We were told that residents would be given one-on-one care and attention, like hair brushing, etc. Yeah, right... Aids don't even talk to residents, let alone stimulate them. Let's start with the fact that no one wears a name tag so that they cannot be identified by patients. They assume that everyone is suffering from dementia and can no longer read. They have ZERO CARE for any patient. Pain medication isn't administered when it should be, med techs have horrible attitudes and sit in the beauty parlor talking to one another rather than paying attention to family members asking medication to be administered (took over an hour for someone to come, and we were met with a literal "what do you want?"), food is taken away from residents when they don't eat, rather than coaxing attempts to help them eat. My grandmother's diamond and emerald ring was stole right off her finger, and when we were shocked and asked where it was we were told "oh, well because the residents are demented they often give their things away." The ring was tight on her finger and she would have never, ever, taken it off. We know that a med tech stole it right off her person. The attitude of everyone working there disgusts me. Since residents are mostly demented they treat them like absolute garbage. It's true abuse, and we will be riding a complaint all the way to the county and beyond. My grandmother's hospice nurse came the day after she was removed and was shocked at how much her demeanor Do not send your loved one here. It is a true hell hole and should be shut down. "How are our Monthly Fees determined"? What elements/cost factors make up a determination to charge a particular monthly fee (which increases every year)? All we get is "it's complicated." Worse yet, if they don't know, we need someone else handling our management. We pay our CEO very handsomely ($250K annually) and to not be able to tell the people paying his salary how they are being billed is unconscionable to me and causes questions about handling of funds. Before signing to live here, I asked the same question and still couldn't get an answer and if I declined to sign, they would just go to the next person on a long waiting list. The turn over of Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants (C.N.A.) is overwhelming and never been seen at our facility before! They need a change from top down and do something to attract and retain staff. A sign-on bonus and retention bonus would be a start. Along with shift differentials for staff working 2nd & 3rd shifts. This is becoming too stressful for current staff having to work extra hours to fill in for vacancies. We've even had to bring in Agency Nurses for coverage. Something we've never done before here at GR.

The amazing team at Abbotswood moved mountains to get him in-house, and under their expert Living Well @ Home skilled nursing care...an answer to our prayer as we could not give him the care he needed. The team at Abbotswood is enthusiastic, respectful, responsive and incredibly professional! The grounds are beautiful! The interiors are updated and bright! I really USE Yelp reviews and read them carefully because I really want to know WHY you like a doctor (it is just cuz you think he has "dreamy blue eyes" or is it more?) SO...HERE'S WHY I LIKE DR HILL: 1. I'm 67, fit, active -- walker, runner (not "serious" -- walk/run 2-3 miles 4-6x a week -- swimmer in summer and Fuel Fitness). I have hard plastic orthotics that I've worn for THIRTY YEARS. I assumed, when I first visited Dr. Hill, that my feet have changed over the past 30 (!) years and the orthotics would need to be replaced (not cheap, totally necessary). In other words, 30-yr old orthotics were an engraved invitation to "sell me" new orthotics. Dr. Hill held them to the bottom of my feet and said "well, these still look fine..." I'm not an untrusting person -- but THAT inspired trust! 2. She is a real "problem solver." She doesn't just reach up to her mental shelf and pull off a pre-formulated answer. She really listens and THINKS. And she's very clear, plain-spoken and practical. I have spent $2500 out of pocket (after insurance payments) trying to find out what is causing pain in my right ankle and base of my toes on right foot. 3 x-rays. 3 visits to EmergeOrtho (I could write an essay -- but let me just say I will NEVER EVER return to them -- waste of money. One doctor would contradict the next!) Visited Duke Sports -- and 3 Physical Therapy visits, who said it was tendonitis and only PT exercises would help, over a long time. Exercises DID seem to help -- but still definitely "something not right" and I've been scared to run and scared to do a lot of walking for fear I might cause some kind of real damage. 3. Dr. Hill heard my tale...took xrays. Said "I think what's going on here is complex." Said legs are likely aching due to: 1. my venous insufficiency (wear those compressions socks!). 2. Looks like I don't put the normal amount of pressure on my big toe -- causing the 2 next to it to be bearing more -- getting sore. 3. The two toes next to my big toe slant a bit towards the bit toe. Narrows the gap between the bones on both those toes, possibly somewhat pinching all the things that run between those bones. Said the hard plastic orthotics can sometimes cause an issue -- so go to a store and buy some insoles with heel cups (those were $10 -- so NOT a huge expense). Said to be better about wearing compression sock. When I said "so...why does the middle toe on my right foot stick up like that when I try to curl my toes? Still doing that after a year -- what's causing it?" She said "I have no idea. See? No b.s. -- Just one more reason why I like her. :-)

Dr Hill permanently ruined my toenails with a simple ingrown toenail procedure. On top of that, she did the procedure to both toenails, even though only one needed the work. Why? Perhaps because she is a sadist. That was the vibe I was getting. Incredibly rude, dedicated to my pain. She shouldn't be a doctor.
