In the ER with my mom. She has terminal cancer and has been through so much. Her Oncology doctor told her to go to the ER due to the symptoms she was currently having. This review is for her ER nurse Hannah. She was rude and condescending to my mom when she asked for an ultrasound IV. Instead of honoring what the doctor said she went ahead and dug a needle into her any way. When that didn't work she went and sent other nurses in to try and poke around on her. Our provider was Sarah Newhall, I can't believe the poor bedside manner she displayed. I understand the ER is busy and the provider don't have along time to come in and chat with you that's not my complaint or concern with this provider. She came in never addressed my children who she was seeing, I get they are kids and I will ask the question but to treat them like they are almost not there is not okay. She starts in saying my son is dehydrated and has a elevated pulse and we will do an IV if I agree to that, I said yes that's why we came in, I knew he needed fluids and could not keep anything down. Then she starts in on questions his vaccine records when I said he wasn't she presses me for why is he not vaccinated then proceeded to ask if I wanted to start today a vaccine protocol Today. Her tone and demeanor changed dramatically during this short conversation. she became rude and hostile. Then at the end of questing she say well I think he should hydrate orally and leaves the room. She clearly changed her plan of care after she heard we don't vaccinate. Which is discrimination, what my belief system are have nothing to do with the care I should receive for my child. She comes back in 3 hours latter to check in with us. When she did she proceeded to be rude and short with us, stating our sons heart rate was still elevated and questioning if he's always so hard to wait up as she sternum rubs him awake. Tell us that the kids can't go back to school until they are symptom free for over 24 hours. That we are being discharge. Never once said I hope you feel better to my child. I said thank you for your care at the end and she just turned and left the room no your welcome or happy to help nothing cold and rude the whole time. Yesterday was the first time I've ever been here and I am extremely grateful for the emergency room doctor and the whole staff in the ER. They truly took the time to listen to me and did all that they could. I was hesitant on going to another hospital, just 2 days before I was at another ER and told it was in my head and pretty much good luck. Both stars go to my nurse who was incredible. I was brought. By police so when I was released I had no ride. Providence has a taxi program they provide free of charge. The ER staff tried telling me they don't. Blatant lie. They told me to Cross Highway 99 and stand where there was no place to stand because of construction to wait for the city bus . No thank you . I shuffled home in my sliders. When I finally got help up at St Vincent Providence the psychiatrist in charge could not believe they did that and he apologized as every single Providence medical facility has that service . I'm assuming it's because I had mental health issues they saw me as a subpar human being. I've had nothing but positive experiences at the two Portland locations. I've been in pain for almost two months now and visit the ER twice because of the same issue but not a single doctor was able to give me a referral to a specialty doctor regarding my case. All I got from them was "go home, take baths, ibuprofen and drink lots of water". The same experience happen a week after when I had a visit to a scheduled appointment with a physician assistant whom couldn't even get me a referral to a specialist for my pain which I've been complaining for a while over and over again to different doctors in this hospital. I tried to contact my primary care Dr. Guadiz to have a refilled prescription for my pain since no one was doing a thing about it as well as a referral to a specialty doctors which would not be covered by my insurance unless approved by her and not a single message back from her and it's been over two weeks now. Its seems that the only way for me to contact her is to make an appointment two months for now otherwise not a single sign of life. My concern is that my symptoms could be cancer related since it runs in my family on my maternal side and they're not doing anything about it! Mom went to the ER and after being seen Doctor Alexander and was prescribed medication she is allergic to. Additionally she was given medication that makes one incontinent, at a tripple dosage. Previously she went to Providence Urgent care, the intake person failed to properly record any information given to her regarding allergies. While in the ER mom saturated two 60 oz pads, this was due to one of the ER prescribed medications. The care quality was exceptionally subpar. read more

This is by far the cleanest, professional and caring hospital I have ever had to be both by choice and not. From the ER to XRay to the Nurses station on the second floor 95% of the time I was treated with care, kindness and respect. Dr. Becker is my PCP unfortunately. I had originally requested a different doctor, but everyone was too busy with their patients and he was the only one free. Apparently for good reason! I started seeing him last September for ongoing health issues that he swore up and down was just stress. I've dumped hundreds of dollars per visit for him to end each appointment with, "...it's just stress." After which I'd always point out that the only thing causing me stress is being so sick all the time, I can't take care of my family or leave the house. There was a complete lack of concern, even when I dropped over thirty pounds over the course of only a few months because of how sick I was. I've been relying on a specialist lately to get me through this since there's been no check backs or communications from his office except for the mountain of bills for each useless visit. When I've asked for my prescriptions that keep me BREATHING, he'll either outright refuse to write them, or confuse the pharmacy so badly they'll stop filling needed medications until I call and undo the damage. Even then, it'll take upwards of a week to untangle the mess, which has caused me twice to go without my asthma medications for a week or more. He's irresponsible with his patients, and his lack of care for what actually happens to them is astonishing for someone supposedly pledged to "Do No Harm." Do NOT go to this doctor. Even the office is suspect since I've had to see at least one nurse practitioner and another doctor because MINE was too busy to help me, and neither of those women could care less about what was going on. I've wasted money I don't have going to this office. Hopefully this review can help others not make the same mistake. read more

