He patiently helped us pick out a couple of great suits and once we had our measurements taken for tailoring he had our suits laid out with a variety of shirts, shoes, and accessories to pull it all together. The company was founded in 2015 in Ann Arbor, Michigan by University of Michigan friends Steven Fisher and Lee Moffie, the current joint CEOs of the company. The two decided to name the company after an intersection in Ann Arbor, in honor of the town. The idea for State & Liberty originated with Moffie and Fisher believing men with an athletic build wearing off-the-rack dress shirts lacked a professional look. I didn't really see any clothing that piqued my interest, but they have an awkward selection of snacks and toiletries for hotel guests who don't want to wander outside the hotel, and they were all overpriced, i.e. $9 for a mini bottle of shaving cream that you can get at your local drug store for $1.99. What annoyed me the most is that none of the sundries had prices on them, and so I was shocked when I got my receipt and saw a charge for $9 for the shaving cream on the receipt!! I guess if you're staying at the hotel and in a pinch your needs can be partially met here (the snack selection REALLY needs an overhaul). I would not, however, go out of my way to stop in here to shop for clothes, there are much better shops in town, if your a guy, venture over to Wilton Manors where they have some great men's clothing stores.
