All my visits here @Proliance has been great. I have seen a few physicians here for my hand and for my foot who were wonderful. If you are considering hip replacement, look elsewhere (recommendation at bottom). Very disappointed with the quality of care and responsiveness of medical staff including the doctor. It is difficult to get through to anyone in the Proliance practice in Renton/Covington. Long hold times. I've taken to faxing requests to the doc and they are ignored. I was not fully informed of complications from anterior hip replacement. I had a posterior replacement a few years ago and it was a breeze compared to the hell I am experiencing now. Anterior hip replacement is known to cause meralgia parastetica, an extremely painful condition that is caused by damage to the Lateral Femoral Cutaneous Nerve. Had someone informed me of this fact, I'd have chosen the other posterior technique. I was also left with fluid in my lungs (shortness of breath and inability to take more than 20 steps without completely losing my breath. This has now caused Afib and landed me in the ER last week. I was not informed of these complications. I noted these problems in each post-op visit and was either told it was "normal" or the doctor told me "I can't help you with that" and walked out. I have tried calling and wait on hold for 45 minutes before giving up. I've taken to faxing, begging for referrals and no response. My prior hip surgeon was amazing. No complications and driving within 4 days. He moved far north, but in hindsight, I should have made the trek. Why does it take staff 10 days to submit an authorization for surgery to the insurance?? 10 DAYS???!!! Everything is done electronically now and all the information is readily available to them. This should take less than an hour to complete. Yet they make patients who are having severe pain and other serious symptoms wait 10 DAYS before they get around to doing their part. Then the insurance has to approve it and then who knows how long the doctor is out on his surgery schedule? This is unconscionable ! Very poor patient care or understanding. read more

I had spinal surgery in 2016 and it was a total mess. I am in constant pain. MRI reviewed by another neurosurgeon (outside of Proliance) said that there is nothing that can be done to rectify what was done, that another procedure should have been done, and he apologized for what some of his associates do. The MRI looks like a train wreck -- two discs removed and what looks like a some railroad ties connected by nuts and bolts. Total incompetence. I went in needing help with degenerative arthritis of the spine and was told by the operating neurosurgeon that he could "fix it." He didn't tell me that many surgeries like this go bad after a few years because metal is rigid and your spine is not. Problems with hips occurred right after surgery and resulted in loss of ability to use my right hip to walk. I live in daily pain and doctors aren't prescribing pain medication anymore for fear of losing their licenses. Stay away from Proliance. Get second/third opinions from other neurosurgeons on options and long term effects of any proposed spinal surgery --- and only proceed when PT fails. read more

Good doctors and staff but horrible communication! They do not have any sort of online portal system that allows you to message, check appointments and locations. Plus the telephone answering crew is understaffed which results in 15-30 wait times before you can get forwarded to the wanted staff members voice mail. If they'd get a portal I'd probably give them a 4 or 5 star rating. read more

I was referred here by a friend. When I called to set an appointment, the receptionist said that doctor wasn't accepting new patients but another doctor was available for them, so I set the appointment with him. She said they needed copies of tests taken elsewhere. I called that clinic who promised they would be sent the same day. On the day of the appointment, the receptionist was curt and didn't like being asked questions. She said they didn't have the images that they needed and argued with me about how they were sent, stating that they couldn't be sent the same day. When the nurse met with us, she stopped me from explaining why I was there and ordered x-rays which were difficult to do due to my pain. When the doctor met with me, he wanted to know why I was there, stating the x-rays came back showing I was perfectly fine except for being extremely obese. My friend that had driven me there and was in the room told the doctor to back off and backed up my answer to why I was there, how I was referred, etc. The doctor disparaged my doctor's medical profession, stating that it's a quack and to find someone else for treatment. I left feeling very embarrassed. read more

I can't even begin to say how pleased I am with Proliance- I ended up in the emergency room and needing emergency surgery on my spine. Dr. Thompson was "on call" and I was lucky to be assigned to him!. He was extremely caring, knowledgeable, and any other positive describing word!.. After, I had a bit of a complication and needed a second in patient surgery-- he was spectacular!.. every person that I have been in contact with is beyond great-- the PA"s (Jason, Brooke, Sean ) are fantastic -- and dont get me started on Jason's MA-- rockstar to the core!... I have been to Proliance for 3 major injuries. The first was with Dr. Cero for a torn meniscus. Got in fairly quick for ortho surgery for that. Her care was excellent. A short time later I fractured my heel. Dr. Novak was my surgeon for that. Excellent care from Dr. Novak! And recently I saw Chad Swaim, DSC, PAC for a fractured vertebrae, and his care was excellent too, and luckily didn't require surgery, just some rest. I don't know that I would go anywhere else for orthopedic care than Proliance. read more

