I started with a Texas toast with cheese and crab meat that was joined with a sauce to dip in, it is delicious! Chef's kiss! Next, was a flatbread with fig spread, prosciutto, arugula and some other stuff; it was too much fig jam. It tastes good, but more like a dessert. 2 stars because we had such a great experience here a couple years ago, but this visit was unfortunately really disappointing. We came to celebrate Mother's Day and had a reservation, but still had to wait for our table until other guests got up. We ordered almost immediately after sitting down and still waited about an hour and a half for our food. When the food finally came out, the steak and shrimp were overcooked, the food overall was very underseasoned, and we weren't told one of the sides was unavailable until right before the food came out. We were also asked if we wanted extra pita bread with our hummus appetizer, but it was never mentioned that there would be an additional charge for it. For a $200 meal, we expected much better quality, communication, and service. Really hate leaving this review because this used to be one of our favorite spots, but this experience did not match the price or the reputation we remembered. read more

I would give this place a three and a half if I could, but I'm going to round it up to a four. First off, the ambiance is absolutely adorable, and the place itself is charming. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, which I really appreciated. The only reason I'm giving it four stars is because I logged into my Yelp account and, for the first time ever, received a free, very inexpensive appetizer offer. However, when I tried to use it, I was told they don't honor it. On top of that, we ordered a flatbread, and it came out burnt to a crisp on the edges and underneath. We didn't complain because that's just how it goes sometimes, but it was disappointing. That said, everything else was good, the charcuterie board was delicious, and so were the meatballs. I might make my way back in the future, but it's not at the top of my list. Overall, the service was impactful, and I commend them for that. This was a great stop during restaurant week. 3 courses for $45 was such a great deal! We started with dirty martinis. Course one, butternut squash soup 5/5 and a crawfish tart 4/5. The pastry of the tart was cooked beautifully. Soft and flaky but a little crunch on the edges. The bacon crumble and goat cheese in the soup were a nice balance with the soft texture of the creamy sweet soup. Course 2 short rib rigatoni was so nice and overall a great dish. When Chef Cameron came out to the table I raved about it bc it's not often I can find a great pasta that's not seafood or classic spaghetti. The short rib was tender and fell apart easily into the noodles that were nicely tossed in a cream sauce. I love an extremely creamy sauce and at first I thought I didn't have enough but the flavors were so bold and the noodles just held the sauce easily. The chicken lollipops were roasted nicely (in my opinion) & White bean cassoulet was a surprisingly tasty bite for me. Course three we had pecan butter pie which had a nice crunch to it but still some softness to it and snickerdoodle blonde was just the right amount of sweet. Alicia was attentive and fantastic! Very yummy but expensive! Very cool concept of serving boards and they had plenty of other food options. We sat at the bar, so we were always set w drinks and food lol. Didn't wait too long for anything. We started with wine, of course! I got the Prosecco and it was delicious! For an app, I got the crab cakes with sauce on the side. They had a corn mixture instead of the crab cake, which I was iffy about before I tasted it, but it was actually good. Two crab cakes with the serving along with asparagus and tomatoes. My mom got the meatballs, and they were very dry but spicy, which I liked! We shared the steak and potato board, which they said fed one and a half people, but boy, we were so full after we ate it! The steak was perfect... we got a medium cook on it. The balsamic glaze that I dipped the steak in was SO good. The board also came with potatoes, mushrooms, cauliflower and spinach. To me, the cauliflower and spinach had no flavor, but the mushrooms and potatoes we delicious. I would recommend just getting a board and sharing like we did! read more

What a pleasant surprise! Came here on a lil date night and was extremely pleased with everything. When we arrived, the hostess made sure we had a nice table that wasn't too cramped between others. Our waiter had great suggestions for us since we hadn't been here before. A nice touch was him suggesting we split a salad and it was brought out to us already proportioned in 2 bowls. He made sure our drinks stayed full. We ordered the steak board since it offered a lot of options. Initially I thought it wouldn't be enough food but we had enough left to take home. Everything on it was delicious..especially the balsamic marinated mushrooms. I was too full for dessert but of course we got one anyway. Had the pleasure of visiting this place for brunch with a friend recently and I must say the ambiance was the first thing to catch my eye. It's perfect for a date or anniversary night even a proposal. Secondly I was gracious to meet the general manager serving us while we were there. He mentioned they were short staffed and he didn't want his team to drown so he put on an apron and helped out. How cool is that‼Just for that great leadership we will be returning soon. Not the best but definitely not the worse either. Definitely a little on the pricey side. I find that the appetizers are way to go. All of the starters are tastier than the steak charcuterie boards in my opinion. My girlfriends and I will usually order all of the apps and have a light munch with alcoholic beverages. Wowza. It was everything I had hoped for. Sadly, I was hungry and did not get a pic of the salad and entree but did manage to snap a pic of the dessert. Tonight, we decided to go on a bit of a "world tour." We started off by sharing the proverbial wedge salad. I can tell you now that I will crave this salad. It was so unique compared to your typical wedge salad, including roasted tomato, pickles, feta, in addition to your typical wedge ingredients. If you aren't a fan of bleu cheese, it was not heavy on it. It was also unique in that it was served on romaine instead of iceberg lettuce, and that gets an ovation in my book (iceberg lettuce is meh in my humble opinion). For the main event we opted to share the South of the Border board. It was huge and we brought home leftovers. The meat was all cooked to perfection, and the accoutrements complemented everything perfectly. I would absolutely order it again, though I plan to try something different when I return. If you like street tacos, you will love this board. Finally, we could have (and should have) stopped after the main course, but how does one not get dessert when a dessert board is advertised. Lucky for us, you can order an item that is on the dessert board individually if you aren't with a big enough crowd to share it all. We opted to try the baklava and get a taste of another part of the world. If you think a piece of dessert is what you're getting, you'd be wrong. There were 4-5 pieces of baklava on this plate (see the picture). It was as good as it looks. I am so excited to have this restaurant nearby and look forward to returning many times! read more