My mother in law, 90 years old , was neglected by her primary care doctor who does business out of the Providence Newberg hospital clinic. The old woman caught the flu two weeks ago but after two days sick she couldn't get an urgent appointment with her "regular" doctor and was instead shunted off to "Urgent Care" in Sherwood where she spent four hours and got no diagnosis and only anti-vomit lozenges. Two days later she went to her appointment with the primary doc but instead was seen by an assistant who came up with NO diagnosis and only refilled the vomit Rx. Three more days and attempts to get any other appointment with the primary were rebuffed. Her husband (95) was told to take her to Urgent Care - which she refused. We learned of this situation after two more days and cut short a trip and returned 600 miles and took the patient (victim) to the Providence Newberg ER on 1/9/15 where she was diagnosed as having pneumonia. This after the poor woman had been sick for 10 days. After a day in the hospital with fluid being drained from her lungs, we were told tests also showed flu. A nurse confirmed that the (neglected) flu had probably precipitated the pneumonia . As of the victim's second day in the hospital,the primary doctor has yet to see or contact her patient. Seeking to fire the primary doctor, the family is trying to determine if all the other doctors who practice out of the Newberg Providence facility are just as over booked and negligent. read more

Everyone here was very nice and the facility was very clean. However there was miscommunication with the staff and it lead to us staying an entire extra day longer than we had to. We just sat and waited in the room for hours and hours with hardly any communication. Now I have no idea what our hospital bill is going to look like and the sitting and endless waiting caused us a significant amount of stress and money. My partner went into the hospital for a hystorectmy yesterday. She was nervous and concerned. She was put at ease by an amazing nurse in the short stay department for the entire stay. A clean, LEED-certified hospital, the Newberg Providence Hospital has a welcoming look and feel. The staff is friendly, and it is easy to find your way around the facility. The sleep center staff is great, too. Although there is no charge for parking (I have been to hospitals where they charge), the lot fills up quickly during the day. If you arrive after hours, you have to enter through the emergency room door. read more

Don't trust the Newberg Birth Center The problem begins with the department manager, at least that's what I could overhear from staff whispers. I witnessed no structure, huddles of nurses whispering amongst each other and other nurses paying more attention to their phones then the patients. Seems an awful lot of free time on the staffs hands and little time with momma and her newborn. Unfortunately Yelp requires at least a one star rating but in all reality they really should receive no stars from my experience. Never in my life have I ever been treated so poorly. I went into the emergency room and straight into a bed. I waited 1 hour before I was seen, then I was treated like a drug addict because I asked for something for the pain and specifically asked for nothing narcotic. I was not even given Tylenol. I have a torn rotator cuff, and some torn ligaments. I don't recommend this place to anybody and I will never return. We took our son to the ER when he suffered a small gash above his right eye. We were pleased with the treatment provided by Dr. Disney but absolutely outraged at the $1500 bill. My wife had numerous problems with short stay/infusion. Some nurses did well and one was consistently not good. My wife has chosen to ignore her treatment at $20k a month at this hospital or McMinnville in favor suffering. I recently just had my baby boy here and this was the best experience I could ever ask for. The doctors were great and the nurses, well the nurses were amazing. I feel so grateful and lucky to have had my baby boy here. No matter what time I needed help they would help. They were fantastic and figuring out things you need before you realized you needed them. After reading rave reviews about the oncology dept. Here I made a appt. With Kelly perliwitz. I have metastatic breast cancer and was experiencing great pain, fear, and anxiety. I assumed my cancer had spread to a major organ so I had blood work,bone scan and ct scan. I was told results would be ready the following day. I went to "my chart" and nothing there. I called and was told I would have to wait till my next appt for my results. Felt like I was going to have a break down by not knowing. One front desk person was rude and argumentative with me, and the manager was the same. When my appt. Time arrived the manager and DC. Perliwitz spoke to me about the protocols there. Then when there time was up they left. When I looked at my chart from home it showed my glucose level being off the chart! Kelly suggested I take a ibuprofen for my active painful tumor pain, and had her staff book a appt for me with a psychiatrist 2 to 3 weeks out. The only thing mentioned about all my testing results were "the tumor in your breast and neck area have grown". Should we as a patient,as a human being, as a person with a terminal illness merely suppose to accept this behavior and treatment from a trusted professional???? On top of the bill, the attending could NOT get the bleeding under control and had to transfer me to another facility to get the job done! Now I am being billed for 2 Emergency Rooms for the same illness on the same day, simply because Providence Newberg Medical Center was unable to stop or control the bleeding AND THEY WANT TO BE PAID FOR THEIR IGNORANCE OR INHABILITY TO STOP OR CONTROL THE BLEEDING???
