Wolf Park is a wolf sanctuary where people are educated about wolves and taught to be respectful of these magnificent creatures. You can go out in groups to explore the land and you might get lucky enough to actually see a wolf in the wild. There are lots of fun things to buy in the gift shop. Loved my experience here! It's a nice easy walk with a tour guide, and very informative. We were lucky and had a small group so it was a very personal experience but we saw lots of wolves, Buffalo and a few foxes. It was cold when we went so that makes sense why the wolves were out. If your looking for a little outside adventure I definitely recommend checking this place out. Check out the website because they have different options for tickets, we just did a general admission, but I think I will come back and try the howl at night. read more

it was a quiet place just wish we would have seen a wolfe. we got to "walk briskly" by one in a cage but our tour guide said to not look or linger because it made this one nervous because she was sick. That was the only Wolfe we seen during the $18 dollar tour. we did see a fox and bison but my daughter really wanted to see a Wolfe because she had done a report on them and that is why we came. read more

They are super knowledgeable about the animals and programs, and they are welcoming and friendly. Only $5 for adults and I highly recommend for an additional $5 to do the walking tour. read more

We came here on the weekend for a special event, The Turkey Toss! This is the Wolf's Thanksgiving feast, okay at least the Wolf's chance to have turkey like the rest of us on Thanksgiving. I was lucky enough to learn about this place and experience it with my dearest friend and two of her children. Seeing it through there eyes made it even more special! We first gathered at the bleachers where we were introduced to three of the wolves and learned about wolves, packs, and characteristics. It was amazing to see these beautiful animals interact with their staff. And then it began. They asked for volunteers and then the turkey tossing began. They had half raw turkeys (and gloves) and you had your change to toss that turkey over the fence for the wolves to enjoy! It was a fun experience and the wolves enjoyed it too! We toured the rest of the facility and fed all of the wolves there Thanksgiving. We also got to visit a hear of thirteen bison, and their were baby buffalo! They are amazing up close and HUGE! They were not left out of the feast and were provided with surprise treats! Cardboard boxes with leafing greens inside. They poked around the boxes, smooshing them with their noses until finding the top of the box and smashing it open until they found their treats! A baby came over the to the box and was using it to scratch his head. last but not least were the foxes, they were absolutely beautiful! They also had a feast, more like ours, meat and veggies on a plate. Wolf park is an amazing place dedicated to the chance to learn about these amazing animals and allow us to get up close and personal with them (at least through a couple fences). Don't expect a glamorous fun park, this is a honest to goodness environment in nature dedicate to learning about and teaching us about the animals there. I am glad that I had the chance to go there for this special event. read more

Well I took my three kids in July 2025. We bought the tour so about $75 for the four of us. We showed up 30 minutes early to explore. Normal admission is $5, but honestly that doesn't really include anything you can only see two enclosures one with one red fox (or so the sign said the fox was hiding) and one enclosure with two gray foxes. Thats it. The tour is given by an intern and if you go in July at 1pm be aware it will be ridiculously HOT, the wolves will mostly not be out, and there is little to no shade the entire walk (I think they said 1 mile). My kids were not amused and complained a lot . It might be much more enjoyable in better weather, but in bad weather (especially hot weather) not a great experience. Also not the best for kids, the content is a bit dry and there is nothing interactive, and being a sanctuary it's very up in the air whether you'll see animals or not. I'd skip this with kids. read more

They give guided tours and do an amazing job of explaining the breeds of wolves here, all gray. We watched them interact with the wolves. A very enjoyable morning! They also have different species of fox. It was definitely worth the $20 entrance fee. read more

Checked the website hours and drove almost 2 hours to the park. Sign by closed gate gave same hours as website. However, after walking to visitors center the Sign on the door stated they are closed Tuesday and Wednesday. Time for them to update website and yelp pages. read more