We had been wanting to try Proverbial for some time now! You'll want to be sure to make a reservation as they are typically busy for dinner and the wait is always up to an hour or hour and a half for walk ins! We started with the Burrata + Prosciutto as an appetizer. The dish was amazing except for the lack of prosciutto - there was one small sliver and they didn't provide enough crostinis for the size of the dish. When we asked for more bread, it was not toasted or buttered and charged us $1 for 4 pieces of white bread - if enough bread is not provided initially for the dish, asking for more shouldn't cost so I recommend at least 8 crostinis for the dish and more prosciutto or else it's really a burrata dish with balsamic vinegar reduction. We both ended up getting the Brisket and Short Rib burger which was phenomenal! Highly recommend! The potatoes were good and I appreciated a non-fried traditional French fry so the potatoes were a nice touch. The sauces that were served, however, did not compliment the dish at all. They were each spicy and the dish didn't feel like it needed the sauces. I think they were trying to get away from a truffle aioli but honestly, this dish needed it. We ended up putting the left over burrata and the balsamic glaze on the burger which was delicious and mouthwatering. We rounded out the dinner with the chocolate lava cake. It was good but I'd probably order another dessert. All and all, the restaurant is worth at least one try but it didn't leave me feeling amazed or wanting to go back. The prices are fair compared to other restaurants in the price range and food offered, but I'd rather go to their other restaurant in the group, Beausoleil - they've really nailed delivering unique and coastal cuisine that outshines from the rest! read more

They provided excellent service and were a joy to speak with. PWB does not offer any wine tastings or flights, but I was informed that that is something they are looking into adding. However, we were able to sample some wines, at no cost, while trying to find one to our liking to order a glass of. We ordered the Hummus plate appetizer and Garden Board. Both were quite good. My fave items were the olives, portobello mushrooms, harissa carrots and moussaka. Nut allergy sufferers - note that the granola and the paste under the beet salad are made with nuts. Went back today for my birthday and sadly it was not nearly as good as the first visit. We ordered the buratta/prosciutto appetizer along with the steak & eggs and Proverbial breakfast. Our entrees arrived but we had never received our appetizer, and the server admitted that he forgot to put in the order. Sadly the steak looked nothing like the photos on the website; it was a very poor cut of meat and was cooked improperly (I ordered medium and it was overcooked). I also mentioned on the reservation that it was my birthday, and I wasn't really expecting anything, but a simple "Happy Birthday" would have been nice. Overall, disappointing. read more

I could not wait for this place to open up last year and was so happy when it finally did. It is definitely a smaller space and they try to maximize all available seating. Hopefully since I visited in October they have added heaters to the patio because it was too cold to sit outside otherwise. Great ambiance and aesthetics, the interior is truly breathtaking. A friend and I tried a few of the cocktails, split the bread appetizer and The Godfather board. Presentation was excellent and everything tasted wonderful. Overall I wasn't blown away by anything. For the price I really was hoping for spectacular flavors but portions were small and drinks were just okay. It was just okay. We came here around 5:30pm and the place was pretty busy. Highly encourage making a reservation ahead of time. We were able to get outside seating but it was quite chilly outside. Luckily they had heating lamps outside, but there are a few unlucky tables farther away from heating lamps that would not be fun to sit at. As for food we opted to get their Prime Cut Board, their most expensive shareable board. The sharable board concept was what drew us to the restaurant so we were excited to get this board. It took about 45 min for our board to come out. The size of the ribeye was very impressive. It also came with fingerling potatoes, red wine braised mushrooms, asparagus, tomatoes, and two sides: cauliflower gratin and Rockefeller spinach. Overall it was a good meal, but it felt like they just took a steak dish and placed it on a board and then up-charged us for it. When I think of boards I was expecting something more filling and eye catching with a variety of sauces especially if we're paying $65 for it. For dessert we got the Happy Ending Board, and I don't think the name reflects the dessert. Again the board felt sparse for a $27 board. They didn't have the creme brûlée available and forgot to inform us until after we had already ordered the dessert. We opted for a lemon tart which was very light and refreshing. The tiramisu was also very good, but the lava cake tasted like store bought box cake and the biscotti tasted like Cookie Crisp cereal. You're better of getting a good dessert for a decent price somewhere else than a subpar overpriced dessert like this one. Overall, probably wouldn't come back again but it was nice to try. read more

I've been here a couple of times. This place is super trendy and fun, it is however very small. I love wine and it's located right next to where I work which is nice. Everything is more of a shareable instead of getting your own dish. I would skip the scallops. Swine dates are good. Prime cut board is great. The Godfather board is also really good. The dessert board is also impossible to pass up. The service is always really good. I believe every time we go we have the same server and I think his name is Jamie. Main focus - I came for lunch once and dinner once. dinner was my first experience here, where I got the hot chicken, south of the border board and the happy ending board. The hot chicken had good flavor - no complaints. The south of the boarder the food was great and on point with the sauces included. Only minor complaint is not enough tortillas to make tacos for the amt of food on the board. The happy ending deserts we packaged to go and only ate the crème brûlée while there. It was pretty good not to sweet but not too bland either. For lunch, I got the oven brick roasted redfish, the food was good. However the amount to price could be a little more desirable in price.
