Will not visit this branch again. I was told that my name on the account did not match my name on the check, (Vince vs Vincent). I was told they would accept it as a one time courtesy exception. Had to get managers approval. I did have other banking needs but I will take them to a more competent branch. From now on it is Walnut Creek only. read more

Just don't. Stay away. 1. According to their tech support, their backend does not connect with many major and common financial networks. Venmo cannot make deposits. T-Mobile bill pay bounced, charging me late fees. You get the picture. 2. Once they get your money, they make it difficult to get it back. External transfers to other banks take over a week. Even if you've already validated your identity in person and again via online banking, and waited for three days for the microdeposit validation link to become active (even though your other bank posted the microdeposits same day), you're still required to call an agent to verify your identity. That agent can't help you. They have to write a ticket for a senior advisor. Two days later that advisor calls you. Depending on which day of the week, it can then take another 3-5 days for the transfer to actually happen. Opening the account should have been a clue. I had to present my actual social security card to open the account. Makes sense, so far. The banker's desk is in the middle of the lobby. He then reads back my SSN so every one in the bank can hear. But wait, there's more! I was unable to access the money I deposited until one of their bankers called to interview me to make sure I wasn't using the account for money laundering. No joke! They must have gotten busted for this with some other accounts and now they make everyone's life a living hell. Go to SF Fire CU instead. read more

Went to withdraw $500 from their ATM machine. Not sure what happened, but the ATM machine blacked out, didn't receive the cash and it ate my card. Good thing the branch was still open . They were able to get a technician to get my card back . But my account was charged $504 and it's been 2 weeks and still in dispute. I heard this isn't the first time that branch ATM has done that. Joined in 2014. It's been ten years. They respected and listened to my pleas for overdrawn penalty reversals three times a year. One teller, Mercy, has been working there since before I joined: that is a good sign of a well run organization! Online banking is fluid and quick. If I could give this branch 0 stars, I would. I was denied the opportunity to receive a PREAPPROVED loan because of inquiries I had received. I had only looked at 2 other banks to see where I could get the best rate and when Provident approved me for exactly what I was looking for I was very happy. However, when the time came to sign up for the membership to receive the loan, I was told that nothing could be done about the situation. Although I had reviewed my consumer report and explained to them exactly why I had 2 inquiries (shopping for auto loan) I was still denied. I ended up going with another credit union that approved my application and membership. Overall I was extremely disappointed because I loved Provident. I wanted to use them for my personal and business accounts but I will take my business elsewhere. The banker Angie was also not aggressive or willing to help me at all, which was disappointing because before all that she was more than happy to approve me for the loan amount. Don't waste your time, there are other credit unions: Petalco, SF Fire, Golden1, etc. that will help you!!! read more

I have always financed through dealerships because that's all I ever knew how to finance a car. This time around I financed with Provident to purchase a new car, and I'm SO glad I did. Ronaldo from this SF branch, Cherielynn from the Hayward branch, and David the DMV specialist couldn't have made it a more enjoyable experience. Yes, enjoyable. I was having the worst time with my previous lien holder in trying to sell my previous vehicle to get in a new one. I wont name that company, but it rhymes with "smells hargo". Provident didn't make me jump through hoops at all. They asked me all they had to ask, and helped me navigate everything easily. The buyer for my old vehicle was even impressed at the professionalism and effectiveness of this team. When it came time to get into my new car, even the dealership was impressed with how responsive they were, and that Provident's rates were so competitive. I have been a Provident Credit Union member since 1988. I started banking at its 450 Golden Gate Ave. branch, S. F. Staff was great however; Mercy Bersonda and Mei Mei (manager at that time) often attended to me. They were quick to assist, provided detail info. and provided service in a friendly but professional way. When I retired in 2010, Mercy and Mei Mei were both transfered to 701 Sacramento branch, S.F. Due to their exemplary service, I followed them to their new location. Mei Mei had retired but I continued going 701 Sacramento branch because Mercy Bersonda remained in that branch. She has been attending to me for many years and ever since, she has been doing an exemplary job. Yesterday, it took me about an hour and half to have my visa unlock. The issue was I had my old cellphone number on file which I couldn't remember what it was and fraud dept.'s concern was they thought there were some questionable charges. The questionable charges they were talking about was already paid. I wouldn't pay them if I didn't do the purchasing. I had to make several calls at Redwood branch and had been transferred several times before I got someone who told me she would seek assistance from her supervisor. I believe her name is Theresa. Thank you Theresa for being understanding and for a job well done. Back to Mercy Bersonda, the more I realized, what a wonderful service she has been providing. Twice my visa was locked and Mercy assisted me in dealing with the fraud dept. Mercy has been providing service way and beyond my expectation as a customer.
