I am giving this program 3.5 stars, and I want to be clear that I would have given it 5 stars were it not for my experience with individual therapy. The group therapy component was excellent. The clinicians who facilitated the groups were knowledgeable, compassionate, and created a genuinely supportive environment. I found the group work to be meaningful and beneficial to my treatment, and I am grateful for that part of the program. I also want to specifically acknowledge Hunter and Juan, who facilitated group therapy. Both were thoughtful, compassionate, and skilled at creating a safe and respectful group space. Their groups were grounding and well-run, and they made a meaningful positive impact on my experience. I would also like to recognize Albert, who was a wonderful provider. He was attentive, compassionate, and supportive, and consistently made me feel heard and respected. My interactions with him reflected the level of professionalism and empathy patients hope for when entering treatment. Unfortunately, my experience with my assigned individual therapist, Emily Tully, significantly impacted my overall care. I entered this program during a period of significant emotional distress and was actively seeking care, support, and stabilization. In my experience, the individual therapy I received did not provide that. Throughout my sessions, I found her to be emotionally unavailable and dismissive, particularly during moments when I was vulnerable or struggling. I have participated in several treatment programs over the years, and this was the first time I experienced an individual therapeutic relationship that felt consistently cold and lacking in understanding or care. When I shared openly, I often felt met with a critical or judgmental tone rather than curiosity or support. The approach felt directive rather than collaborative, which made it difficult to engage meaningfully or feel safe expressing myself. I also want to note an experience that felt particularly discouraging. Emily was aware that I was pursuing additional treatment to supplement my care and that I would need to miss a day in the program for that reason. I was told I would be required to provide a written note for each absence, despite having already signed a release authorizing her to communicate directly with the other treatment provider. While I understand that documentation requirements may be part of program policy, the way this was communicated felt corrective rather than supportive or collaborative. This approach felt unnecessarily rigid and non-collaborative, and left me feeling unsupported in my efforts to responsibly manage my care. Additionally, I believe it is important for prospective patients to be aware of the program's laboratory practices. The program utilizes an out-of-network laboratory, with individual lab tests billed at approximately $1,500 each. I was not adequately informed of this in advance. When I expressed discomfort and clearly stated multiple times that I did not consent to assuming financial responsibility for these charges, I was repeatedly told by Emily that signing paperwork accepting financial responsibility was required. My concerns were not met with understanding or discussion, but rather with continued pressure to sign despite my objections. In a therapeutic setting, compassion, collaboration, transparency, and respect for patient consent are essential. While the group component of this program -- and providers like Hunter, Juan, and Albert -- were strong, my experience with individual therapy and the handling of billing and consent issues fell short of those standards and significantly impacted my overall experience.

Their outstanding curriculum inevitably leads to a steep and necessary learning curve in emotional regulation, mindfulness, and wide variety of critical skills that can lead a calm, balanced, and healthy life. For those of you who have experienced CBT and remain on-the-fence about this approach, I am happy to report that GenPsych moves the needle to another level and I view their CBT offerings as a program on steroids (a good thing). Additionally, the 1:1 counseling was superb as well, leading (so far) to lasting change, which reminds me of these lyrics from the musical, "Wicked," "Who can say if I've been changed for the better? I do believe I have been changed for the better And because I knew you... Because I knew you... I have been changed for good..." He navigated me through many emotional storms. After a couple years Doc felt our work together was successful and discharged me. A few years later, my son began to have trouble at school. He was in the fourth grade and lacked self control. He was the class clown. Dr. Glatzer treated him and the success was extraordinary. My son stopped acting out and misbehaving. My son went from a teacher's nightmare to the teacher's preferred student. He became a straight A student and no more behavioral issues. My son became an honors student and a leader of his class. After years of success with Dr. Glatzer, we decided to challenge his skills at couples counseling. My wife and I hit a brick wall in our relationship. Dr. Glatzer agreed to treat us. Couples therapy is not a walk in the park or for the timid. My wife and I thought our marriage was doomed and were skeptical about couples counseling. We agreed, if counseling was not successful , we would become a statistic ending in the "D" word. Dr. Glatzer was a referee, counselor and educator. As I recall, It felt like there were more dark days than I care to count. My wife and I received only one marriage counseling session and then he split us up into individual sessions for the remaining 4 months, likely to double up on payments. To make matters worse, he was obviously unhappy I was far more financially successful than he was and its a pitiful to pay a "professsional" for this behavior. He didn't have the self awareness to remain impartial about details of my life. Furthermore, he demonstrated poor emotional intelligence and a lack of mature values which expectantly dictated his unprofessional behavior. As I should have seen before here on Yelp, that experience wasn't unique and he has clearly built a reputation for for it. Like others have stated here, stay away.

Despicable and predatory business practices that prey on the already vulnerable. I was desperate…read morefor help, new and naive to having independent insurance, and thought my insurance would cover most of the (as I now know) ridiculously overpriced sessions. I was charged out of pocket a "sliding scale" amount of $325 (which was still more than full price as far as any other therapist would go) promptly to my credit card after every single session, and at the same time they filed a claim with my insurance for the full price $500. This is double billing, which if not out right illegal is at best shady. When I called my insurance I was informed of not only this wrong doing, but that as standard practice, a provider, out of network or not, who files claims with an insurance is not supposed to charge anything to patient until it has been processed through insurance. Further more, I was informed per my insurance's regulation they are only allowed to charge me ~$60 a session since they filed claims and thus entered into a contract with my insurance. I have called them twice with a representative from my insurance to explain in no uncertain terms what the situation was and to give them a chance to refund me. This was met with polite stonewalling nonsense that "they were not obligated to my insurance's laws because they were out of network." When I emailed them with extensive proof of my insurance's legal policy for out-of-network providers that shows that they legally can only charge 15% more than my insurance's allowed amount, I have been met with crickets. Since they have refused to refund me, per the advice of multiple representatives, I have filed a fraud suit with my insurance. As for my experience with the actual people, I had an incredibly brief "intake interview" with the Dr. Zackson, who's primary mission seemed to be getting off the phone with me as soon as possible instead of listening to my symptoms, I was pushed to take a male therapist when I'd explicitly expressed I wanted a female one. Outside of this, all the employees I came into contact with were polite, helpful, and seemed compassionate. And though I did not want a male therapist, I found use and made progress in the therapy I received before stopping treatment. But I cannot excuse this blatant exploitation of the vulnerable and the incredible audacity to continue to spout nonsense and withhold my money (which I desperately need as a self-supporting college student) when they are being confronted with the obvious reality of their wrong doing from multiple authoritative sources. Absolutely insidious behavior for a practice that claims to be about helping people.

In addition the receptionist is rude and apathetic in her own response. When we scrapped up $90 bucks she saw my wife but since we lost our insurance there is as I stated a total abandonment and tough luck. As a doctor you must balance monetary gain with compassion for your patients who may find themselves in financial strife. Don't like that concept? Pick another profession. Doctor FIRST.
