But I was staying at the Marriot hotel and I spoke to a lovely lady at the front desk named Mirah who was super sweet. The massage it self was great she assessed my needs and pains and worked her way into the areas that needed it the most and the experience overall was relaxing. Spa days are always a plus especially when it comes to some pretty views and a hot tub. This was my first time visiting prossage wellness , the vibes , energy & decor was cute . My masseuse Lisa was good hit all the needed spots & some spots harder than needed but didn't know until after the fact ( no bigger stretching helped get the kinks outs ). One thing I wished Lisa didn't do was talk the entire massage, even when I was quick or short on the answers she didn't get it & I didn't know how to tell her to stop without feeling like I was being rude but as a masseuse you should know that is one thing that is not needed or wanted unless other wise mentioned from the client. Was in town for J. Edward Griffin's Red Pill Expo and it was either the thin hotel pillow or the excessive amount of wine I drank at the banquet, or both, that left me with aching and sore muscles the next morning in desperate need of a massage instead of listening to more anti - vaxx speakers. I liked the demeanor of Blake the most out of all the local massage places I called so booked an appointment for lunchtime. The spa is at the top of the Marriott Hotel, which is absolutely stunning. You don't feel as if you are in downtown Hartford when you step into the lobby with its huge wow factor. There are two restaurants on the ground floor I definitely want to try one day. Getting off the elevator at the top of the hotel, I was greeted by a hunky guy who had me do a double take wearing only a towel with washboard abs. OMG I was in Heaven and didn't know what was going on until I realized there was a pool and hot tub on one side of the spa. Do plan to use the facilities along with your spa service. The spa side is tranquil and lovely and so on point with relaxation and good energy. Blake was phenomenal and tender and truly able to work out kinks and leave me feeling better to absorb the conference material. He was telling me they also offer acupuncture which you can combine with a massage like I do in NYC and most of the staff have worked together for quite a while. Blake has truly created a wonderful spot with great ambiance. I'd suggest to valet park instead of driving into the convention center parking which can be a maze. May as well live it up all the way on your day of luxury and pampering. Oh, anyone driving through, the Marriott and the spa is very easy access to the highways. Our first massage here was a great experience however we wanted to go back for a second couples massage and that's where everything failed. My husband called Denise who works there to book a couples massage.There was a 3pm available on sunday..he called the Saturday night and left a vm so he can give his card #.He also called back Sunday morning and spoke with Denise again to let her know he's calling back in 10 mins to give his card #...10 mins passed he called again and guess what?! This is a hidden gem in Hartford. Once you come here, and take advantage of this true getaway, you won't go anywhere else. It's on the 20-something floor of the hotel. So, you have to park (and pay for) in hotel parking, then check in with front desk staff for access key. I promise you this is all worth it! The spa shares floor with pool and fitness center which you will also have access to at the time of your appt. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS! Make the appointment and then stay awhile! I usually do hot tub/pool first then massage. I have also done workout, pool, hot tub then massage. I've had several therapists. All good. When I call for an appt I feel comfortable taking anyone who is available. Denise who coordinates appointments is super friendly and promptly gets back to you after leaving a message. I have visited Prossage twice in the past few months. I particularly like this place for the well equipped fitness studio; most equipment includes personal TV ...cant get better than that. Spa visitors can also take advantage of the pool and the hot tub as well. The pricing for massage is what you can expect at a mid-range spa. I found the pricing for facial higher than normal. I got my first massage with Lisa and she is great- asked me plenty of questions and really worked on my trouble spots. It hurt quite a bit but it is the first time i have walked away without those persistent knots in my back. The 2nd time I tried a different masseuse and she tried a very different technique on me altogether where she was exerting sustained pressure to each area. At one point she climbed up on the table and placed her entire body weight at different points in my back. This was really unconfortable and I felt like I was being choked. I did not enjoy this massage as a traditional massage is what works best for my body. I usually end up spending some time swimming and in the hot tub reading before leaving this place. They have a restaurant downstairs, I wouldnt be surprised if you can order lunch to be delivered there as well. This place really has the potential to be turned into a full service spa. The one thing that irks me everytime is the unavailability of robes. I usually work out or am in the pool before the massage and i dont want to redress again. But their towel are so tiny that you dont feel comfortable even walking the short distance from the bathroom to the treatment room. This is especially an issue because the hotel guests who have access to fitness room and pool may not be comortable running into half naked people walking around the hallways. But other than for this one minor complaint, I am a fan of Prossage and will return. read more