This place is a joke. They tried to tell me I had my appointment wrong, but the truth was the doctor was late, and she came in joking about how she forgot to set her alarm clock. On my second visit, they forgot to call me and tell me the doctor was sick and I wasted a trip and time off work. I have never been to a more unprofessional office. read more

I saw who was Dr novak wouldnt take the time of day to understand my complaints i was scheduled for surgery from one location saw him and he sagarted saying that i didnt need it even though i do. I started with setting an appointment with Proliance in Mid August. Couldn't get me in until 9-3. Took xrays of my neck and saw nothing. They referred me to another appointment for my spine. That appointment took another 3 weeks. They wanted me to get an MRI. I need an open MRI machine so they had Valley Radiology contact me more than a week later. They no longer have an open MRI machine. I found a company that does have an open MRI (it's CDI in Puyallup) I got in with a week. (10-23-20) I then had a followup with Proliance on 11-4-20 at which time Proliance gave me my diagnosis. I would need a cortisone shot in my left spine area. I contacted Proliance on 11-9 to setup an appointment to get it done. The earliest would be 11-30-20 and that was for a consultation with an MD and not to do the cortisone yest. Meanwhile, I've been in pain since mid July but Proliance has just been one delay after another. So I contacted CDI and they had me in on 11-19-20 for the Cortisone shot. I'm feeling much better already. I can't believe the time and pain I had to live with and how little Proliance cared. I won't be doing anymore business with Proliance. I recommend going to a CDI location. read more

I recommend Dr. Sean Haloman who is an Orthopedic Surgeon with Proliance. He recently performed shoulder replacement surgery for me. The surgery went was successful with my pain well controlled. He and his staff are personable as well as professional. Six months afterwards I have nearly the same range of motion in my shoulder as I did before arthritis affected me. read more

Was referred to Dr. Haloman in July for a torn Bicep tendon. The entire process from the beginning was seamless and very professional. Dr. Haloman did an awesome job on my tendon repair and followed up personally we me to check on my progress. I would not hesitate to go back if I ever need to. Highly recommended. read more

I have gone to Valley Orthopedic doctors for 25 years. I discovered that VO had become Proliance Orthopedic . Recently I was in a roll over motor vehicle accident,no fault of my own. Proliance declined to accept me as a patient because my injuries were from a car accident and I have a lawyer representing me. I was shocked. I see Dr. Barthel, Dr. Thompson and Dr. Chilczuk and let me tell you I have never met a more caring and personable group of physicians.. the staff are welcoming and provide wonderful one on one treatment. This is the only place I would ever go for any orthopedic needs! Dr. Barthel is seeing me for carpal and cubital tunnel issues and has been wonderful in her quality of care and wonderful attitude she truly is a diamond in the rough. Dr. Thompson has seen me for my spinal issues and I tell you I have never met a more knowledgeable and caring physician anywhere! This physician has given me hope for the lack empathy in most of the medical field these days, he is a shining star! And Dr. Chilczuk has treated me with several injections to treat my herniated disc he is very good at making you feel comfortable with a scary procedure... he talks you through everything and makes everything seem so peaceful while he is working wonders! read more

I appreciate the Covington office of Proliance Orthopedic Associates. I am being seen by Dr Chilzuk and have nothing but good to say. His nurse, Heather, is awesome - she listens, follows through and makes you feel like you are the only patient. Dr Chilzuk is superb - taking the time to explain things very clearly, walking me through X-ray and MRI results, explaining his recommendations for treatment. He answers my questions and ensures clarity around next steps. I'm not sure I could find better! read more

I was told I needed.an MRI and my Insurance would cover it, well I went through with it and they told me insurance was billed, what they didn't tell me was that it wasn't 100% covered!!! I got a bill for over $500 in the mail. read more

I had carpel tunnel surgery on my right wrist by Dr. Barthel in August 2017. I followed her advice and did occupational therapy after the surgery for 6 weeks. Now, 5 months later, I have more constant pain than I had before the surgery, they left a part of the stitching in my hand, and when I asked for a prescription or referral to try to get the fascia worked on to fix the issues caused by the surgery, she would not give one. Not only is it worse, I can't get it fixed. read more

When I developed sciatica from an old back injury that flared up I saw Dr. Howe in Covington. They were able to schedule an MRI for me the same day. He reviewed it that day, explained what he found and referred me to Dr. Chilczuk for an injection for my condition. Three days later I was getting an injection in their surgery center in Renton. It took a while to get better, but I did. The staff at every location were great and did everything possible to make my treatment as easy as possible. They really are a team and I would recommend them without reservation. read more

I was very impressed with Covington Proliance Physical Therapy. I had a total hip replacement and decided to do my therapy at Proliance in Covington since that is where I live. They are fantastic! I have had physical therapy in the past for other issues but George and Kathleen were the best physical therapists I have ever had. Very knowledgeable and professional. They really know what they are doing and very good at explaining how to do your exercises at home. read more
