Wing is gifted beyond words. My son had tendonitis in his knees for 9 months and Wing was able to help solve the problem in a few sessions. She is a brilliant PT practitioner who considers the whole body in attempting address the problem. Her thorough and compassionate approach is the key to her singular success. I plan to write this review two fold. Yesterday was my first day going to physical therapy for my knees. I plan to write a review at the end of my sessions to see whether they were consistent with their services. First thing to note is that they are closed Wednesdays and Sundays (suite 205) ...Mondays they close around 3:30 and the last appointment on Tuesday and Thursday is 5:30/6:00p. This poses a problem for me since I have extremely busy says which I would assume presents the same problem for those who work full time and are not nearby to reach this location quickly. 24 HOUR CANCELATION POLICY OR YOU WILL BE CHARGED 20 DOLLARS. FOR ANY REASON. I sure hope in real emergencies they don't honor this policy but I can understand it's implementation. The physical therapist was extremely welcoming, friendly, and explained everything. She did not make me feel guilty for waiting so long to attend PT making my knees a chronic issue. She explained the importance but understood my scheduling difficulties especially when it came to making my appointments. The treatment on my knees felt amazing. She was not pushy nor did she push my past my limitations. She introduced exercises some I knew some I didn't. I am glad I chose this location for my physical therapy thus far. The secretary (I apologize in advance for any mischaracterization of this position) is nice. He dealt with me while I went through my crazy schedule and booked my appointments for a month and wrote all the dates and times down for me just in case it wasn't recorded properly in my calendar. SOHO, TRIBECA, CHINATOWN, LITTLE ITALY (Canal + Broadway) PHYSICAL THERAPIST. Wonderful, informative and most importantly HEALING PT! I went to Wing (female) for help with searing pain in my hip. She accessed my condition accurately, but also knew how to work with and around trigger points from pre-existing conditions of Fibromyalgia and Arthritis. I found her extremely knowledgeable and caring. Wing helped me to get better with her patience and expertise. I'd never heard of her before researching the net to find someone near my SoHo home. Over the years I've gone to other PTs in the area. Before going to ProMobility I checked out another PT further north on B'way recently. This woman was very negative in her outlook on life and tried to convince me to do another treatment not paid for by my insurance network or prescribed by my surgeon. This was before she'd even looked at my doctor's Rx or my body. Why would anyone want to go to a practitioner that was pessimistic I thought. I'm so glad I researched further and found Wing Wong-Tom. Don't let her non-English name and the neighborhood dissuade you from getting excellent care. The office is only a block from Canal is easy to get to. Wing is NYU trained and a natural in her chosen field. I am sure her reputation and practice will grow quickly. She is serious about what she does but equally charming. I witnessed her working with a 2nd grader, and perhaps because she's also a parent of small children, she was superb with him. This kid was a little bit of a handful too. She had a lot of cute ways of engaging him so that he had "favorite" exercises she'd taught him to do. If you want to go to a fancy SoHo therapy practice that may not accept your insurance don't come here. If you want to get better I cannot recommend ProMobility Physical Therapy more highly. 2/19/11 read more

Wing is an amazing physical therapist. I was diagnosed with De Quervain Tendonitis in July 2014, then received a cortisone shot in September 2014 from a hand specialist which only lasted 2 months, and have been suffering from the pain and inability to utilize my right hand properly until I went to Wing in late August 2015. After basically 2 months of PT with 11 sessions (with some breaks in between), I have almost full use of my right hand! My range of motion has greatly improved, and it no longer hinders my everyday activities. Wing was very attentive, communicative, and supportive throughout the process. She purposely talked with me during the sessions, while she was massaging my hand, to distract me from the pain. The PT was a combination of massage and introduction of exercises during PT and outside of PT. The duration of each session varied depending on what was required that day and on the progress of my hand. I had to take extended breaks in between sessions at times, and she was quite cognizant of that fact and was able to accommodate. Quick fact: they only take cash or check, but definitely should not influence your decision. read more

