I recently discovered Prysm and I have to say it is one of my favorite places in Chciago to go to for some house/EDM and dancing. Due to its location none of the rowdy downtown crowd makes it here which makes it a great experience. The crowd is usually amazing, great place to dance and enjoy yourself, none of the toxic vibes that you get in river north and downtown crowd. The staff is welcoming and friendly (as friendly as night club staff can be). Not one of the places where you can't wear a hat or short. If you're looking for a night out dancing with cool crowd, I'd high recommend this place. read more

***Important information for anyone considering this venue*** Poorly managed venue. Do not spend money here. We bought tickets labeled "Entry Before 8pm (No Re-Entry)." Nothing in the purchase process or on the receipts stated that entry would be denied after 8:00pm or that the tickets would become invalid at that time. We arrived at 7:40pm, but the line was held outside and no one was allowed in until around 8:05pm. No announcements or instructions were given. After 8:00pm, staff told us our tickets were no longer valid, refused entry, and stated that we would need to buy new tickets if we wanted to get in. Staff at the door gave conflicting explanations and said they were following instructions from management, while also indicating uncertainty about the policy. This reflects poor internal communication and unclear procedures. As a result, we received no entry and no service, lost nearly $400 in tickets, and spent over $60 on transportation. The way this policy was applied, especially after holding the line past the cutoff and then directing guests to purchase additional tickets, appears predatory and misleading. We have submitted refund and chargeback requests based on non-delivery of services and inadequate disclosure of entry conditions. read more

I have been to Prysm on several occasions, the latest one being for Argy. However, upon reaching the venue we were informed that Argy was sick and wouldn't be able to perform. Julya Karma killed it and filled in Argy's shoes well. I like the fact that Prysm's bartenders are nice and approachable. The light and sound effects were great and we had a great experience. My friends even got a chance to go backstage. We overall had a great time. I will be back! read more

Went to PRYSM to see SIDEPIECE. Started as a 3/5-star experience but took an unexpected turn when I fainted and got kicked out. Honestly, the bouncers were the real MVPs: * Carried me out from the second floor like VIP. * No waiting in line at coat check (talk about service!). * Sent me off with a bottle of water and a full package of napkins - hydration AND cleanup covered. I recently attended Indowarehouse with a couple of friends at Prysm and it was a blast. This place is not that spacious and it does tend to crowd a bit and hence reduced the some stars. Also, the bouncers aren't that friendly. My friend and I accidentally exited the venue and we weren't allowed back in as it was pretty late, however, the artist was still playing the set inside. It was a great first time at the club, but on a Saturday people didn't start pouring in until 12am. We were there at the start of opening around 10pm, and the DJs headlines was pretty good. This is by far the worst nightclub I've ever been to. I ordered a bottle of tequila that is triple the price of what it normally should be in the store...I got the bottle it wasn't even sealed and I've drank this tequila for 20 years of my life !! THEY PUT CHEAPER LIQUOR IN THE BOTTLES !! Everything is ridiculously overpriced, and the staff are incredibly rude and unprofessional. The entire place feels unsafe, and it's clear they'll try to scam you any chance they get. If you buy a bottle, the bottle girls start drinking it themselves, so it runs out faster--then they pressure you to buy another one just to keep your table. This place was decent for what it is - a nightclub. Expect trashed people, spilled drinks, loud music. We came for a particular set and were very pleased with the bass levels and overall sound. The vibe was good and the bartenders gave healthy pours and were friendly. So service was better than we expected. I used to go to Prysm all the time when I was younger and I just came here recently. I can't say I like this club; the bouncers and staff here are pretty rude and it's a rare occurrence when they're friendly. Recently my friend was quite literally thrown out (grabbed by her wrists and pushed) with zero explanation. She was just at the bar ordering drinks while we were dancing and the bouncer came up to her and said "you're out of here" out of nowhere. She asked why and he never answered, then she asked if she could at least get her coat from coat check and the guy said no and grabbed her. She then texted us she was outside and we all left. It was around 20 degrees outside and she was outside with no coat. The worst part is was her Apple Watch went missing during this occurrence too and she couldn't find it anywhere on her or around her. She tracked the location later and it was all the way in Lawndale so someone took it. My friend complied with everything and we had gotten there at open time so none of us were intoxicated at this point. Truly unacceptable and shocking. I won't be coming back here again. read more

PRSYM was much smaller than I expected. When you walk in there is a bar and you must squeeze by to get to the main dance floor. The dance floor is quite small and surrounded by tables. There is also an upstairs area, which allows you to look over over the dance floor. The night I went the beat wasn't great, it was hard to dance to. Note, they are also hard on fakes. read more

