It's been several years and I sincerely hope they've improved BUT I've had some disturbing EMS calls here when working as EMT. Sloppy care, complacent attitudes, poorly trained staff members. One memorable 911 call, unconscious patient unknown cause, easily diagnosed by my glucose tester. Diabetic emergency close to coma, gave concentrated IV dextrose, he woke up asking 'Why am I on an ambulance'. So this isn't so unusual, they waited a long time to call 911, maybe he wasn't noticed, but the thing we RESENTED was a staff member giving us FALSE VITAL SIGNS either a feeble attempt to disguise NEGLECT or sheer incompetence. NEITHER ACCEPTABLE. Patients blood glucose was so low I thought the glucose meter needed new batteries. read more

ok this is to correct a previous post i made about this facility why it is true my original post for this facility was 1 and 1/2 star i am correcting it to 4 1/2 stars. why frist impression was extreamly bad. i must admit that i arrived here full of dis trust and angry, frist all the stuff you here in the news about these facilities and awsome super care i got at unc hillsborough location made this place look bad. i arrive while every one here was nice they did not no i was coming at least the front desk did not no. second the place seemed stuffy hard to breath air, i must admit was expecting the smell of you no what ????? body odor. i was just all in fowl mood emotional. i was determined to move out the frist time my medication was late. i came here only because i needed iv antibiotic for 14 days and i needed to be off my feet for least 2 weeks. long story short pruitt health on mt sina rd has been nothing but professional, my meds have been on time every 8 hours 6 am 2 pm 10 pm my room constanly clean my nurses kind considerate and checking ong us constantly. i listen to lady across the hall who has i am guessing has dementia the staff has been very patent and kind to her gently talking her seeing to her needs. i refuse to eat the food here because it was cold, and if my was clod so was every one else read more

They offer residents a full cafeteria and there are plenty of games and books around the facility. There is also a brand new library that opened in early 2014. If you want to be a resident you'd better get on a waiting list as I've heard the waiting list is about 10 years. It is well worth it in my opinion.

As a young guest, I didn't feel that comfortable asking questions. But most of mine were asked by some other old folks. I'm glad I came to the event! The event space was appropriately large and it was filled.

I really USE Yelp reviews and read them carefully because I really want to know WHY you like a doctor (it is just cuz you think he has "dreamy blue eyes" or is it more?) SO...HERE'S WHY I LIKE DR HILL: 1. I'm 67, fit, active -- walker, runner (not "serious" -- walk/run 2-3 miles 4-6x a week -- swimmer in summer and Fuel Fitness). I have hard plastic orthotics that I've worn for THIRTY YEARS. I assumed, when I first visited Dr. Hill, that my feet have changed over the past 30 (!) years and the orthotics would need to be replaced (not cheap, totally necessary). In other words, 30-yr old orthotics were an engraved invitation to "sell me" new orthotics. Dr. Hill held them to the bottom of my feet and said "well, these still look fine..." I'm not an untrusting person -- but THAT inspired trust! 2. She is a real "problem solver." She doesn't just reach up to her mental shelf and pull off a pre-formulated answer. She really listens and THINKS. And she's very clear, plain-spoken and practical. I have spent $2500 out of pocket (after insurance payments) trying to find out what is causing pain in my right ankle and base of my toes on right foot. 3 x-rays. 3 visits to EmergeOrtho (I could write an essay -- but let me just say I will NEVER EVER return to them -- waste of money. One doctor would contradict the next!) Visited Duke Sports -- and 3 Physical Therapy visits, who said it was tendonitis and only PT exercises would help, over a long time. Exercises DID seem to help -- but still definitely "something not right" and I've been scared to run and scared to do a lot of walking for fear I might cause some kind of real damage. 3. Dr. Hill heard my tale...took xrays. Said "I think what's going on here is complex." Said legs are likely aching due to: 1. my venous insufficiency (wear those compressions socks!). 2. Looks like I don't put the normal amount of pressure on my big toe -- causing the 2 next to it to be bearing more -- getting sore. 3. The two toes next to my big toe slant a bit towards the bit toe. Narrows the gap between the bones on both those toes, possibly somewhat pinching all the things that run between those bones. Said the hard plastic orthotics can sometimes cause an issue -- so go to a store and buy some insoles with heel cups (those were $10 -- so NOT a huge expense). Said to be better about wearing compression sock. When I said "so...why does the middle toe on my right foot stick up like that when I try to curl my toes? Still doing that after a year -- what's causing it?" She said "I have no idea. See? No b.s. -- Just one more reason why I like her. :-)

Dr Hill permanently ruined my toenails with a simple ingrown toenail procedure. When I went to a…read moredifferent podiatrist to have him fix what she had done, he said she used a technique from the fifties on my toes. On top of that, she did the procedure to both toenails, even though only one needed the work. Why? Perhaps because she is a sadist. That was the vibe I was getting. Incredibly rude, dedicated to my pain. She shouldn't be a doctor.
