Excellent care: Nathan Way | Great service, great location I have been here twice this past week and I am incredibly grateful for this place and the people that work here. I've been experiencing chronic hives for about two weeks now with no known cause. They come and go in the morning and night only on my legs. Over the two weeks, I've become more anxious and stressed out because I can't figure out what the cause is (no food allergies, no new detergent or lotions...etc). The first time I walked in, I was pleased with how quickly I was seen and evaluated. I wasn't that satisfied with the first doctor's evaluation at first because she said the same thing the other two advice nurses said prior to this walk-in appointment. I left with no answers but a prescription to manage the hives. Fast forward two days and today I experienced a panic attack while driving. I called my husband to come and pick me up because I knew that I couldn't be behind the wheel. I was shaky, cold, elevated heart rate, anxiety-ridden, dizzy/lightheaded.... it was bad. So he took me to immediate care here again. It was a busy Friday and the staff notified me that it would be a 2hr wait, but it's still much better than going to the ER. It was worth waiting for 1h 30m to be seen by Dr. Nathan Way. He asked me lots of questions and took his time explaining to me what hives are and how my body reacts to stress. I never felt rushed. He was very knowledgeable and had his assistant, who was also the sweetest lady ever, come and read my glucose levels and do an EKG. It really made me feel better to know that we could rule out some potential factors. I ended up leaving with the same prescription as the previous doctor but also with more knowledge that it's likely caused by stress. The staff are very friendly and patient here. They work hard to get everyone in. I would come back here again if I had to. Thank you so much! read more

I went to urgent care with bad lower stomach pain. I told the nurse who took vitals that I thought I had diverticulitis. When the pa came in Kendrick carver. (I thought he was a doctor) He walked in and said you checked all the boxes and you have diverticulitis. He never examined me. Never put a hand in me I sat in chair the whole 3 minutes. He Just wrote a prescription for antibiotics. 4 weeks later I'm still in pain so I made appt. With my gastroenterologist. He took 5 minutes and felt around and felt a big bulge. He said you have hernia He asked if Kendrick carver ever put his hands on me. I told him no he walked in and said I have diverticulitis because I told the nurse that's what I thought I had. The doctor shook his head and said hands are sone of the best tools we have. I met with a surgeon and he confirmed I have hernia. I called Bridgeport and filed a complaint that this guy does not know he should examine his patients. I received a letter from providence telling me there would be no relief in funds paid. Of course not insurance already paid them. I was wanting him trained on how to examine patients. I thought he was a doctor. It wasn't until later I found out he is just a physician assistant who is NOT qualified to be working in urgent care clinic. I will not go there again and would recommend people to avoid this clinic. If Kendrick carver cones in to examine you. Ask for a real doctor. Or go to another clinic read more

I came in to get my tricep checked out because the night before it had been swollen to the point where I could barely extend my arm or curl it. When I came in the nurse was nice and noticed that my elbow/tricep was swollen and seemed concerned. When the doctor came in, I told her that I was worried it might be a tear and that I wasn't sure if I should be lifting any weight with it because I knew something was off. She then looks at it and shrugs her shoulders saying, "oh yeah it is swollen. You'll need ice and anti inflammatory pills". Her facial expression with total unconcern. When I asked if I could get a note for my boss to look at she says "oh hahaha I see, so what do you have planned?" With such a smug look on her face as if she knew I was faking my injury. She then hands me a note and walks out of the room. She attended me for no longer than 3 minutes and didn't give me anything that was helpful. "Ice it and take anti-inflammatory" as if I didn't already know that. I looked at my doctors notes and she bull shit*ed what happened. Said that we worked out a plan and that we talked for 25 min. It's my word vs her written notes so it is what it is. Just putting this out there because the doctor told me I was good to work the next day and now my tricep/elbow are purple. Maybe I tore it some more? I won't know until I see a specialist but just a warning out there. You pay these some of these entitled doctors so make sure you get your moneys worth and a second or even third opinion. These doctors could give a shit. Just regular people that mastered the memorizing text book. read more

My daughter had a horrible experience at Bridgeport Immediate care with Dr. Lawson. She went in with concerns of bleeding and was treated like she was wasting the doctor's. The doctor asked her the same questions over and over and did not listen to my daughter's answers. She was flippant, dismissive, and treated her as if she was stupid when she asked questions about her symptoms and to make it worse, rolled her eyes in front of her after making a comment that was degrading and humiliating. She offered no compassion or real concern for my daughter. This so-called doctor needs some serious training in compassion, empathy, and listening skills. Shame on you Dr. Lawson. Providence needs to do better than hiring these type of individuals. On a positive note the lady that took her vitals showed kindness and was professional. read more