Don't bother going here. It's overpriced, empty/not fun, and the staff will try and scam you. This venue charged $20 cover while the club was absolutely dead with zero people dancing and a terrible DJ playing terrible music. The bouncers were essentially scamming people at the door and trying to convince them the club was packed inside. Once you get inside and see it's dead they about face and say "it'll get busier". When you call them on their BS they will just flat out refuse to refund you when you leave 5 minutes later. DJ plays the same beat over and over and it's not much to dance to. Bartenders are just moping around waiting for people to show up. If you want to pay $20 cover for a club with just staff walking back and forth and shitty music maybe this is the venue for you but I don't know why anyone would waste their time and money when there are other options. read more

We came around 1:30 because that's when the person we wanted to see was going to perform. We show up and security says we couldn't get in because they're "closed", like dude there's a difference between closed and not letting more people in anymore, homeboy is an idiot. WHEN THE BASS DROPS You can expect sick beats and a wickedly cool A/V system paired with expensive drinks at this electro club. Dying to see my #3 favorite music producer on his 'Ultraviolet' tour, Nichole C bought us tickets for 3LAU (pronounced 'blau', as in Justin Blau) on Friday night 2/9/18. It was a snowy day, so we took an Uber here; I have no idea where one would park their car. Entry was simple enough and there weren't any pat-downs, which was surprising (really guys?? I could've smuggled a bazooka in my pants). Once inside, there was a coat check ($4/jacket) and several bars. I was thrilled that they accepted cards everywhere -- including the coat check -- because cash only sucks. We arrived early enough to get a drink from a saucy blonde barkeep (all of which were attractive women, most wearing black leather dominatrix type costumes). She made a strong Long Island for myself and a rather weak Cosmo for my girl. The two drinks totaled $30. The cost of alcohol is usually the first reason people complain about clubs, the second reason being cheap, bullsh*t well drinks. Not here, my friend. I noticed top shelf stuff going into my Long Island: Belvedere vodka, Bombay gin, Bacardi rum, and a "nice" tequila. No 'Sailor Jerry' or crappy Smirnoff at PRYSM. As the crowd filtered in, I was drawn to their array of lights like a moth to a flame. Their ceiling is crisscrossed with dozens of synchronized LED strips that pulse in time with the music, as stationary lights spun around periodically. A series of ultra-high resolution monitors completed an excellent audio/visual setup. Personally, I found the sound quality to be TERRIFIC. While I'm no snob about such things, I can tell when the treble is up too far, or the fade is off. The levels were exactly where they needed to be, which meant an enjoyable time for my earballs :) My favorite part were the CO2 'cannons' placed along the ceiling and sides that would trigger once in a while. They looked hella fun when they went off, but more importantly, they cooled off the entire place! On a packed dancefloor with a hundred moving bodies, I never once felt sweaty, and that's a major plus in their favor. The staff here were very diligent, from the mop guy to the maître-d'. Even the boobalicious bartenders (sorry, had to say it) were on top of things and doled out drinks at a breakneck speed. Taking orders from drunken idiots over the din of heavy bass is no easy feat, but these girls were consummate professionals, and I admired their work ethic, not to mention their saucy outfits. Towards the end of the show, someone from the upper balcony made it rain $1 bills onto the main floor, that was legit. Took home six bucks (score!) People were alright and most smelled decent, though a few were in hoodies (c'mon guys, class it up a bit). Dress code didn't appear to be strictly enforced. Bathrooms were better than expected; the attendant was chill and kept order on the men's side......though at one point a guy barged through the line and tried to do cocaine in one of the stalls? That was exciting. * TL;DR * I don't think I've ever seen a nightclub with more than a 2-1/2 star rating. People love to hate on 'em for the obvious reason of sh*tty or slow service, wildly overpriced drinks that may-or-may-not be watered down, and a stiflingly hot dancefloor. Fortunately, I experienced only a fraction of those things here. Bartenders were unflappable, the music was appropriately balanced, the video & lighting rigs kicked ass, and the vibe was L-I-T. They offer premium bottle service (VIP tables) with glowing bottles of Dom Perignon, albeit at an extravagant cost. 3LAU and his opener, Throttle, were great. I had a wonderful time overall and would return to PRYSM again in the future, should TheFatRat (my #1) or James Egbert (my #2) ever make an appearance here. read more

