Highly recommend! Last time I took a TNCC class, my daughter was 8 years old! Now she is a college Freshman. Had to admit I was a little anxious to go through a rigorous process. Always a great experience coming here. ACLS renewal for me is a real burden and it is not very practical to take time out of busy schedule but I always come back here for a course even though I don't stay in Bay Area that much any more. Sunday am/pm course is not exciting. I dragged my yin yang to this place. Cindy Hernandez was the instructor. She seemed little intimidating and strict but she turned out to be a very sweet, warm hearted person with a great sense of humor. Her real life experience make this learning materials to stick better. I actually learned the most from this course and this made me want to learn more. I might sign up for their EKG course. Unfortunately she does not teach that course but I might come back for that. read more

Attempted to complete in Folsom location. Worst experience ever!!!!! Would not recommend this place to anyone. I completed my modules at home, then when I arrived it stated I didn't, so spent additional time completing them again. Then after, the mannequin would not even connect correctly with the computer set up. When phone number called to walk me through it, and having me take apart the mannequin and rebooting computer still didn't work. I'm not some IT tech for you guys!! I am supposed to show up to my appointment and complete my skills, but couldn't because equipment was faulty. Receptionist told me multiple people have had trouble with the mannequins and nothing done. Now stuck with half assignment completed and no certification. 4 hours later waste of my time. read more

I took my initial ACLS. I really loved learning here at PROJECT HEARTBEAT, especially with my HELLA GOOD instructor JUSTIN!!!, he made the class super easy to follow and genuinely fun. Anika Wagner was our instructor and she made it quick and painless to get us tested and outta there!! It was an early 8am class - with one 10ish minute break - with a small class of 7. Quick video's to watch, jot down a few key items that would be on the "test," small mats on the ground to help our knees as we buddied up and practiced CPR on the mannequins and within 2 ish hours, dependent upon how long you take tests for 24 questions, you were done. You are allowed 4 wrong answers on the test - Anika reviews your wrong answers before you leave; however, more than 4 wrong, I believe she reviews them with you and you have to retake the test. Great view of Oakland - being on the 8th floor - and I LOVED how time went by quickly!! I HIGHLY recommend using Project Heartbeat to get BLS certified. P.S. Coffee, tea and water were available with some mints. Bring your own snacks if get hungry. Also, we sit in small desks that have wheels on the bottom. Be careful!! read more

The instructors were reported to be excellent, however, the administration department is an extremely unprofessional business that does not follow up on calls from students. They have your $3000 dollars and failed to execute their end of the contract. If they do not complete their part of the process students cannot move forward and take their test so they can work. My son has been waiting since the first week of September for their department to "approve" him to take the test. He could of been working this entire time and instead is sitting at home frustrated. I have tried to call their home office several times and the operator number sends you to a dial tone. Call the Better Business Bureau if this is also happening to you. read more

By some fair stroke of luck, I was granted the great honor of finding myself under the tutelage of the two fine, young men known by the great names of Brian and Hideki. To be placed within their fine pedigree of talented, phenomenal young medical practitioners was a strenuous task demanding great puissance, character, and discipline - all of the great makings of any refined nobleman. I find this younger generation to be plagued with many penniless pretenders and conniving con artists, but, as one may say, a polished diamond need not be placed among the slovenly mud for one to recognize its beauty; it is the stunning brilliance and resounding excellence of such a treasure that allows it to shine so radiantly. It is the duty and obligation of any fine gentleman to seek to be greater and wiser than they were the day before and that is the lesson of this fine academy as well. I was part of PHB 38 with Brian and Hideki and they were pretty cool guys. I've been through a lot of different teachers and professors and normally I can't even stay focused for the entirety of a 1 hour lecture, but I really enjoyed the 11 hour classes that I took with PHB. The instructors are engaging and have a great sense of humor. You can definitely tell that they enjoy teaching and that it is in their best interest as well as yours to keep the class fun and interesting. Becoming a certified EMT is hard work and being an excellent EMT is even harder. PHB will absolutely prepare you for when the proverbial turd hits the fan out there in the real world. It is NOT a certification factory. The small class size meant personalized attention, and our instructor Jeff, was incredible at breaking down complex skills into easy steps. He encouraged curiosity and was happy to answer questions about how it is in the field. He had so many amazing stories that make the material interesting and give you insight on how it's used in the real world. I've taken a lot of classes in my life and you can tell when the teacher(s) are just going through the motions. Jeff and the other instructors really cared and were passionate about what they were teaching. They all offered support and were willing to give extra help and go the extra mile to help you succeed if you were willing to put in the work/time. What really stood out was their hands on approach. Instead of weeks of lectures followed by a last minute skills marathon, each topic was paired with immediate practice. The class has real world scenarios almost everyday and they were incredible. Kaz, the BLS teacher was outstanding. She was, in my opinion, the greatest of the bls classes I've taken. The class was small and had great and refreshing view of the bay. She kept the class engaged and humorous, patient to answer questions, kind, not hurried, was well organized, amusing, and meticulous. She also provided clear, step by step directions with flawless demontrations, an easy to remember summary that was written in multiple colors on the white board.