My doctor recommended ProMobility to me last year to address a back injury that did not heal properly. I visited both Wing and Melissa on different occasions. Both were attentive to my complaints and took their time to understand my injury and evaluate the best way to handle it. After a couple months I ran out of visits (per my insurance) and bid my farewell. Seven months later the injury reoccured. My doctor (a new doctor) directed me to another PT. They were awful; less than two visits and I turned around and came back here to see Wing exclusively. She evaluated my condition until she could specifically identify the cause of my pain and then embarked on her plan of action. Each visit she reevaluates my condition - how its feeling, changed, improved/worsened, etc - and adapts her treatment accordingly. We have tried a number of different exercises and stretches, each time adding or removing them from my treatment plan according to their impact. She has even offered me advice regarding other injuries that are not the purpose of my visit. The office is small and intimate, exactly the type of atmosphere you want when you are in pain. I always receive personal and focused attention from Wing; she never cuts me short and always cares about how I am feeling. It is clear she loves her career and really cares about her patients. I would highly recommend ProMobility to anyone who needs personalized PT care. read more

This was my first experience with physical therapy, and I will never need to go anywhere else! Wing is incredibly knowledgeable and lets me know exactly what we are doing in order to help me heal. This way, I can also work on my own to recover fully. The office is comfortable and has all of the latest equipment, and I always feel that I am receiving as much personal attention as I need. Dr. Wing is such a pleasant doctor. Walking into her office is like walking into a home with a nice host. Also, she employed such wonderful staffers, Willy and Sara. I'm happy to recommend Dr. Wing to anyone needed proper treatments from a physical therapist. If you don't need her, bring someone you know and they'll tell you *:) I have a few more treatments to go but already feeling good about my foot. She treated my right foot and introduced me with some exercise that I could do at home. I'm glad to be referred to her. Awww I love it here. I come once a week, and although I'm not yet completely pain free, I definitely feel better, not just in terms of my chronic back pain, but also because I know that Wing really cares about her patients and will help me work on my back until it does feel better. After the initial evaluation, she still continues to evaluate my condition each time, assessing my level of pain, as well as mobility. She spends a good twenty to thirty minutes each visit with me one on one, massaging my back and using ultrasound therapy. During this time we always talk, and I'm always suprised how much she remembers about whatever I'd been blabbering about each week. I even speak to her about my dating life now. Actually all of the staff at Promobility are so sweet. Willis and Sara are all incredibly kind as well and they're so easy to talk to. And although I'm an incredibly horrible person with my schedule, and always lose track of stuff, they're always so kind when I have to reschedule, and seem genuinely interested and concerned about my schedule on nights. Oops, but I digress. After the massage and ultrasound, Wing also spends each visit going over the stretches and exercises I have to do. I'm actually generally atrocious at doing much of anything daily, never mind exercises, but I'm really trying this time, and she recently consolidated all my exercises onto one sheet so that I could follow them well (after I admitted that I had kind of slacked off). Furthermore, when I mentioned that my back felt worse recently, she really spend time massaging it and working out the tightness in my back, and assessing why it had gotten worse. I've gotten many a massage in my life, so my tolerance for pressure if pretty high and sometimes I don't feel anything anymore, and when I finally broke out of my awkwardness for making any criticism and mentioned it to her this time, it felt really great. I truly enjoy each visit here. Wing and all the other staff here are so dedicated to helping you feel better, and I truly appreciate all they've done for me (and my back). read more

Wing is very knowledgeable and extremely nice. She gradually introduced me to new exercises and always asked about my pain level. This enabled her to adjust the types of exercises I was doing at home. If I forgot how to do an exercise, she would show me. I have to keep up with my program at home, but my pain level went from a 10 to a 2 by the time my round of therapy was completed. I credit that to Wing and my foot doctor. They both took the time to understand my condition and customized the treatment plan to match. Willis, the receptionist, is friendly and helpful too. I just completed only my 2nd session but will update this review at the end of treatment. Was very pleased with Wing's level of service, professionalism, and friendliness. She was diligent about asking the right questions clueing me in to my treatment plan. her physical manipulations of my hurt shoulder were instantly helpful without causing me too much pain. The exercises she's taught me seem to be the right oens I need to get on track...we will see how recovery goes in next few weeks all in all, as an athlete who has suffered first major surgery and subsequent recovery, I am very pleased I chose this practice for PT. Thus far, of course... but hopefully they will continue to impress. read more

