Never returning!! Called, asked if we could get in at either 5:00 or 5:30? Response from person on telephone was 5:15 and was asked if I was 21 years old. Not sure why? Arrived early and was told we could sit anywhere, only two tables occupied so no problem getting in at 5:00. Food was not good received my steak rare, brown on outside and bright red inside. I order it cooked to a medium temp. Waitress checked back and I explained that the steak was not cooked properly. She proceeded to remove the bowl broccoli from my plate and took the steak back to the kitchen. When the steak was returned it was well done and burnt. I complained and the waitress response was, " I am so." Husband's steak did not look or taste like a New York cut. Lacked flavor/ marbling. We should have never paid for the meals. read more

Me and my family are on a vacation in Cody we came across this saloon and the best way to put it is that it's pretty good and I loved the decor, but what I thought was ridiculous was that me and my family of four were waiting 30 minutes for a beer and a few sodas and they weren't busy at all. I was very excited to try this Restaurant with family as I was told it is the best place to get a steak in town. Pros: The atmosphere is nice and the building, historic. The tap beers were lovely. The baseball cut was cooked perfectly and to order. Cons: The Rocky Mountain oysters were partially burnt and had many pieces of random unidentifiable fryer jewels served alongside. The French Onion soup was mediocre at best. Presented nicely but had very little flavor and undercooked large pieces of onion. The prime rib was ordered rare. It did arrive at the table rare, but unfortunately very cold as well. When we asked for it to be warmed up, we were informed that it would require cooking (given, in Au Jus) past a rare condition. I feel like the prime rib was plated entirely too early and allowed to cool prior to being served. I do appreciate though that they didn't simply accept to warm the prime rib up and put it in the microwave. Thank you, many other places would do precisely that. As you are entering the restaurant from the rear parking lot, there is a large greasy oil trap just next to the patio. You have to walk across a grease stained segment of concrete to enter. It is off-putting and makes the floor inside the restaurant extremely slippery. Finally, our server was very friendly and upbeat. She unfortunately though was not very attentive to us during our dinner. All items including appetizers, salads, soups and entrées arrived within 10 minutes of each other. This doesn't allow customers to enjoy their food and the table quickly becomes overcrowded with plates. Our waitress allowed every single one of the baskets and dishes to pile up on the table, creating a very crowded dining area. I had to move my entrée and salad back and forth across the table as there was not enough room to eat both at the same time. We had to stack our dishes 2-3 items high in order to accommodate our entrées and she did not take a single dish from the table. The Proud Cut has great potential but unfortunately has fallen extremely short of the mark for what is marketed to be a premium steakhouse. read more

The fries were not very good, but the fish and chips were good. Philly sandwich, chicken tenders, mushroom burger and Thai salad were good. This was a lovely, and unexpected experience. Under other circumstances, we would have passed right through Cody but we just so happen to be going through around lunchtime and my husband was craving a burger so I dove in on some yelp reviews. Based on what I read I was a little concerned about needing a reservation and trying to get in on a Saturday afternoon without one but it was no problem and the restaurant quickly filled in just after we arrived so I'm happy that we were able to get a spot. Ryan was our server and absolutely wonderful. He gave us a lot of great info about the area in addition to the menu. We had the Fried Green Tomatoes (highly recommend!) the index burger with steak fries, the rodeo with chips, and I couldn't resist the tipsy cowgirl, and the huckleberry martini. The atmosphere was great, entrance sign states adults only I think because of the bar that's in the main dining room, but there was a family with a minor that arrived while we were there who was able to be seated in the back dining room. Yikes! Avoid this place at all cost! Staff was nice and friendly but that was as good as it got! We were in a mood for a steak. After all, we're supposed to be in 'beef country.' I a New York Strip Steak, Medium Rare Plus (meaning between medium rare and well done) and a baked potato. I also ordered Fried Onion Rings for an appetizer. Those never ever showed up (but it wasn't on the bill so it was OK). The baked potato was very hot but - wouldn't 'ya know it - the steak was very cool - just above room temperature. My wife's Beef Tenderloin was similarly cool to the touch. A friend with us also got a cold steak. I took a couple of bites and concluded that the meat was pretty good and fairly tender. They must have done the steaks and waited around until the potatoes were done. I took my steak back to the hotel that had a refrigerator in the room. We travel with zip lock bags and I put this steak in one and left it in the fridge until we left a day later. I had it packed in my carry on bag and it was still cool to the touch after getting home later that day. I had it for dinner the next night and it was fine! I reheated it in an Air Fryer. So, it wasn't a total waste. read more

Would recommend trying this place if you're in town. Fortunately, as we were paying our tab, I asked him the standard opening line, "are you from here?" What followed was 3 minutes of seeing him light up as he talked about his future plans, his desire to become a traveling nurse, with cardiac expertise, and his military background. We paid the tab and thanked him for his service, and wished him well. PLEASE engage with your wait staff, cashiers, tour guides, etc., and find out a little about them.