Took my sister here in June 2019 as wolves are her favorite animal. We got to see the wolves eat, and we saw the baby foxes that were being raise! Flash forward to 2020 and we decide to go again. There was no eating this time around but we were treated to some howling before we left! It's so nice to get to see the wolves so close in person! The wolves are clearly very happy and cared for. The staff is very knowledgeable! And the wolves are social. I was worried we wouldn't get to see them but they love when the humans walk by and come very close to the fence. We learned a lot of facts about the wolves and left with many cute souvenirs. We will be back next year! read more

Wow - I never knew Indiana had its very own wolf sanctuary until a friend asked me to join her for Howl Night at Wolf Park! We had a great experience, from touring the ground's enclosures in the beginning to sitting down for a wolf program - with scattered howls of excitement from our wolf friends! Wolves have always been fascinating to me, but this program/Q&A was great to understand more about their pack relationships and body language. The second part of the program was my favorite because the animal curators went into the enclosure to interact with the wolves and we were able to howl right alongside the pack! An hour's drive and a $12 ticket weren't bad for such an informative experience, and I even bought a wolf photo from the gift shop to remember the wolves we saw. I highly recommend Wolf Park to anyone looking for a fun night of howling and learning about the Wolf Park packs and its mission. Great memories for a great cause! read more

Wolf Park was one of my favorite places to visit whenever I had the time, and I'm glad I got to go back there recently. If you're finding out about the Wolf Park here on Yelp, it's an educational and research reserve ran by a not-for-profit organization, though donations and purchases from their gift shop are always appreciated. Contrary to its name, it's not solely dedicated to wolves . During the last few years, I've also seen hybrids, foxes, coyotes, and a regular herd of bison. Apparently, they use to have an event of letting the wolves chase the defending bison around, but that ended when the bison started reaaalllyy looking forward to chasing and bullying the wolves instead. Our tour guide specifically recalled how during the last time they ever held this event, the bison crowded around the entrance where they usually let the wolves in while said predators hid behind the legs of their handlers. (To be clear, the wolves' diet is actually made of frozen roadkill. Battleground and Lafayette are in a literal crossroads of a number of federal and state highways. If you've ever wondered what happens to all that roadkill, Wolf Park and its omnivorous and scavengers wolves are what happened.) The location itself is beautiful. It's all about studying the ecosystem and animal behavior, so they work hard to keep the enclosures as natural as possible. So it's mostly a lot of open grassy space bordered by wire fences and dotted with basic structures and bits of woodland. In the winter, all this space is covered in a layer of snow and very sparkly. The exception would be the fox enclosures which are smaller are consist entirely of man-made structures for them to climb, slink, and hide around. Each of the wolves/coyotes/hybrids tend to have their own private enclosure (singularly or in pairs) which they are rotated through. This includes putting them together sometimes in the central enclosure which is basically a beautiful, giant, man-made lake that filters back into natural creeks and freezes over into a giant mirror for the wolves to walk over during the depths of winter. One of my favorite parts of the Wolf Park is that it's part of a national (or international) network of experts and environmentalists. I've enjoyed listening to many experts and guest speakers, unfortunately missing this one Wolf Park dinner where a bunch of them were scheduled to speak because of a family emergency. Mostly, because each one seemed to bring an emphasis of something different to the table. More importantly, you'll sometimes get guest WOLVES. During my one of my earlier years at Purdue, I got really excited when the Wolf Park was hosting white wolves for a few of the (winter) months. They are largely educational and have a lot of activities, but it's not a great place for small children unless your children are really into wolves or nature. From what I understand though, the foxes are mini-celebrities and a favorite for the small humans. Otherwise, I've seen a good handful of kids get a bit bored unless there's an additional activity. The road you turn onto from Harrison Road is rough and a bit narrow, only big enough for two cars to carefully pass each other, so be aware of that. Luckily, that opens and they have a good-sized parking lot. You do have to pay a bit to get past the gift shop/entrance and students get a discount, so bring your ID (even when you've already graduated). Afterwards though, you can stay for a good while. Seriously, you can walk around yourself. And if you're lucky, you can see the feedings. My first time there, my dad and I followed the truck with the roadkill around as they stopped at each enclosure to throw carcasses into. As for bathrooms, once you pass through and exit on the other side, there is another building off to the right where they have bathrooms. Wolf Park is important in that it teaches people about the actual animals and help surrounding farms deal with wolves or coyotes, even helping with their removal at times from the farmland and into Wolf Park or other such reserves. During college, I made friends who ARE Indiana natives with a farming background that don't agree with what the Wolf Park does (What if the wolves escape? What if they attack children? They're pests, what's the point?). Guides at Wolf Park will explain the ways they're important to the local ecosystem, and even how they benefit farms. For example, a farmer had apparently called in, concerned about a coyote wandering his property and especially about his animals. The advice given is to leave the coyote alone unless it starts to eating his animals, as it not going after them meant it was subsisting on rodents and pests. More importantly, it being their meant that it had made the area it's territory and kept away other coyotes that might not be so useful. Overall, I love it, and if you're interested, I would strongly advise to check out their website and look up what events they're holding soon and how to contribute. read more