What an unbelievably unhelpful and rude bunch of people. They spent days not getting back to me only to tell me that they were denying me service because of no-fault insurance, in spite of the fact that I told them numerous times that I would be using my insurance, not the no-fault insurance. Over the past 10+ years, Wing has helped me heal from a bout of sciatica, two sports-related shoulder injuries, and a torn calve muscle. She remains my exclusive PT and I've recommend her to many of my friends. Wing always takes the time to explain the injury and the therapies she uses. She is a gifted communicator and a great listener. She asks all the right questions to get to the core of the problem. Every time I see Wing, I heal quickly and usually according to the plan she lays out from the start. Wing Wong-Tom is an exceptionally talented PT, who can solve problems that other body-work professionals and doctors can not; I am living proof. In Oct. of 2017, shortly before turning 50, I began having a little shoulder discomfort, which I assumed would resolve itself and disappear like so many other minor aches and pains. Unfortunately, this issue, later diagnosed by an orthopedic surgeon as "Adhesive Capsulitis" (Frozen Shoulder) did NOT go away, and little by little it actually got worse. What began as a little discomfort when lifting something heavy overhead, devolved over 4-5 months into a state where I could not take off a tight jacket without help from a friend. Not being inclined towards western medical science, I first visited my acupuncturist (4-5 times), and saw a well-recommended PT (4-5 times). When these highly capable professionals did not bring relief, I visited a chiropractor friend of mine, and ultimately even an orthopedic surgeon, who did some X-rays and injected a steroid /cortisone into the back of my shoulder. Instead of long-term help, this only made my limited range of motion more of a sharp limit rather than a tender one which hurt more when pressed further. It was at this point that I had the good fortune of two sessions with Wing during a visit to NYC. It was with great pleasure and surprise that after seeing Wing, I finally began to improve! The combination of her therapy and the exercises that she provided have finally turned my shoulder from declining to improving, and I'm so grateful to have had her care. read more

Wing is a wonderful physical therapist. I broke my ankle playing hockey and set a goal (no pun intended) to be skating in 2 months. I diligently followed her strengthening exercises and 8 weeks later was back on the ice. Four weeks after that I was able to play again, which I credit in large part to her help. Highly recommend. i have been to promobility on two separate occasions: the first a couple of years ago for a torn meniscus, and most recently for a pinched nerve in my neck that was causing neuropathy in my hand. wing and her staff are incredibly kind, friendly, and helpful, but more to the point, skilled. in the first case wing was able to help me avoid surgery; my knee was pain-free within six weeks and remains healthy two years later. compare that to the six+ months it took to recover from the (unavoidable) surgery i had on my right knee and do the arithmetic. i just finished a month-long course of sessions with wing to treat a pinched nerve in my neck. i came in with my hand tingling, weak, and lacking coordination. i left my last session last friday fully recovered, no tingling, numbness, or weakness, and in complete control of my hand and fingers. wing takes interest in her patients as a whole person. she treats the person, not the symptom. she takes a no-nonsense, common-sense approach and encourages her patients to take better care of themselves in general. she is personable and approachable and clearly loves what she does. i cannot recommend wing and the staff at promobility highly enough. i suppose it's fair to say i hope i never have to go back, but the next time i need physical therapy, there's no question as to where i will go. read more