I'm a primary care physician. I don't go to the doctor. Call it a character flaw. Call it professional training. Whatever words are applied, the simple reality is docs don't go to the doctor. Anyway, I needed a quick visit. I didn't want to bug my colleagues for a curbside consult. I quickly got an appointment at Providence Bridgeport Immediate Care - and, well . . . they were fantastic. Everyone I interacted with - from intake and triage to the provider- everyone was just great. Truly amazing care. The PA I saw was so kind, professional, and personable. He was the most refreshing provider I have interacted with in a medical clinic/hospital/care facility in years. If we had more medical providers like him, our health system would be very different. I've been to this location 4 times in the past 18 months. Always helpful. Last night my husband went here, and I accompanied him. We saw PA-C Kendric Carver who was so thorough and helpful. My husband had problems with coughing, asthma, and another issue. He treated all 3 issues and was patient in explaining the problems my husband had, and why. We had about a 20 minute wait to get in, the lobby was fairly full, but they seem to efficiently work through it all. If I could request this particular PA every time, I would. We arrived at walgreens and picked up 3 prescriptions and hopefully my husband gets well. I do recommend this urgent care. I especially appreciated the time Joshua Colley took to talk with me about my symptoms, and the extra care he took with prescriptions and a blood test so I wouldn't need to come back for those. The medical assistant was patient and kind while drawing my blood -- even though it can be tricky finding my veins. I hesitated going to Immediate Care due to my past experiences with Immediate Care / Urgent Care, a P.A.at Providence Bridgeport in the past, and my overall opinion of Western medicine as a bunch of pill treatment quacks. However; Kelly King was fantastic. Very friendly. Very personable. Treated me with reciprocated intelligence and respect. Spoke to me, not over me or down to me, as has happened in the past with another Physician's Assistant. Ms. King attentively listened to my explanation of my reason for being in Immediate Care today. She thoughtfully explained the covid-19 situation as per her experience throughout, Providence guidelines, and CDC knowledge. Ms. King's talk set me at easy by informing me how she, the staff, and the facility have taken precautions required to ensure everyone is as safe as possible. Ms. King then thoroughly examined me as per the reason for my visit, deduced a diagnosis, and proper initial treatment. Because of Ms. King, I have a greater appreciation for P.A.s having proper knowlege and experience to help me, and, that Providence is patient conscious with respect to the staff in their employ. Where do I begin. Made an online appointment for 12:45 showed up early. Checked in sat in the waiting area, For 45 minutes, finally was seen by a in take nurse. Back to the lobby, another 40 minutes. Finally called on to a room to see the Dr. Another 45 minutes. I ended up there for 3 hours. No communication with the staff on the delay. This is unacceptable! If you want to be seen in a reasonable amount of time find somewhere else. read more

I'll start by saying once I finally got in. The staff was friendly and the service was fantastic. However.... Setup an appointment online at a clinic with a number of openings. Seemed clear and easy. Was told to arrive 10 minutes early and check-in upon arrival, which I did. Was told that if there were any delays I would be updated within a 6 minute window of my new time. Checked-in and was told it could be up to a 2 hour wait and that reserving a spot and checking-in didn't mean I had an appointment. Waited in the parking lot for an hour and 15 minutes before getting a call to begin my second check-in process was told I could be seen in another 3 hours. Asked if the appointment I setup online was just a random fun waste of time? Was then informed the system had a "hiccup" and I had been checked into a room since my initial appointment....I was then able to be seen quickly and things went well from there. Appointment was less than 10 minutes in total but the hiccup turned it into a 2+ hour process. read more

This clinic has all around terrible customer service. My partner tested negative for Covid on December 1st, and on December 2nd I tested positive. During those 24 hours we were in direct contact. I am 9 months pregnant. So per my doctor's recommendation, he went in to be re tested on December 6th, so we can have an accurate incubation/ quarantine period when our child is born next week. The clinic simply told him they "don't perform re testing of any kind" and wouldn't give any explanation as to why, and the receptionist refused to give me any resources to reach out to for further information, such as a patient care line or website. The only information we were given was somewhere else he could get tested- which is conveniently closed for the night. Will absolutely never be giving this Providence our business again. (Kind of gross that a healthcare provider is considered a business in the first place-way to go America!) read more

Very attentive and great with a sick 2 year old! Both the Nurse and Dr. Way were helpful, kind and full of smiles! The support staff were also friendly on our way in and out. This immediate care location is so good to us, we can make a reservation online, and when I had a little one with a fever of 106, they got us in right away. They are kind and caring, there's definitely a wait if you walk in sometimes - but that's to be expected at any medical care facility - you never know who is going to be I'll/injured. I went in for an unexpected visit due to some bleeding. Check-in was easy and swift, the lobby was clean and the receptionists were great. However, the doctor that took care of me was nothing but careless. She had informed me that I had a miscarriage and did not handle it with care or sympathy. That was my first time being pregnant and I will never be able to un-hear how she (the doctor) told me that I had miscarried. It was one of the most painful things I had to hear and the way she asked "are you okay...?" As if it was an odd situation as to why I would be upset. Lastly, in the beginning she also questioned if I was even pregnant in the first place and didn't specifically ask but you can hear it in her tone of voice that she believed that I was NOT pregnant even though a previous blood test shows that I was. In the end she ordered that I get another blood test check from them to "verify" if I really was pregnant or not. The next day, the results came in and showed that I was indeed pregnant but my hcG levels were decreasing (due to the miscarriage). I will never come back nor be a patient at Providence ever again. read more

At no point during my waiting in the lobby and being called back did they ever make me feel rushed a nuisance for showing up so late to closing time. The assistant and nurse were friendly and thorough in setting up everything prior to the drs arrival. When the dr arrived she was great. Front office was very accommodating and kind upon arrival. The medical assistant was sweet and listened to my concerns. Dr Katherine Lawson was very abrasive and spoke over me most of the appointment. She seemed to not be concerned about my medical history and criticized me when I was holding a tea telling me that it isn't hydrating... I had to explain to her that I was drinking it because my throat hurt. She provided me with no new insight and told me to keep doing what I'm doing to treat my symptoms despite being sick for nearly three weeks. Overall, the appointment could have been much better if she spoke in a kind tone, but it seemed out of her nature to do so. read more

All of the staff members are super people, professional, they actually want to do a good job. You can feel safe, all of the attending staff wear proper PPE and I know they sanitize between patients. It usually takes a week plus to see my primary. I can't just pop in and see my doctor, btw, limited to 20 minutes per patient!
