like a negative, it actually comes with some positives. For one, I felt confident they knew what they were doing (everything was very routine). In addition, their process for new clients is very efficient. A week in advance of my first appointment, they emailed me digital versions of the patient forms to complete online, saving 15-20 minutes at the office itself. When I checked in on the day of my consultation, I just needed to show the copy of my insurance card and drivers license. Ten minutes later, they brought me into a room to take a 180-degree x-ray of my mouth and then into the consultation room. Dr. Panagos came in a few minutes later to discuss the extraction and my options, telling me it would be a very simple process in my case with minimal recovery time. He also gave me the option of being awake or going to sleep for the procedure but said it would take only 15 seconds per tooth, so I opted to stay awake rather than spend time prepping for and recovering from anesthesia. I then scheduled my extraction for a few weeks later.
On the day of my surgery, I had to wait about 30 minutes (the place was packed), but only a few minutes after I was in the room they numbed me up. 15 minutes later Dr. Panagos came in to make sure the lidocaine had worked (it sure did) and begin the extraction. Although I was awake, the process was incredibly fast (he was literally done with both teeth in 2 minutes... not an exaggeration) and I felt absolutely nothing (even the "pressure" people sometimes talk about was hardly anything). His work was fast and he had fantastic bedside manner that really kept me at ease throughout the process. No stitches were needed, so they put some gauze in my mouth, sent me home with self-care instructions and asked me to call if I had any questions or of course any emergencies that might come up.
Recovery was just like Dr. Panagos said, very simple. I didn't even need pain medication, although I took Tylenol before bed the first night to make sure I didn't have any discomfort sleeping. A week later, I was totally back to normal (minus two teeth of course).
Overall, I'd strongly recommend Progressive Oral Surgery for their experience and efficiency, and I'd recommend Dr. Panagos for his service and surgical work. Thanks again to the team there for a great experience! read more