Wing is the best! I'd been having some trouble with my ankle and hip, and am so glad I went to her. Our sessions were extremely helpful, and she gave me useful exercises to do on my own as well. Not only is she good at identifying and digging into physical problems, but she's very comforting and fun to talk to, so I actually looked forward to our sessions! Update: Dr. Sam is no longer with the practice. I've been seeing Dr. Wing and she's been wonderful. I'm doing more exercises and strengthening. She's very thorough and professional. She offers adjustments to ensure I am using my body correctly and gives helpful feedback. For the last 15 years, I've lived with chronic pain in my right knee due to my IT band. I did physical therapy about 8 years ago and I intermittently work out. In April, I started an exercise program with high impact moves like squats, lunges and jumping. I did it 5-days a week for 10 weeks. By June my right knee was throbbing after light exercise like walking and then the pain became worse with my knee aching every night. I started physical therapy in October with Mr. Sanhua "Sam" Leng at ProMobility. Sam's approach was very different from the previous therapy I had for my knee. He concentrated on using acupressure massage and ultrasound to alleviate pain and we did a lot of stretching. As my knee pain improved, we added exercises. My other therapy from 8 years ago was mostly exercises. About 6 weeks into going twice a week for therapy, I tried trigger point acupuncture. My knee pain was slowly lessening but I didn't consistently stretch at home; I wanted to supplement the twice-a-week therapy with the acupuncture. While the procedure is at times painful (as I was warned), it is bearable. Sam inserted the acupuncture needles into trigger points, which felt like a ripple when he hits the trigger. For me, the ripple sensation moved from the epicenter to the full length of my leg. I was left with small circular bruises where the needles were inserted. When I returned 2 days later for therapy, my knee and leg did not hurt. Usually, my knee and leg would be tender to touch and I'd jump from pain during the acupressure massage. I believe the trigger point acupuncture speeded my recovery. I will continue twice a week therapy until December since my insurance will cover for the rest of the calendar year. The office is small and the staff is attentive. I bring my young child one of the days I go to therapy. Sam is very patient when I have to stop the session to address my child's needs. I recommend ProMobility for the personalized care for my injury. read more

After a workout consisting of "constantly varied, high-intensity, functional movement", I found myself with extreme lower back pain and a searing hot line running up and down the entire length of my left leg. After unsuccessfully trying to work through this agony for about a week in the hopes it would get better on its own, my physician recommended that I see Wing at ProMobility. Having never had the need for physical therapy before, I'm extremely grateful that my first experience was with Wing. She and her staff are professional, friendly and accommodating and the office environment is clean, inviting and very conveniently located. Wing's level of knowledge and ability to answer my many questions was incredibly helpful and reassuring during the many months that I worked with her. She used a variety of techniques, provided exercises to perform on my own, and taught me various cues to not only help me get better but to help lower the chances of this happening again in the future. While I hope to never experience the special kind of pain that a herniated disc and sciatica can provide, I know if I'm ever in a similar situation I have someone I can go to for help. read more

After suffering from a herniated disc in my lower back, I saw a number of different practitioners. My pain was severe and my mobility was severely limited. Only at Promobility did I begin to see real progress. Wing at Promobility worked tirelessly and thoughtfully so that I'm now back to training for triathlon. She also has an incredible knowledge base with impressive understanding of latest studies that allowed me to gain tremendous trust in her. She blends all of this with a warm and cheerful personality. I'm still getting thanks from a colleague I sent to Wing for a painful shoulder injury, so I'm definitely not alone in my opinion. Note - The chiropractors and other "specialists" I saw at other practices in Manhattan and Brooklyn turned out to be a waste of time and money, and likely set back my recovery. I will not go anywhere else for PT as long as I live in NYC unless I am forced to for insurance reasons. Wing is thorough, knowledgeable, and a good listener. She worked with me last year on the successful rehab of a SI joint problem. I am now working with her on an unrelated Achilles problem. She works with people from all walks of life --and knows a lot about fitness which is helpful if you're an athlete and your goal is to get back to your previous level of fitness. Her approach to rehab is: patience, consistency, and no gimmicks. You must be a partner in your rehab which means do the exercises at home and keep track of/tell her what makes your injury feel better or worse so she can adjust your regimen.
