My sweet Simon is the best and Promise 4 Paws made everything so easy! We couldn't be happier with the rescue and with our sweet Simon.

We applied to adopt our puppy Alma (now Laika) and later met her in person at an adoption event. After a home visit we got to keep her and she's an angel!! They provided her vaccinations and spay.

I hate to write this review because I just want the pet's up for adoption to be able to find a home like promise 4 paws claims they want also. Unfortunately that is not the case for this establishment. It seems as though they are only interested in selling to Caucasian homes and not people of color (Hispanic and African American). I contacted them two weeks ago filling a application for a pet I was interested in. I never heard back but they were very active on their Instagram. I've seen they posted the dog I was interested in they said the dog was available to adopt, so I politely direct messaged them asking what the next steps were and that I filled an application out and was very interested, to which I received no reply. I contacted my friend (who is half Caucasian) to direct message them as well to ask about donating to the cause to which they responded within three hours. To this day the dog is still up for adoption and has not found his home. If you are looking to adopt a pet and are a African American or Hispanic based homes this is NOT the place for you. I will be calling whoever I need to to report this establishment because everyone should have equal opportunity to adopt a pet.

My wife and I adopted Tommy 1 week ago today, and we had a great experience with Promise 4 Paws throughout the entire adoption process. We ended up adopting the perfect fit of a dog for us and he has been a wonderful addition to the family. They were thorough and efficient throughout the application process while being very responsive both before and after the adoption. Kevin and Luciana were incredibly helpful in giving us insight and advice on how to get off to a great start building a long-term relationship with our new dog Tommy. We looked at several dogs from different agencies after deciding we were ready to adopt and by far, Promise 4 Paws was the most communicative and helpful right from the start.

We recently adopted two 10 week old Chihuahua/Terrier puppies from Promises 4 Paws. Our experience with dealing with Michelle and Linda was nothing short of outstanding. Linda allowed us to bring our entire family to her home to meet our perspective, future family members. The care that she gave to Lily, the puppies' mother, and her pups was fantastic. The application process was simple and straightforward. Linda's daughter, Michelle, came to our home the following day to perform a home inspection and deliver Harvey and Kailey. All of the puppies' veterinary records and information was supplied, Linda brought food that she had been feeding the puppies that they liked and she also brought two dog beds that the puppies' mom had slept in so that they would have a familiar scent. Harvey and Kailey have integrated beautifully into our family. Based on our experience, I would recommend Promises 4 Paws to anyone looking to adopt a rescue.

I ventured over to PetSmart during an adoption event and immediately fell in love with a black and white 5 month old. Took my hubby and son back a few days later and there was my little kitty but this time she had a roommate! He was just as cute and sweet and we all fell in love. What sealed the deal was the foster mom answering all our questions and taking all the time we needed with her. We adopted them both and couldn't be happier. They are healthy, well socialized and fun! Thank you Ark for our new family members. We love them so much!

They usually have monthly cat yoga events to raise money for to take care and run their chattery. Cat yoga is yoga but you have cats running around while you stretch and relax. This yoga is beginner friendly. You would need to bring your own mat and be dressed and ready. I love our instructor. She's very calm and I like her cat metaphors when we go to into different stretches. It's very simple yoga that any beginner can follow. The cats present at these events are also up for adoption; it helps them adapt more to humans for socialization. Overall, I recommend it if you have the time. It's well worth it if you're a cat person...but you may want to come home with a new addition to your fur family

We thought we found the one at Doggie Bonez. We initially reached out via the website asking for more info on a specific dog. After a day with no response, we filled out an application because we were serious about adopting and called to follow up. Our calls went unanswered and unreturned. A few days later we reached out via social media and finally got a response from a volunteer. However, everything is managed and run through Jackie so the volunteer offered to reach out to her. Several days later Jackie finally texted. We were so excited! She confirmed the dog was still available, offered to get us updated photos and coordinate with the foster family about setting up a time to meet the dog. Days went by with no reply from her. We reached out again with no reply. At this point we decided to cut our losses and move on. We had been trying to get even the most minimal information for nearly two weeks and ultimately we were ghosted. I understand being the point person for an entire rescue organization can be daunting but a simple acknowledgement that she was working on it or it was on her to do list would have gone a long way. Opening our hearts and home to another dog was a big deal for us and part of our journey to heal after loosing our best boy. Our experience with Jackie and Doggie Bonez was an emotional rollercoaster of being hopeful and excited then being let down with silence. The whole experience was traumatic for me and I would caution anyone choosing to engage with this particular rescue. These dogs deserve loving homes so I wouldn't discourage anyone from adopting but it would be remiss if I didn't share our experience. I hope we were the exception and not the rule to how this rescue is run.

A $45 penalty on a $25 licensing fee is excessive, and when I asked if they could offer even a one-time courtesy waiver, they were completely inflexible and uninterested in working with me. They claim they "send reminders," but I told them I never received any reminder notices, and if I had, I would have paid the licensing fee immediately. Their response was basically that it was my problem, not theirs. What's even more frustrating is that it took four years before they left a tag on my door, and then they turned around and charged me $180 in late fees. Instead of notifying residents in a timely way, it feels like they let the penalties build up and then hit you with a huge bill. This department feels more focused on collecting fees than actually helping residents stay compliant. I understand rules and licensing requirements, but there should be reasonable communication and some basic courtesy -- especially when someone is willing to pay. I am not sure how anyone with fix income can afford these type of penalties. And I am surprise why no one has attempted to stop this SCAM

Verifying a company's 501c status is pretty straightforward since it's all public record. We looked up AWFA via both the California DOJ website (you can look them up by name or by their EIN 202331353) and the IRS's tool for nonprofits. AWFA's status with California had been revoked since 2016, due to multiple violations against the Supervision of Trustees and Fundraisers for Charitable Purposes Act and therefore they're not allowed to conduct any activity or solicit charitable assets in California. The IRS page shows that AWFA's status was revoked federally on 5/15/2021. We fostered with this "rescue" once and that was enough. The dog we fostered was injured, traumatized, and arrived with no supplies. When we expressed concerns and ultimately decided to get legal advice out of concern for the dog's safety. We stayed in contact with the rescue and requested they not contact us until after we had sought legal advice. The rescue's operator showed up at our door several hours later with local law enforcement who said they had documents establishing ownership, but which they refused to furnish for our review or verification. When one officer suggested we could "do this the easy way or..." we unfortunately relinquished possession of the dog. The dog became terrified upon seeing the rescue owner, to the extent that she lost bowel control and shook uncontrollably. This rescue is a giant red flag. Do not facilitate the harm they inflict, they should rightfully be shut down. This review is real. I am real. I did obscure my identity given this organization's history of weaponizing law enforcement.