So, my last review of Prossage was less than ideal considering the circumstances surrounding my visit - mistaken schedule, shortened massage but being charged full price, etc. However, my return (which I vowed never to do) was fantastic. First of all, they've moved and are now on the 22nd floor of the Hartford Convention Center Marriott. While they are by the pool, which is used by any patron of the hotel, their space is carved out nicely and the reception desk is right off the elevator. The waiting areas for the treatment rooms are pretty private, with cold-ish water, tea, and chocolate available as you wait. It's very chic looking - no longer the, umm, "authentic" and "vintage" look they had on Allyn St. Second, my return came thanks to a phone call from one of the employees who happened to, of all things, come across my previous Yelp review. She looked up my contact information, called me, apologized for my experience - in a very genuine way - and offered me a complimentary 90 minute massage. I was reluctant at first, because I'd sworn never to return, but the allure of a free massage with the fantastic, nameless massage therapist (her name, I learned upon my return, is Lisa) was far too strong to deny. Lisa, as I expected, was fantastic and the massage was well worth the wait. I was so pleased with the service and the level of professionalism involved that I scheduled another massage for my birthday (also because as a patron I can use the pool and jacuzzi on the same floor). happy birthday to me! read more

Its not a full service spa where you can get your hair and nails done, just a place that is the best at what they do...heal your mind body and soul with massages, acupuncture, and facials. After giving birth a week earlier I was surprised with a massage from my husband. I had never been to this massage location and thought based on reviews it would be good. I booked a 2 hour massage with lisa who received high remarks. I was really disappointed. Walking into the spa I was not asked to change and put on a robe. I went into the room that was cold and large with two massage tables. There wasn't a place to put my clothes and getting into the massage bed it was cold also. She came in and asked about the kind of massage I wanted and explained i wanted to relax and preferred a Swedish massage. She said no problem. She was going to warm up my muscles and then get started. The massage ended up being a deep tissue which wasn't relaxing at all. She didn't use enough oil so it felt like my skin was being ripped. I was cold he entire time and it was the first time i looked at the clock go see how much longer I had to endure this "massage". Lisa was very nice and if you are looking for deep tissue she is your girl but I won't be back for another massage and need a massage after this massage. read more

I just returned from a wonderful deep tissue massage from Lisa. She spent time getting to know what brought me in, what my problem areas are, and adjusted her techniques based on my needs. While I will definitely be sore (which I would be disappointed if I wasn't after deep tissue), I am relaxed and happy. She found spots I didn't even know were tight, and worked them out to the best of her ability. I will absolutely be back after my half-marathon in a few weeks! read more

