Poor communication, no way to contact instructor, if you want to contact propel it's only by messaging and takes more than 2 days. We booked our first lesson after pandemic for my daughters on that snow storm day, Vancouver traffic was a mass, the road to that Port Coquitlam pool was unreachable, there's a narrow curvy and very steep road leading to that pool, and cars and trucks are sliding down hill. Propel must known that since it's their location, but there was NO way to contact Propel or the instructor throughout the day. When they finally get back to me many days later they said they're just a platform, so they don't care about anything, students and instructor safety are not their concern, as long as they're getting their share of the fee. I signed up my young son to do swim lesson with Propel and just after one class, my son is already loving it and I can already tell it will be well worth it. Having to have my son enrolled in community group swim lesson before, we tried twice, the progress just was not there. The instructor has too big of a group to attend to and it was difficult for young kids to truly learn/progress in their swim. Even before the lesson started, the email communication received with all the instruction and direction was very well written. The instructor was prompt to start the lesson and was very attentive to the needs of those who are learning. (I showed up early with my son so I was observing the person prior to my son's lesson). My son is already asking when he will go back to swim lesson again, now thAt is truly a positive sign that my son enjoyed it n wants to be back! We are signing up for more lessons! read more

I signed up my three children (8, 6, 3 years old) over spring break for swimming lessons, and they were all at the beginner level with skills learned from previous lessons through the community centre. I booked lessons by email through Kiel. The process was efficient and easy. I believe you can also book using their web site however, we did not use their online booking system. Our instructor Amie was professional and she communicated well with our children. She was able to get all of our three kids to learn new skills over 6 sessions, and all of our kids had a very positive experience. Amie knew how to teach the necessary pre-requisite swim skills, build on each of those skills, and then progressively add on new skills. Relative to a public swimming pool, the River Rock pool is great facility. The water is warm. The depth ranges from 3.0 to 5.0 ft so it's not intimidating for new swimmers. However, the pool deck is not cleaned regularly as I saw the same used bandages on the pool deck over the two weeks we were there. There were some slimy areas on the pool deck that really should not be there considering this is a high end resort. The bathrooms near the pool did not get cleaned regularly. The toilets are a bit nasty. The upstairs changing area are fine. Parking is one issue that may deter customers taking swim classes here. The free parking is too far from the pool, and the closer parkade costs $2.50 each time we went for our lesson. Overall, Propel is a great school with a great instructor and located in a beginner friendly pool. read more

I'm in my mid-40s and have always been afraid of water. This year, I decided to tackle that fear. I found Propel online and set up private lessons with Kyle. In two short lessons, I can now float and get back on my feet in fine form, sit on the floor of the pool, put my head under water without holding my breath, and even swim a short distance!!! I just got back from Mexico and I owe Kyle a big 'thank you' for making this vacation my most enjoyable yet. I was in the pool and ocean without any fear. I more than recommend Propel Swim School to people of all ages. Kyle's ability to teach me all of the above in only two lessons speaks volumes of what this school offers. I am so grateful. read more

We've been taking private lessons with Kiel for a few months now and today I saw really big improvements with our oldest son. All of a sudden he was jumping in the water independently, putting his goggles on by himself, going underwater, kicking, doing all the tricks. Our oldest son learns differently and we kept seeing Kiel because the lessons were fun as a family but today I saw the connection he has with our son and all the things he's learned. I was so proud and happy. Kiel is patient, consistent and knowledgeable. I feel lucky that we found him, my oldest son is doing amazing and it was a cool moment seeing how much he's learned. read more

I signed up my 2 boys for private lessons with Rebecca at the River Rock Hotel pool. We've had 3 lessons so far...I can't believe we didn't know about this before!! Rebecca is very patient and calm and I highly recommend her!! The pool complex is quite nice too and has a great slide! It may be too small however, as the boys become stronger swimmers and need to swim longer distances. My only other hesitation is that this complex is a bit too far from home, so we will try out some of the other locations closer to home for more lessons!! read more

I've had 2 lessons with Vladimir. He was an excellent teacher for my daughter. I can see much improvement just after 1 lesson and she swam with a lot more confidence. Our goal was to improve my daughter's swim so that she can join a swim club. After our lessons with Vladimir, my daughter successfully tried out for swim club and got accepted. Credit must be given to Vladimir for his persistence, approach and patience - exactly what my daughter needed. Thank you Propel and Vladimir! read more
