It was my friend's birthday and the plan was to grab breakfast at Black Pear and then drive down to go crab fishing at Barrington River by Walker's Farm. However, when we saw the kayaks, we decided to live spontaneously. I've always wanted to paddle board and the weather conditions were perfect. The guy at the tent was very kind, had us fill out waivers, and within 5 minutes we were on the water. They do require and provide life jackets. I thought it was deep water, but when we were in the middle of the river, I stuck my paddle in the water and realized I was only about 3 feet above land; I laughed. In the 2 hours, we made our way to the end of the hundred acre cove and back (they only allow you to stay on the left side of the bridge). It was nice to see the marsh lands, the houses, and the birds. It was $30 for 2 hours per person, which I thought was standard. I would recommend for a first time paddle boarder or kayaker since the waters are calm, and the scenery is nice. read more

Easy to find and reasonably priced. For two hours it was $30 per person. The gentleman running it had complimentary waters and plenty of life vests. We brought our pup which we already had his own life vest but he said he had them too just incase. Had a great relaxing time. read more

Our group of 6 adults and 3 dogs had a blast on Hundred Acre Cove and with Walker Rentals. I called Thursday to reserve 3 canoes for 6 adults and 3 dogs. Bernie was very friendly and stated there were doggy lifevests available. He asked if we'd had experience with canoeing. I printed the waiver from online and prefilled the information Our group initialed and signed on site before handing it to the lovely check-in attendants. There was sunscreen and hand sanitizer provided. They provided these plastic "floaters" in which you can put your keys or phone in it to keep it dry on the off chance of a capsize of just the splash here and there. We were all handed a life vest and the dogs too!!! Two gentlemen set up our 3 canoes in the water with oars. We were given a bottle of water each for the trip. We had packed snacks and additional drinks within each canoe. We set off around 12pm and scheduled to be back at 2pm, 2-hour rental. We had a bit of a rough start with every lady facing the wrong way. Haha. We eventually figured it out with the help of the 2 gentlemen who helped us take off. About 15 min, one of the attendants, JoJo (?) Kayaked up to us and asked how we were doing and if we needed any assistance or his guidance. We assured him we were doing well and said he didn't need to say with us. He said he was sent out by his boss to make sure and if we were good to call his boss to say the same. I called Bernie and ensured we were good and was greatly appreciated the check in. He said that safety was a priority and for us to have a good time. We stopped at 2 places during our trip and walked around with the pups. The tide was going out so it was a bit muddy, but overall nice spots to stop at. We arrived back and was helped back to shore by the same two gentlemen. We returned our life vests, was offered more water before we took off for the day. We had the most amazing time and experience with Walker Rental and will be coming back again. read more

The rental price is listed as $25. They will charge you $30. Reasonable, but more than advertised. And it's cash only. You'll have to drag information out of the employees as they have no idea how to welcome customers and explain the process. Fun area to paddle through. And they also have a boat ramp. read more

I have mixed emotions leaving this review. I don't like leaving anything negative typically because everyone and every business can have a bad day. So I will just report the facts. If you are looking to rent a kayak for a reasonable price, this is definitely the place. For two hours, one person can rent a kayak for $25. Convenience-plenty of parking off the road and signage on the road to make it easy to spot. Location-the area to paddle is pretty big and there is alot of nature to be seen. The views are really nice and it was pretty quiet except for when riding along the side abutting the roadway (still mostly blocked by trees and only in a small section you can see vehicles). All of the above got it the 3 star rating. Now for the reason it did not get more...I called two days prior to reserve a rental. Bernie was very nice on the phone, took my name and he said a kayak would be available for the time I chose this morning. He gave me great directions on how to find the place and asked that I call when I arrived (he lives in a large house about 200 yards from the put-in area). I arrived just a few minutes prior to my reservation. I didn't see anyone so I waited until it was time and called. I got no answer so I figured maybe he was on his way. At ten past, a couple showed up and I asked what time their reservation was. Theirs was 30 minutes after mine. So I called again, no answer, but this time I left a message. Finally, at quarter past, he walks over. He greets the couple first and I saw the woman point to me and was nice enough to defer him to me since my reservation was first. He waived me over and asked if I had a reservation. I told him yes, told him the time, and got no apology or acknowledgement that he was late. Now, I completely understand things come up that cannot be helped so if he had indicated that, NO PROBLEM. Instead, what does he do? He proceeds to check in the couple, get them situated, and off they went. We had to fill out waivers which I totally understand but it asked for my driver's license #. I chose not to put that on there and so glad I didn't. When I got back, there's all my personal information laying out under a rock for anyone else walking up to see. In this day and age with breaches, personal information being compromised, stolen identities, etc., this is horrifying and not good business practice. There is enough information on the form for anyone to mishandle it. Lastly, when I got back, there was no one there. Where we put in was down a step from a wall - no sloped area or dirt area. Not an issue getting in (and he did assist with that). But arriving back, since it was just me, there would be no way to stabalize a kayak to try to climb up a wall. Instead, I pulled up on the sloped boat ramp and had to carry the kayak to the rental area. I did have a wonderful time and would consider using them again (if I don't end up buying a kayak myself) but the feedback is hopefully used constructively for the owner because he did seem nice enough on the phone and maybe had a bad day. So just a friendly reminder to treat your customers well and definitely, please please please protect their personal information!! read more

On vacation doing day trips with the family this time around. I contacted Bernie , and as most have mentioned, he comes across as a nice guy. I called on a Tuesday morning and asked if we could rent some kayaks later that day around 2PM and he politely said sure come on over. Everything went smoothly and we enjoyed the time on the water. The Cove was big, but not to big, just the right size for a 2 hour kayak ride. If you're a beginner, I would go in the morning when the water is at it's calmest or on a day when it's not windy, wind creates choppy water, anyone else should be fine. Updated to some older posts back in 2019 and 2020. Bernie appears to have put into place some things that C.C. from 2019 mentioned. The website has been updated to reflect todays price for a rental and that is cash only!. You do have to sign a waiver, but they told me I didn't have to put my license # down, and the form was attached to a clipboard, not under a rock. Their were two people there to greet us and help us pick out the correct kayak for us and helped us in and out of them. This is a great find!!! The scenery at hundred acre cove is lovely and it is spacious enough that you are far away from everyone. The equipment was of high quality and well sanitized between guests. There were three young persons working the day we went and the were professional and efficient. Went to a more commercialized location shortly after this one and the comparison was stark. This location had better kayaks and better all round experience. read more