Amazing experience at Prossage last week. From the moment I walked in, I knew I chose the right place for a long awaited massage and facial. Everyone was pleasant and made me feel comfortable and relaxed. They even allow you to use the pool and hot tub before or after your service! After checking in, I was given a comfy robe and keys to a locker to store my belongings. After changing, I was brought over to a waiting area to complete a questionaire while I sipped on some yummy herbal tea. My massage was sooooo relaxing. Perfect amount of pressure. I think I may have even fallen asleep! The only downside was that I wish it didn't have to end! Lol After my massage, I took my time in getting up. The staff doesn't rush you at all. I relaxed for a bit, sipping on some cucumber water before heading into the next area for my facial. My esthetician was Sheryl. She was great! We had an opportunity to discuss my problem areas and she explained everything she'd be using on my skin. Honestly, the facial was as relaxing as the massage! I've never experienced anything like it. During the entire facial I was laying under these warm comfy covers...I felt like I was in a cacoon! Sheryl massaged my shoulders and used a few different creams on my face. Everything was perfect and my skin felt so soft afterward. I met up with friends afterward and was told i never looked so relaxed! Lisa is the bomb. Best massage ever. If you tell her to apply pressure, boy does she apply pressure. It wasn't always relaxing, but that's what I wanted/needed. I arrived early and used the gym, which is a nice hotel gym with views and everything you'd need. Denise at the reception desk was awesome and accommodating. I asked to move my appointment back 15 minutes, and she made it happen. There's a locker room, and she supplied a robe and got me settled. They give you a questionnaire about your ailments and then you move into the treatment room. For the price, this massage was amazing. Even if it were pricier, I still would have been happy. This was my first professional massage...I did not know what to expect, but I can say that when I walked in I could not move my neck, shoulders and my lower back was in a lot of pain. I have a fracture on my third lumbar, so when I am in pain, I have to limit walking. Blake is a true professional. When I got off the table I felt like I had been drinking...for about six hours after that, I felt pain...But after that, I have not felt like this in years! Wow! I am running up and down stairs! I have been a faithful patron of Prossage for about 3 years now. I cannot say a bad thing about Blake and his team at Prossage. They are total pro's that are focused on muscular health, acupuncture, and total well being. When I met Blake I was suffering from an upper back / neck injury. While nothing can heal back and neck issues, massage is a worthy treatment. The team is top notch; I've also seen Holly for a massage every now and again. You may feel that heading into Hartford is a pain for a massage but I assure you it is worth the effort. Unfortunately the city of Hartford recently removed the parking access in front of the Marriott but you can still find street parking if you get there at the right time. read more

This review comes as a result of our appointments being canceled (July 2010). I have made the appointments about 2 weeks in advance for my mom and me before she was to have a major surgery--it was our girls day of relaxation. I called to confirm the day before and was told we were all set. The day of our appointment, I received a call at 11am (for a 2pm appointment) and was told that they only have one therapist available because one was on vacation and one had called in sick and they would need to move the appointments around. She offered to on a weekday, I live in NYC... These things happen but it is disappointing that the spa still trying to make a name for itself in the area does not have a roster of freelance therapist to step in at times like this. It was even more upsetting since my mom was really looking forward to her massage. Given the reviews, i would like to try this place at some point however am hestitant given my last experience. I was a client at Prossage for quite some time before moving up to the Northampton, MA area. While there are some decent Masseuses up this way, I have yet to find anyone that compares to either Blake or Lisa. This was proven when I drove down there after a two year hiatus. They work with you to find out not only what you want, but what your body needs. Following a car wreck I was involved in, these two were just about the only people who could set my shoulder straight. The atmosphere is fantastic, though the new space in the Marriott, while beautiful, has nothing on the old location for aesthetics. Either way, same great service. Let me start by saying that the actual massage was fantastic, the masseuses were very professional and attentive for my couples massage. I wish I could say the same for management. After using a certificate that I was given as a gift, and the services and the length of the massage being confirmed in advance, received a call the day after the massage seeking payment!?!? The owner was certainly less than professional as he was the one who made the arrangements in advance and then refused to call back to discuss the confusion over the redeemed certificate. I don't fault the staff at all, they provided a great service, however the management is doing a great disservice to the business. Despite getting a good massage I would never recommend this business to anyone, there are plenty of other places to get a good massage and not be subjected to rude and unprofessional behavior. read more

I was introduce to Prossage a few years back when I was working at Aetna. Blake had set up chair massage there for employees. I had gone to see him for a severe muscle issue I was having from my shoulder and up the side of my neck. It was extremely painful! In just 15 minutes Blake told that muscle who was boss! I walked out of there finally feeling some relief. I have been a client ever since. Blake is the best when it comes to muscle, tendon and joint related issues. I have had many and he has rescued me in all circumstances. I was in recently for an issue with an inflamed SI joint which was going on for a month. Two days after the massage I am almost back to 100%! I love Prossage and Blake and would highly recommend to anyone looking for some relief or just for a relaxing massage. I have had a very hard time finding anyone as good as Blake for deep tissue. Their new location is easy to get to. Right off the highway and parking is a breeze. The studio is calming and relaxing with a great view of the city! The staff is also welcoming and friendly. Thank you Blake for such awesome service! I am a client for life! read more