What a wonderful place! We went for a howl night and it was a blast. The staff was beyond knowledgeable about the species and wolves were very beautiful. They also have foxes there and both wolves and foxes can be sponsored so you get a lot of benefits and fun! Worth driving one hour from Indianapolis and definitely worth $8. Great for families with kids (as long as they don't talk through the presentation...) Parking wasn't an issue either. There also a nice gift shop at the sanctuary. I visited Wolf Park with my grandma on a Monday afternoon. We were able to enjoy the fox and turtle enclosures, and Wolf Park lookout accessible with $5 general admission in near privacy. We were thrilled to see the foxes being well taken care of, and had fun finding them in the different hideouts within the enclosures. The best part? The staff, 100%. They went above and beyond to ensure my grandma, who uses a walker, was comfortable, and they shared educational information about all the animals with us. We were able to watch the trainers engaging with the foxes in their enclosures, even if the foxes were a bit lazy with their heavy winter coats on this exceptionally warm day. I will be back for a specialty tour (which I recommend booking in advance) - to see more of the park, specifically the bison! read more

What a fun afternoon! A trip to see the wolf park is really something that anyone would enjoy. Be warned that it's a dirt path around the enclosures and it's clear that it gets very muddy after rain. The guide was knowledgeable and entertaining and clearly loved his job. Some of the wolves came up to the chain fence to see the people, which was awesome! What elegant animals! The foxes were super cute (probably not so much close up though, they are, after all, predators) and it was just wonderful to be that close to them. The gift shop has some great gifts for the old and young alike. read more

I have never visited anyplace like Wolf Park. We first discovered it in 2002 when we went for Howl Night. It was a lovely April evening and after a brief talk by the founder, Dr. Klinghammer, we listened to the wolves howl as a full moon came up. It was magical. We adopted a wolf and visited for the 30th anniversary of the park. Actually, our original wolf died and we had been assigned a replacement. When people found out that we had 'lost' our wolf, they expressed sincere condolences. Uh, it's not like our DOG died... Fast forward to 2009. I surprised my husband with a wolf for his birthday. He was assigned Wolfgang. Laugh, laugh, laugh. So... I forgot how into the wolves the wolf people were until I received 19 PAGES on Wolfgang's short four years. Seriously, 19 pages. Actually, they are funny, sweet and obviously written with humor and love. But... 19 pages? A wolf parent gets go to in the enclosure with the wolves. VERY, VERY COOL!!! You have to sit through a one hour presentation about wolves and how to interact with them. Then you get to go hang with your wolf. We paid for Monty to photograph the Steve-Wolfgang interaction - well worth it! There is a gift shop with lots of cool wolf stuff. You can buy a tiny vile of wolf fur or a t-shirts with many of the wolves pics on them. Proceeds go to support not only the wolves but the coyotes, foxes and bison who live in Wolf Park. Honestly, I am laughing about the wolf thing but these people are dedicated and truly love the animals. Come for Howl Night, get sucked in, adopt a wolf. You won't regret it. read more

