He is full of facts about Providence and their standard 45 min tour is a great way to see the city from a different perspective. What a great little hour of information, relaxation and a small history lesson on our much changed brackish tributary. The Captain and his guide were light hearted, informative and easy going. I learned new things about this city where I have lived and worked for 28 years! The price was a little pricey, but as far as I am concerned it was money well spent. the boat was efficient and did a great job of navigating the waterway and when we went out from the river into the bay it was stable and still quite comfortable. I would recommend this as a sightseeing opportunity but also as a way to get out on the water on a warm Summer day. We had an awesome time on the cruise! Our guide was great! It was a fun way to see the city and learn some history about Providence. I highly recommend it! In addition I cannot say enough good things about the staff!! We attempted to make a last minute reservation and only 2 seats were left (needed 3). I called and left a message. Kristin promptly called me back to let me know it was full. However, a new cruise opened up the same day and she texted me to let me know, and we promptly booked it. We had the pleasure of taking a cruise with Captain Tom aboard the Providence River Boat for our company outing. The weather was beautiful (not too cold/not too hot...just right for a day on the water), the crew on the River Boat were all very professional. You could tell they enjoy what they do. When booking this private charter, I worked with Kristin to make the reservations and to have one of their recommended caterers deliver some amazing appetizers and desserts to the boat. Fantastic way to spend July 4! Kristin and Tom were amazing. I booked the tour for 15 people and everything went off without a hitch. I am a native Rhode Islander and I do at least one of their tours a year. Learn something new each time I go. Our very knowledge guide, Captain Pete, made it fun to learn about Providence. We took the Providence Preservation Society architectural tour yesterday, and it was terrific! Both the PPS guide and the boat's captain were knowledgeable about the architecture and history, so they could answer our questions and add personal anecdotes. It was a lovely day on the river! Being new to Rhode Island, we're always looking for fun ways to learn about the area. We both enjoyed this immensely. It's unfortunate that the cost of the PPS programs is a bit high--limiting the number of people who can participate--but it *is* for a good cause. I'd encourage more educational opportunities and ask that they consider making them more affordable for wider access. read more

Had a fantastic time with the family yesterday. I am happy that we saved this attraction till the end of our vacation. Our captain was friendly and very knowledgeable as well as projecting his voice so that everybody could hear what he was talking about. This was a very relaxing and fun cruise through the city of Providence. The captain was fun and full of facts and dates to jiggle your mind with regards to to the city of Providence and the water canals. So if you want a affordable relaxing and fun 60+ minutes I would highly recommend the Providence River Boat Company. The only downside was there was no parking on the weekend and we ended up paying $20 to park a half a block away which wasn't too bad actually. So don't forget your cameras and enjoy the cruise!!! read more

Took a ride during Waterfire. Reservations were made weeks in advance. It started to pour while waiting our turn but by the time our reservation was ready the rain had ended. After the crew wiped down the seats, we boarded. I'm happy they were a little behind schedule or we would have been caught in the downpour. The folks who go off before us were drenched. No bimini on this boat, which is a good thing. Being on the river, after sunset, brassieres lit, music playing, getting a new perspective of the city. What a wonderful experience. We loved the twilight river cruise! Despite a cloudy night without a visible or pretty sunset, we still enjoyed our time on the boat. We enjoyed trying 3 local wines provided on board. Captain Tom was very knowledgeable, Maddy was generous with her pours, and the other guests were all friendly. We enjoyed getting to know everyone on board - nice to talk to locals and those vacationing in Providence! The boat trip was worth the time and the money. It was just long enough and just informative enough not to be boring. The Captain was on his game, had a nice voice and didn't over do it with a lot of bla bla bla. Well done captain. One complaint: the seats. No matter how padded your bottom is the hard seats were painful. The captain was great about rotating the boat to get frontal views but you are really restricted in your movement. A cushion should be placed on the hard surfaces. Or better yet, rows of cushioned chairs bolted down in the middle would go a long way. Reguardless, this venue deserves a five star .... please get some cushions. :-) Our bottoms will thank you. read more

Easy to make reservations online. The check in was quick and The Landing is a great little shop with plenty of drinks and ice cream. Captain Tom was very knowledgeable and the boat seating allows for you to hear the entire narration.