Went to Prysm for the first time the other night for Feed Me, also my first time in Chicago. They turned away me & my boyfriend because we had Washington IDs, and said "we cannot take these tonight". They believed they were fake because the person in front of us gave a fake ID, and they were paranoid. Although I'm 28 and my bf is 25. Instead of googling what a WA ID looks like, they said we could get a refund on the tickets, call an 800 number, and to step aside. Eventually after me crying & my man yelling at the bouncer they let us in. We were NOT going to miss Feed Me's first time back in the states. If you have an out of state ID I recommend calling ahead and confirming they will accept it. I used to live in Florida, and the clubbing scene in Miami is a lot more upscale than chicago will ever be or see. I know a bunch of promoters throughout the US and get on the "guest list" every now and then. I got contacted by "Chicago Wave Entertainment" about a week ago and was invited to attend an evening at PRYSM. Now ever since I moved to Chicago, I've been told by locals that this nightclub is considered the "trash can" of all other nightclubs in Chicago, but since I had no plans for the weekend, I decided to invite a few friends and give this club a try. After all, my birthday is coming up in January and I figured; if it all goes well, I could probably book a table here. For starters, the location is horrendous. It looks like it's located in a shopping center and it completely ruins the vibe. You can tell from the minute you arrive that this isn't going to be a luxury evening. I feel like this club would make a lot more money if they switched to a "pub". There is no organization whatsoever. The people that work there act like they are important, but we all know you couldn't get through high school and maybe just passed your GED, so cut the act and just do your job. I have no respect for people that act like that, specially in a "clubbing" scenario. The "guest list" is basically non-existent. So if you ever get contact by this club or someone promoting this club, like Chicago Wave Entertainment, do yourself a favor and do not trust a single word they say. My friends and I were promised quick entry, however, when we first arrived and asked where the "guest list" line is, we were directed to the normal line. We waited in the cold while I tried to contact "Chicago Wave Entertainment" to no avail. When we made it through the line, my name apparently wasn't on the "guest list". We eventually gave up, and after all, being a group of engineers and lawyers, paying a 20$ entrance fee isn't really the end of the world, so we just paid and went in. The evening was supposed to show case "Chicago local DJ's", but my lord the music was horrible. If it is not a name DJ, do not go. They played several songs numerous times and basically no one was dancing. On top of all that, watch out for "mop boy"; while you dance and try to have fun, someone will be moping the dance floor right in front of you, every goddamn second. Do yourself a favor and spend your money somewhere else. No wonder this club is known as the "trash can". read more

This is the worst place to see an EDM artist in Chicago. It could be good but the vibe is instead attempting to go for Vegas nightclub instead of incredible music venue. They take up half of what would be a great dance floor with ridiculous VIP booths. The skinny staff in black cocktail dresses carrying bottles of alcohol with sparklers on top are a total miss for the times. I know some EDM artists won't play here because of how terrible this place makes it for people there to listen to the music. The extra room they have in the back upstairs disrupts the sound for whatever artist your there to see. Expect to pay $20+ for a single drink and also wait in line for an hour at coat check or the bathroom. read more

I went during the weekend with my girl friends and had the unfortunately experience that one bouncer grabbed my friend from her arms dragging her leaving her arms red treating her horrible... only because she was recording a video of an artist when everyone else on the club was recording it even me... ridiculous! Seems to leave a lot of people with bruised egos, but this is probably the best club in Chicago. The one feature that helps elevate this club above contemporaries in River North is that it's really hard to end up here by accident. The result is that much of "that" crowd that usually just takes up space or generally misbehaves is immediately filtered out. If you do end up here by accident without much prior planning and no intention to purchase a table, you might be stuck in line for a long time. Not a bad trade-off. Personally, I find PRYSM to be worth it. Whether that means getting a table, buying tickets, waiting in line, or just showing up early, this is the closest you're going to get to Miami in Chicago. If you scoff at that comparison, that's okay, but I've got to call a spade a spade. The sound system, the quality of the acts, the crowd, the ability of the bars to serve people efficiently, and, honestly, even the ventilation in this place, all contribute to making PRYSM one of the best in the city. Also, don't be fooled by other reviews, the drinks here are very reasonably priced. The only con is that the dancefloor gets cramped with a lot of 'bows getting thrown. The whole place just really fills up by 1 AM. I see many reviews where people complain both about the line being too long and the venue being too crowded. Me & my girlfriend went this recent Saturday May 27. I liked the atmosphere. Bartender and barbacks were respectful. HOWEVER THE DRINKS. HORRIBLE. I asked for 2 lime margaritas.
