Today, I went to the appointment and they tried to charge me $3,000 for a one hour visit and then lied and told me they told me this amount. WHAT a RIP OFF. Telling me one thing on the phone, and then, arriving to find out it is 6 times higher than the first super expensive price they quoted me. when I complained, the temp told me there was nothing he could do and I asked to speak with Dr. Grivori...he never came out to see me and there was no one else working there to help. I had heard that Gravori was expensive but this was just nuts for one hour. And, if this is his customer service then look out. ALL Grivori cares about is money, money, money. BEWARE!

While some of these treatments temporarily helped me, the pain kept returning until it became unbearable. After watching my friend recover brilliantly from her back surgery performed by Dr. Virella, I bit the bullet and scheduled my own two level lumbar laminectomy last February. I'm beyond thrilled with the results, and wish I had scheduled the surgery sooner! Mina, Dr. Virella's amazing office manager, effortlessly steered me through all the necessary paperwork, helped me prepare for my recovery, and calmly answered zillions of questions. (Sorry Mina!) Dr. Virella and the other staff who were involved with my surgery spent a lot of individual time with me before the surgery, explaining what their roles were, and what exactly was going to happen. They were all so kind and reassuring, I wasn't nervous at all before the procedure. The first few days post surgery were quite painful, but I was stunned that I no longer needed any pain medication at all after just six days--not even Tylenol. I continued to improve daily, and my recuperation really ramped up when I started physical therapy. After 12 weeks of P.T., I felt stable enough to begin riding my horses, and felt strong enough to hike with my three big dogs. It feels so amazing to have my active life back again! I couldn't be more satisfied with this surgery, and owe the success to Dr. Virella. He had herniated and bulging discs…read moreas well as stenosis in some of the foramen all in the vicinity of C6, C7, C8 & T1 Before allowing the orthopedist to hack my husband, we went for a 2nd opinion-he met a lady in Costco who had recent neck surgery and she recommended Dr. Taban literally called him God! It took 3 months to get into see him for consultation but we'll worth the wait! My husband was only 40 at the time and after going over his imaging and history he suggested something much different than what Dr. Grossman at SCOI wanted to do to him! (3 discectomies & fusion) holy crap! Dr. Taban said "absolutely not! You're young and healthy...You'll be back in 10 yrs for more surgery!" His recommendations were clearly what my husband needed and we scheduled his surgery w/Taban-had to wait 3 months for the date (that's how busy he is) but again we'll worth to wait! When Dr. Taban got going on the surgery he found that one of my husband's disks had ruptured, and that definitely explained why he was in so much more pain... So he cleaned up all the fragments as well as the bulges and said, there was plenty of disc remaining. No need to remove them. He also performed a Foraminotomy, and a laminectomy, as well as drilled the holes wider for the nerve roots to flow freely through. My husband was a new man within a week! Dr. Taban is amazing! My husband has been doing wonderful ever since-20 years later. He still has some soreness that he has to deal with and does see a chiropractor sometimes. We learned so much through this, and we're so grateful that we found this Dr. Taban. Do not let anyone touch your spine unless they're a neurosurgeon! Even if they're a "spine specialist" don't waste your time! Go to a neurosurgeon. Highly recommend Dr. Taban! P.S. At his office, in the lobby there's lots of reading material available which consists of hundreds of letters from patients thanking him and I can't remember how many of those letters were from people who were hacked by a different doctor and we're coming to Dr. Taban to fix/clean up their mess!

My appointment took place at the Sherman Oaks office, where I received a warm welcome from Dr. Conwisar and his staff. Everyone was very supportive, and I couldn't have asked for a more positive experience. Not only did they truly listen when I answered their questions, but Dr. Conwisar went through great length to familiarize himself with my case. After examining my shoulder and testing my limited mobility, he offered me a pain-relieving treatment, which I gladly accepted and that finally allowed me to start moving again without feeling constant pain. Before that treatment, he explained to me what he would be doing and how it would work. After the treatment, he requested that I receive physical therapy to help improve my mobility. I will be seeing him again for a follow-up visit next month, and I look forward to it. Thanks to Dr. Conwisar, the pain relief set in within a day or two and the previously ongoing inflammation seems to have finally been eliminated. He was rushing me through the exam like you got a train to catch . After the examination, he looked me straight in the eyes and said "you look healthy to me, you can go back to work". Keep in mind, my hips were tucked under and I was leaning to one side and in obvious pain when he asked me to undress for the exam. Upon reading his report later. There were a number of things that he said he did during the examination, which he did not do! Oh well, at least he got paid. I got sent back to work still in a lot of back pain. When a person is experiencing excruciating pain, or any form of unbearable pain, the last thing they want to go through when they seek medical help is to be treated in a condescending way. We already get that from the people at our worksite. When I was sent to Dr. Barcohana, I was full of anxiety and uncertainty because I had an awful experience with the prior physician. I was under the impression that, when a person is receiving medical help under worker's compensation, every doctor will treat you like your pain means nothing and that you are just "milking the system." My case is nowhere near both. A couple of months after the accident, I really thought I got well. However, managing a class of over ten (10) primary students (ages 4-7) with moderate to severe disabilities; and running it with only 1 assistant for months, is no joke. The non negotiable physical demands of the job eventually took its toll on my body. My condition worsened from doing the physical job of more than 2 adults. I guess people have no idea that special ed teachers don't just teach. We also lift and maneuver students, provide care such as feeding, dressing, diaper changing, handling seizures; and part of our daily job is also running after a child who eloped. Anyway, moving on to my experience with Dr. Barcohana and his team, I felt like bricks were lifted off my shoulders on my first visit. He took time to hear me out. He did not discount my pain. He didn't smirk or roll his eyes. He ordered for an MRI (Finally! I've previously requested for this and was declined by former attending doctor). I remember feeling relief at the end of the visit because I know that this time, I am going to receive the care that I need. In every visit, Dr. Barcohana is very professional in his dealings with me and my husband. In addition, his team mates, Brianna Montgomery and Esther Kishimoto are also exceptional! We are fully aware that they go through many patients in a day but I have never experienced Brianna nor Esther to be impatient. They are very accommodating and they just treat you like a normal human being. Sometimes that little kindness and warmth that we exude to others go a long way. And this is true in my experience with these professionals. While there may be people out there who are "milking the system," there are also people who are in genuine physical pain. That's why there are tests like the MRI and nerve test. At the end of each day, It is important to be kind and compassionate, regardless of the profession we are in; because no matter how much training we have or expertise we have in our respective fields, unless we walk in another person's shoes, we will never know EXACTLY how they are feeling.
