Our last clinical day

This program was the best experience I could've had training to be a CNA! My instructor Mary was diligent and thoughtful. You can tell that Mary and the other staff genuinely care for our success as their students! We did our clinical at Pleasanton Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and the staff/patients were amazing! Very great team of CNAs and the patients are very comfortable with us students. I just took my credential written exam and passed! Currently waiting on the skills results! The program perfectly prepared me for the exam and the in person clinicals. Overall, I would recommend this program to everyone. Thank you Bay Area CNA team & Mary!

I finished my CNA course in a month very satisfactorily. The instructor Mary is the best. I learned so much and already have my exams scheduled for next week. I feel super prepared to pass both. I highly recommend this school.

This school was top notch! I enrolled my daughter in the Saturday/Sunday program and it was incredibly convenient for her schedule. Amazing staff, great learning environment and the opportunity to work in a clinical location. If you're looking for a school to obtain your CNA skills and prep you for the certification tests, look no further. Best of the best!

The school teaches you the proper aspects to what being a CNA is. 4 weeks and you can then take your state tests very easy.

DVC-San Ramon is one of several places to make online appointments for the vaccine in Contra Costa County for ages 16+. LOCATION and PARKING The main admin building is on East Campus, right off Watermill Rd. Follow the traffic circle and signs toward parking for COVID19 vaccines. I wound up parking near the Dougherty Station Library and Acorn Learning Center, which is a short walk to the main entrance. APPOINTMENT LINE They'll line you up outside every 6-feet in groups according to your appointment time that you got from the Contra Costa County Health Services "Mychart" app. Very organized and they had two volunteers/staff members there to give instructions and answer questions. REGISTRATION This is in one of the rooms with over half-dozen stations where they'll ask for you ID and insurance card. One scary thing is that they may ask for SSN and Mother's Maiden Name. Yikes. I would recommend declining to answer. Afterwards, my cousin who's a pharmacist said this info is for folks without insurance. The clinic needs to recover costs by billing the government. But still, SSN is a bit too sensitive. They didn't ask me but I did hear folks at other stations get asked. VACCINES This is done in a separate room, and the nurse I had was great - funny and good at putting you to ease. I got the Pfizer vaccine and the process is quick and painless. All those daily Turkish Getups really beefed up my shoulders, LOL. OBSERVATION The last part of the process is to pick one of the "classrooms" and just hang out for 15 mins before leaving. Each room had a nurse who will wipe down the chairs as folks leave. They also have an oxygen tank just in case. Overall a pretty smooth process and well-run operation. Lines moved quickly. The nice thing is your second vaccine appointment is automatically scheduled for you, although you can use the Mychart app to change if needed. 3-6 weeks needed for Pfizer, while 4-6 weeks out for Moderna.

Don't underestimate the faculty at DVC simply because it's a community college. A lot of the professors here are research experts in their discipline, coming from prestigious universities like UC Berkeley. Some of them realize how important it is to fulfill education within CC students as well. I feel that I've made closer, supportive relationships with DVC professors compared to my professors at UCSB. I highly recommend visiting this campus if you want intrapersonal connections with your peers and mentors as it's a tight knit, small campus compared to the one in Pleasant Hill. Additionally, my tuition for the first two years was reimbursed including a lot of school expenses compensated for through the COVID-19 emergency grant which they no longer do. Going to DVC has saved me so much money, regained my confidence in higher education, and gave me the opportunity to meet great people, find my higher potential, and transfer into one of my dream universities. Even though I spent only 1 quick semester in-person due to COVID, I had an awesome experience. I am truly grateful for the time I had at DVC and now that I graduated with a bachelors I reflect on this. If I ever want to take any class for fun or take prerequisites for grad school, med school, law school etc. I could always come back here! High school students, people who would like to switch careers, this is the place to be!

