We were told, "Another applicant came through, so we'll let you know," and were passed over. Two weeks after that, we were contacted and asked if we were still interested. We said yes, and only then were told there was "missing rental verification" (even though we had already supplied that to Kevin directly, and he confirmed receipt) and that we needed to reapply and pay new application fees--$75 per applicant plus $25 for ESA verification--even though charging duplicate application fees appears to violate Illinois HB 4926. We reapplied anyway because we didn't want to lose the house. Communication was slow, inconsistent, and updates only came after repeatedly contacting the office. The owner of the property requested a double security deposit, which we agreed to, and then we received written confirmation from Kevin that our offer was accepted. That same day, Brett Kendrick told us, "Another applicant came through, so we'll let you know." After nearly a month of delays, shifting terms, repeated reopenings of the process, and additional fees, we withdrew and requested a refund, which was denied. Beyond the financial impact, this process cost us significant time and emotional distress. As a rental property owner myself, this was the most unprofessional exchange I've had. Renters should be aware that even if you apply, and qualify, and are approved, nothing is final.

Because I wanted the listing to be active more quickly than the timeline presented, I agreed not to initially posting interior pictures until after the listing was live. Two pictures of the outside of the house were taken by the agent's cell phone for the posting of the listing. The quality of the pictures was horrendous, both were blurry. When I started questioning things, showings dropped off from several a week to none. This continued until the listing ended the first week in July. I was told that the prime time to sell a home had passed, which was the reason for the off the cliff drop-off. Mind you this was mid-June in Chicago. With the house being sold in 'As Is' condition the feedback clearly identified the lack of interior photos was problematic. Ms. Allegra also did not disclose the "As Is" condition in the MLS despite me pleading with her to do so. She would agree verbally but then nothing was followed through. She finally added this days before the listing was terminated because I started documenting. That is when Ms. Allegra requested to end the listing. I was fine with this but then experienced more problems with sign removal and she also gave out my contact information to a neighbor. I received hostile text and phone messages, one at midnight, before I blocked the number. Lisa Allegra was quick to point out she sells million dollar homes in Hinsdale but that doesn't add up with the blatant unprofessional conduct I endured for about 4 weeks before the listing was ended. She intentionally misrepresented the house by not disclosing its 'As Is' condition and refusing to take interior pictures. But this is about retaliation for filing formal complaints against David Stein at Re/Max All Pro so in this context her actions make sense but still far from acceptable.

If you only need an agent to unlock a door and charge commission then hire Susan Stevens. If you are looking for an honest agent who is genuinely instersted in her clients best interest, select another real estate company. If you just want to pay someone to oversee paperwork, hire Susan Stevens. The owner, Tom Boyle, was not any help with fixing the mess his employee (Susan Stevens) could have prevented. My goal of this review is save future clients money and frustration. I highly encourage you to seek a different real estate company.