I sponsored Wotan back in June, and had my first sponsor visit this past weekend. THIS WAS OUTSTANDING. This experience went way beyond my expectations. My wife traveled with me from MI. It was a 2.25 hour drive, but the drive way easy, and my wife loved traveling through all the small towns. There was another sponsor this day also. We spent about 45 min watching the safely presentation, as this my first visit. My wife also found this fascinating. We got very lucky, as it was a cool day, and were told, that this should make the wolves very interactive. Once done, we had a few min before Monty arrived (as I arranged in advance for pictures-price is $50). So, we sat outside the main pack pen, and watched the wolves arrive. Once Marty arrived, we were let in. Not only did I meet Wotan, but I also met Ruedi and Dharma. This was amazing! My wife took tons of pics from behind the fence, but I can not wait until Marty CDs arrive with his pics. He was up to 1500 pics by the end of the day, and if he is able to send a few 100, I should get some great pics to blow up and frame. We were in this area for quite a while before moving on. The other sponsor was sponsoring an east lake wolf, so I got to tag along also on that visit We walked to the other side of the park, and the 3 wolves plus Wolfgang tagged along inside the fence. We had some time on the other side, as they had to move some wolves around for our visit. So, we got to see the 2 foxes, 1 coyote, and the 5 puppies (who are not so small anymore). We also saw every other wolf on the property (through their fence) as we were waiting for our visit with Tristan and Kailani. This second visit was also outstanding, as I had great interactions. My wife had a great time also watching me, as she was also able to chat with the staff and garner a great deal of education about the park. We also stopped in the gift shop and she bought a shirt. I ended up spending about an hour and a half total, for the whole experience. The staff was extremely nice and friendly and knowledgeable. The wolves were amazing. I plan to go back in November when the wolves have their full coast for more pictures. And next year, when my sponsorship ends, I will be signing up again. read more

We've been debating on coming here for a couple of years. Do you come on a weekday when only tours are available or on weekends when demonstrations are also provided. At one time a well-controlled demonstration of bison/wolf encounters was available, but that got canned because some nincompoop decided that the wolves or maybe bison couldn't handle the "stress" or something, complained to the right people to get this part removed from the demonstrations. We came for the weekday guided tour. The pace of everything is a bit slow here: Slow to open, slow to start the tour. The staff on the other hand is not slow when it comes to answering questions. Knowledgeable people work here and know their stuff. My biggest complaint was the fences between human and wolves, or bison or coyote or fox. Necessary, I guess. There are ways of having actual wolf encounters here, but that costs more. The afternoon for wolves is not the best time to see them. They like to lounge around and do things like nap. Fortunately, unlike some tours, ours had wolves that were interested in coming to the fence for a visit. The wolves got to howling after our guide got the coyotes a-howlin'! That was interesting. The bison were up close to the fence, heads buried in the grasses chomping away. The tour is reasonably priced. All that you need is about an hour of time for the tour. It is worth a visit even if you had seen wolves before. read more

Wolf Park is such a cool place to visit! I would recommend to anyone within a few hours drive who loves wildlife. They have wolves, as the name implies, but they also are home to coyotes; bison; and foxes. Growing up in rural Indiana, I've not come across much more than coyotes so the wolves are much larger than what I had expected. It was interesting to see both species somewhat close to each other for size comparison. I decided to check out Wolf Park on a free open house day in the early spring - WOW, it was busy. It took us almost an hour to travel 0.8 miles down the entry drive to the park due to the traffic. The weather was pleasant and animals were mostly sunning, but a few wolves and the coyote pair were more active. Our self guided tour through the park was nice and I'd like to return for one of the "Howl Nights" this summer. Bring old shoes you don't mind getting muddy and a desire to learn about wildlife to and enjoy these amazing animals! read more