I honestly said I didn't see the signs, and with an attitude he said there are 10 signs. Where I parked, none of the signs were near me. The nearest sign was about 25-30 yards away. My kids and I also walked to the main gym where they played their games before, and once again I was met by the head of parking. He aggressively told my boys they shouldn't be opening random doors looking for their games. I asked him, did I miss the signs again because this is where they played last time. He said no and said the games were in a different building. I said, to help everyone, signs would be helpful, this way he wouldn't be irritated telling other parents to look for the other gym. We walked over to building 2900 like he told us too, and he yelled at me, my sons and other parents from across the swimming pool, telling us we were using the wrong door. It could have helped if he told us where to go. The door we tried opening was directly under the 2900 sign. I yelled back at him saying we are at building 2900 like he instructed. He replied back we needed to walk around the building. When we finally found the entrance it was 2940. I found this gentleman, very rude and aggressive with his approach. I am not sure if this is how Chabot wants to be represented to people in the community visiting. if any staff member is reading this, the gentleman I am talking about is a large heavy set African American who identifies himself as the head of parking and he drives a gray Infiniti SUV. Even if he is not part of Chabot College, simply being on campus and introducing himself as someone in an authority position makes it seem he works for the college.

I did go to campus for somethings, but compared to my colleagues in those year round enrollment schools with no contact with other cohort members, I know that I got a great deal. I do feel supported and now that I'm no longer in class and working full time I have time to get to some long over due reviews. I do appreciate everything! The teachers were helpful. The help I got through SCAA was also helpful. I loved the library, but wish they were open later. There is a space that's open later but I had an issue with them and stopped going. I do not recommend this place. This place lacks racial diversity within the workplace. Management…read morehas poor leadership skills and there is a high turnover rate. This is why many who attend trainings here, struggle to find support. They also lack total empathy for their community partners. They use the story of Eileen to portray that they do care, but this story is totally played out. To top it off, this place lacks professionalism and is a very hostile environment. If you're foreseen as a threat, or if they do not like you, document! Office manager is very unskilled for her position and tends to micromanage and treat everyone as they are entry level just as she. Let's not forget the bullies in this office. Be aware, don't apply here if you have great interests towards helping others. They only care about their apprenticeship programs, because that is how they profit and continue their lavish styles.

I actually learned…read moreabout ABC through my brother (who learned it through a few other people after graduating school). Me and my brother grew up in the construction trade and were the main maintenance workers for our family business out in Hayward. Our family used to own a nursing home, so at an early age, my father taught me and my brother not only how to use our hands but also how to have a strong work ethic. Before I even start with my experience in ABC I do want to note that the previous review, him listing his many delinquencies, ANY employer with a worker that had so many problems would not keep him employed for long. Anyways I was referred to ABC through my brother and his friend John. Both of them graduated from the carpentry program with flying colors. Like brother like son, I wasnt interested in college much at the time so I decided to give ABC a chance. Even with the economy and the expected long wait list, they were very respectable in keeping me posted when new work was available and I never felt as if I was left in the dark. When I was dispatched they also helped advise me in situations that were very new to me. I worked in Pittsburg for the new courthouse, (VERY BIG PROJECT!) and needless to say I was a little scared. They really helped calm my nerves and helped me push forward. Due to my own personal life (college and career choices) I am no longer working in the construction field. Even still I couldn't thank them more. Also on a funny side note, all the time I was there I assumed they were only an apprenticeship program. Turns out they also have Seminars and Business Growth classes. They even have a Political Affairs group that help with public works and defending community rights. If you do watch local politics, you will see them there trying to do whats best for us.

Our son has had a bad experience here.  He says that he gets a piece of paper to work off of, and…read morethe coaches come by every once in awhile and ask if it is ok, and that is about the extent of the coaching.  He has had problems with parts missing from his project as other students take things out of his bin when they can't find something.  They are usually the high demand parts, so he has a really tough time replacing them.  When he asks the coaches, they tell him to go look for the part, and he spends a good portion of the time looking for parts as they don't provide it for him.   He says when he has a question, several other smaller kids interrupt, and the coach's attention gets scattered, and they don't answer his question ultimately.   So, all in all, he is not able to make much progress week to week.  I was shocked, as the per lesson cost of this program is almost the price of private music or tennis instruction, that he would get so little attention and help.  Something so simple as the low availability of parts is something that could be managed, and there should be enough coaches to answer the kids' questions. I had asked about the competition path last summer and was told our son had to learn the basics for about a year first. When we said we would like to cancel, all of a sudden, this competition "class" was an option. I suspect that this basically operates like a daycare with legos for most, and all the actual coaching gets saved for the few kids in competition.
