In one word: FLAKY! From the first time we called Progressive Technology, the sales manager was very unreliable and took several days or even weeks to reply to emails and phone calls. The company I work for purchased a security system elsewhere and only needed a professional installation. The first time that Progressive was scheduled to come give us an installation estimate they never showed up - I had to call several times and the sales manager said that he got caught up with a problem with another client and didn't have time to call and cancel my appointment. The next time we re-scheduled an estimate, the sales manager showed up over 1 hour late, but didn't call to say he was running late - I had to call him to ask where he was. Progressive gave us a reasonable price quote so we finally scheduled a date for the install. On the day that they were supposed to install, we waited and waited.... Progressive NEVER SHOWED UP. Late in the afternoon, we received an email (not a phone call) saying that we need to fill out some authorization form and send a deposit of %50 in order for them to install. This was never mentioned previously. Over a month and a half later (and several phone calls and emails later), Progressive finally showed up to install our system, and then said that because they "rushed" our install job that full payment was due that day. We paid the 50% deposit and expected the balance would be due in 30 days (as is typical for any other company), but they said no, it is due in full immediately. It has been less than a week since the install and the finance dept has harassed me every single day about the balance due when I told them that our accountant only works 2 days a week and that we will pay the balance ASAP. I would not recommend this company unless you think getting the runaround is a fun and worthwhile way to spend your time and money. read more

Phil came out to my business to assess our emergency fire alarms. Two other companies had come out previously and given me a quote for monitoring services, but never caught the things that Phil spotted. In short, Phil was much more knowledgeable about coding/zoning laws and saved me a ton of money by explaining that my building was grandfathered. He explained that I did not need sprinklers or a monitoring system for my particular use. He worked himself out of a job, because honesty is more important to him... and as a business owner, I respect that. If or when I need address some security issue, these guys will be the first company I go back to. read more

Progressive Technology's installation was neat, clean and efficient but what I like most about Progressive Technology is their service after sale. I know they are constantly monitoring my system because they call me if they notice an anomaly and work with me to fix it. Last year while I was in Europe there was a problem with my system. After ten years, a smoke detector had reached its useful life and needed to be replaced. I was able to communicate with them from Portugal to get the problem resolved! I like dealing with a local company that has been around for a long time. I trust them. read more

Phil Came out to give me a quote on a security system for my new Jewelry Appraisal Office. He was on time and thorough. His wealth of knowledge in security for my industry saved me a lot of headache with my insurance company. Everything he told me I would need, is exactly what my insurance company required. He did not try to sell me on anything I did not need and was very professional and honest. His security system installers came out within one week of me signing the contract and installed the security system in one day. This is the biggest bunch of scam artists I've ever met and they're not even good at it. I received crappy service by some installers that OBVIOUSLY had no experience and no business being at my business installing my system. Aside from waiting 2 1/2 months for my install I paid way too much. My thinking was that you get what you pay for and I was wrong about that ***After some research I have discovered that their turnover rate is extraordinary and each of those people fired, because the management sucks, has the code to my system because they use the same code for every installation! boooo read more

From day 1 working with Progressive Technology has been awesome. Phil did a great job inspecting my home and providing options to keep it the most safe. He worked with me on a good plan/cost. Installation was easy. The guys were thorough and very considerate as I was working from home. This was 3 years ago. Since then, I have loved having my alarm. We have had no issues. Any time I have had to get in touch with the Progressive Technology team, they have been very responsive, quick, and so nice. Where do I begin... It was a hassle just to get someone on the phone to set up any sort of appointment and when I finally did the lady was quite rude. The employees that came to install my security system had a severe lack of professionalism and little regard to the safety of themselves or others around them! I was surprised to see the way they worked. Where I work, using power tools without gloves or safety glasses, or standing on the very top of a ladder, would get you fired, but I guess Progressive Technology doesn't teach employees about OSHA standards or safe work practices in general... I had some questions for the install technicians and felt like they were answered rudely and as if I shouldn't even be asking questions so I just stopped. For as much patience as I showed them I received little to none in return. It took them about 4 hours longer than the 2 hours I was told it would take to install my system, after they showed up an hour late. I had to Vacuum a few spots and found wire clippings on the floor in my closet too. The only positive that has come out of this is that my system seems to be working. I hope... Honestly, I was shocked to find that this business is even accredited by the BBB. Not sure how they pulled off an A+ rating but kudos to them. To me the product you buy from a company is important, but what triumphs over all is how you are treated by the company, and my experience in that aspect was very unpleasant. read more

I first contacted Phil, (Owner of Progressive Technology Security Systems) approximately 2 and a half weeks ago. We setup a time for Phil to come by my home to talk about my needs, what type systems Progressive installs and which manufactures he uses. Phil showed up on time and was very professional and quite friendly. Being in contracts myself I generally can see right through the BS right away. Phil however was the real deal. Professional, friendly and very knowledgeable. Phil listened to my unique needs then took a tour of my home. Now I had a good idea of what I wanted done however when the tour was over Phil made some recommendations that were not only spot on but, added more value to the system that protects my family but also saved me money. When Phil left he left me with a bunch of information on the company, references and information on manufactures of systems he installs. I read the company information and was quite impressed but, people can write anything these day. I checked out Progressive on the Better Business Bureaus website to start in which the BBB gave him, (the company) the best rating possible. Well I didn't stop there. I called every one of his references on the list he left me and was shocked at what I heard. This would be from, the city of Escondido, City of Poway and other cities throughout not only San Diego County but businesses in Oregon and Washington as well. Government agencies, municipality's public utilities etc. all pretty much said the same thing. They would fully recommend Progressive Technology Security Systems and the product they install any day. They all said the product was great, installations went smooth and the service/follow up was second to none. Some said they had been working with progressive for over 25 years. I take references very seriously and did not hear one bad thing about the company, (Progressive), Phil himself or his installers/employees. This meant a lot to me. After going through all the info, checking references and manufactures I had a list of questions. I would email Phil at odd times of the day and he would get right back to me. If I waited 20 minutes I would be surprised. I decided on the system I wanted and Phil came back out for me to sign the contract. Once that was complete we scheduled a time for the installation which was at 8:30am. When 8:20am Rolled around I received a call from Phil saying the traffic in Encinitas was jammed and he would be a little late. He showed up at 8:37am with his installer and tools in hand. I had other business to attend to in the house and let them go about the installation once we reviewed where everything was to be placed. All systems were installed in approximately 6 hours. They took their time in educating me on how to work the system and didn't leave until I was comfortable in operating same. They vacuumed every crumb on the floor from the installation. Would I recommend Progressive Technology Security Systems? In a heartbeat. On a scale of 1 to 10 they would get a 10 and I generally don't believe in 10's.
