My earliest childhood memories are full of carefree love and adoration for my family and…read moresurroundings -- a life that was quickly extinguished by the tragic death of my older brother when I was four years old. That loss imprinted itself deep in my body and mind, and for the last 15 years of my adulthood I've been committed to healing: therapeutic retreats, DBT, EMDR, pharmaceuticals, somatic therapies, nutrition, exercise, and faith-based practices. Each pursuit offered some measure of relief from depression, anxiety, and mood disorders, but nothing touched the core. I discovered Satya Therapeutics through a friend who said, "If I did psilocybin therapy in Oregon, I'd go to Ashland -- that town has the vibe." I reached out and was connected to Bern. From our first conversation, Bern carried a presence that immediately put my mind at ease. Within a week, I was on a flight from Texas to Oregon. Bern brought a compassionate courage to the room that words can't fully measure. Leading up to the session, he spent hours guiding me to clarify my intentions -- work that proved invaluable once the medicine took effect. My first journey was epic and indescribable; in short, it became a Lord of the Rings-like pilgrimage through my life. I experienced deep forgiveness for people and parts of myself that hadn't measured up, and I began to see myself as strong and courageous rather than a victim. The ending of that journey was heavenly -- a visceral, living knowledge of a perfect eternal spiritual realm existing alongside my physical life. It felt complete and lacking nothing, with no more fear of living -- or of death, for that matter. Over the next few months, Bern and I spoke often about integrating the first experience into my life and came to realize another journey was needed. For the intentions that were emerging, we felt called to include a woman facilitator, and Meixa joined the team. Meixa brought a warm, compassionate embrace that was profoundly special. My second journey with Bern and Meixa was nothing short of miraculous. For about four hours I was able to deeply remember my brother -- his life, the significance of his loss, and the grief that had lodged itself throughout my entire body. Waves of anguish and pain surged through me, and Bern and Meixa guided me gently but firmly through releasing it all. Coming out of the session felt like a dam of love and wholeness had finally broken open -- the kind of love I hadn't felt since before my brother's death. I'm only a few days out, but everyone close to me notices the change: my demeanor, my energy, my very presence. I even went surfing this weekend, and my longtime surf partner said he hadn't seen me surf with such soul before. I'd agree -- the barrier of pain and anguish between me and the world is gone. Love and vibrant energy now flow freely through me, connecting me to people and life around me in a way I haven't known since early childhood. After Dr. Aja Morningstar agreed to accept her as a new patient I explained this to her. We trusted her office assistant (her name is pronounced "Ja-Knight") to get the information Dr. Morningstar's office is supposed to relay to Assante Hospital's Interventional Radiology Dept. (I.R.) so we could have the biopsy done that had been scheduled. The day Before the appointment Assante's I.R. Dept. called us to cancel the appointment because Dr. Morningstar's office - Jiknight specifically - who was responsible for providing I.R. an updated order with an authentication code (and other info.) FAILED to do so. I spoke to two employees at Assante's I.R. department, Colleen and Beth who informed me that after repeated efforts they had been unable to obtain a proper "Updated Order with authentication code" and that is the reason my mom's appointment was cancelled. Instead of correcting her employee, apologizing to us and immediately correcting the matter Aja felt I needed a lecture about how my "Expectations of how the medical profession operated differed from reality" instead of an apology for her employee's negligence in handling the matter. Aja would not let me get a word in edgewise so she could rush to her pre-scripted Big Finale: "So you'll have to find yourself another Dr.". Had she done so I would have told her to stop trying to cover-up her employee's negligent handling of the matter and actually help get the mess her office created fixed. Apparently, Dr, Aja Morningstar was more concerned with covering potential liability instead of being concerned about the wellbeing of my 84 year old mother-with possible cancer. They could of - at minimum - told us they couldn't get the Updated Order and other info. to the I.R. Dept. before they let I.R. cancel the appointment. We could have rescheduled it. But, as I said supra, they were evidently more concerned with not looking negligent. AVOID INCOMPETENCE!

Went to Jeremy a few times last year based on a slick website and lots of 5 star reviews. Given all…read morethe 5 star reviews I don't feel bad providing a lower one. I've only been to a few acupuncturist before, and had a few "somatic acupuncture" sessions. I chose this modality because I actually had a few very good experiences with somatic emotional reexperincing type of therapies, guided meditations by trained therapists that also do bodywork. Yes its a little new age, but I had a few done at a treatment center in Arizona once and wanted to find someone in the Bay Area that might be able to approximate. Jeremy asked me a few very generic questions during a session that were directed at "getting to the source" (or something). He also prescribed some chinese herbs without really telling me what was in them, or what they did, at a level of scientific understanding that I trusted. "Calming wind" is not a scientifically valid therapeutic mechanism -- and although I do believe many of the herbs used in chinese medicine ARE of therapeutic value, it's unclear to me why in this day and age (and we certainly should not accept) practitioners use these antiquated metaphors. The acupuncture was on the expensive side and of unclear benefit to my insomnia. The somatic acupuncutre was near-uesless and all I could think about was "are you kidding me" when I heard the series of questions. And this is coming from someone who has received significant benefit from trained psychiatrists, Clinical Psychologists, and others. FInally, he had a really offputting and disturbing smugness/arrogance, wasn't particularly friendly, and I just didn't trust him I'm sorry to say (though he gave me no particular reason not to besides the above). **Update** Jeremy graciously offered to refund my money after I posted my review, which I appreciated (and most certainly did not expect, given that I wrote this review 9 months after service after receiving a marketing email from him). And I should stress that this review was specifically about the Somatic Acupuncture specialty he markets, NOT general acupuncutre which he also offers. While I won't be removing my negative review as he requested after I accepted his refund offer, as I find that unambigiously ethically dubious, I hope this update provides some clarity.**

He gave me some Chinese herbs to drink and while I think most people would be challenged by the taste, I actually liked the way it tasted like earth. In any case it fixed me up completely. The latest thing was my left shoulder had been oddly impinged when trying to raise it up (like when you put on a coat). Once again, a few needles and it improved greatly. Of course I went in a few more times to make sure the channel stayed open. I like to combine the acupuncture session with a cranio-sacral session. David is so calm and thoughtful. I know I can count on him to really pay attention to what I need. I cannot recommend him more highly. If you schedule an appointment you might want to schedule two or three a few days apart because he is super busy and tends to be booked out a long ways. Absolutely worth the wait!
