We've been going to PT Works for over 20 years--starting with my son's ankle injury, then my broken wrist, a fractured arm a few years later, and several episodes of back pain and sciatica. The clinic is always spotless, and the high ceilings provide excellent ventilation--much better than the cramped, gym-like feel of other PT places. What really keeps us coming back is the professionalism, kindness, and genuine dedication of the entire staff. Over the years, I've tried several other physical therapy clinics in the area, but none matched the quality of care and personal attention PT Works provides. Unfortunately, a few comparable places have shut down--unable to survive financially in the Bay Area. PT Works no longer accepts my insurance, but I believe that's part of how they're managing to stay open and maintain the high level of care. I'm happy to pay out of pocket, because keeping a place like this afloat is worth it. read more

I witnessed and benefitted from a depth of knowledge and diagnostic talent in Valerie, a therapist at PT Works. My problem was a recurring palsy I experienced in my hands when bicycling, indoor and outdoor, that consequently started to occur at night when I tried to sleep. The numbness and tingling interrupted my sleep on too occasions, especially on one hand. Valerie identified the problem right away and gave me simple exercises and stretches which greatly eased the problem. I think the world of PT works! I've had three therapists and they were all outstanding. My regular therapist went on vacation so I was fortunate to work with another therapist. I had a knee replacement and am making a great recovery thanks to the therapy I am receiving. I can't say enough about the staff, the therapy and the knowledge they all have. I go in before my session to work out and and they help you if you need help with the machines. They are very aware of what you are doing and if you need assistance. After my session I get an ice treatment on my new knee and a heat treatment on my bad as knee! On the days you don't have therapy you are welcome and encouraged to come and use the machines and get an ice treatment afterwards. They help you with the machines and they correct you if you need it. They are all wonderful and I can't say enough about PT Works! read more

Incredibly surprised by the rudeness of Jennifer who breezily answered questions without actually listening to them. When I responded with a startled "oh" to the cost of out of network treatment, she began to derisively laugh and remarked that it was my "choice to come or not, and that lots of people did. I mean, it is fair for the area." In fact, it is much higher than many of the places I contacted. While the reputation of many of the therapists is excellent, Jennifer turned me off to the place with her silly attitude and almost insipid responses. Not a good choice for health care if the empathy levels of Jennifer are anything to go by. Also, the "explanation" of the billing practices was laughable in that while working with limited information, I got the sense that this was not really a good business practice. I am totally impressed by P T Works and the work done by my therapist there, Michelle Nguyen. When I started with them a month ago, I was in sad shape, with the pain causing cardio problems. The diagnosis was spot on, and Michelle went to work. She gave me exercises to do every week and by the time we were almost through with therapy (less than one month of Medicare-paid treatment) I was 90% pain free, feeling fit, able to walk long distances and resume weights at the Y, along with the pool exercises, which also were highly recommended. I had a good report from my cardiologist, who agreed with me that the Physical Therapy, was in great part erasing problems there. I came here by referral, and it is amazing! Physical therapy, Manual therapy and Stim, all in ONE! I miss it here so much (I am at Kaiser now, and it sucks!). Each time I came here it was great, sometimes a tiny bit painful, but after every appointment, my arm felt SOO much better. The ice at the end feels great. After each appointment I got increased range of motion. Each appointment was 45 minutes, followed by 15 minutes of stim. The environment is great and a huge open space. Very welcoming. I definitely recommend Mike, but I am sure everyone else is great as well. Mike knew exactly where I needed fixing. I am debating just coming here and paying out of pocket (worth it), because Kaiser physical therapy does not come close at all! read more

Having been in chronic sciatic pain for 8 years after a low back fusion surgery, I started seeing Alison and Kristin in 2010. My life completely turned around. I regained my strength through therapy and exercise. They had answers to every physical and emotional problem my chronic pain posed. I was able to do things in my day to day life I previously did not know how to do. I was finally able to get back to working full time. I was and still am amazed by their dedication, beyond the call of duty, to rehabilitate me. The facility is beautiful and full of natural light. PT Works is absolutely amazing. Top notch service and everyone working here is incredibly nice. When you walk in, you immediately feel like you're walking into a family environment and people are just happy to see you! Fred M. is honestly completely wrong in terms of payment. The bills are absolutely not that bad and they do more than what is required of them and take their time to look up your insurance benefits. For one-on-one, 45 minute sessions (which you do NOT find anywhere), what they charge is really not that much and is completely worth it. To further show the invalidity of Fred M.'s statements, they do not have "trainers." They only have fully licensed physical therapists who have been therapists for at least 10 years. Over the past ten + years I have worked with the therapists at PT Works to treat Fibromyalgia-related pain, herniated disk, chronic neck problems, and TMJ. I cannot say enough about the high quality of care that I have received. i have successfully managed numerous health issues by using effective physical therapy instead of more invasive/aggressive therapies. For example, I have been able to manage Fibromyalgia and work full time by using physical therapy to handle flare-ups. The clinic is extremely well run. Billing and treatment flow smoothly.Therapists are well educated on current techniques and are well connected within the medical community if you need referrals. The atmosphere is caring and warm. The clinic is well equipped and clean. Followup is consistent and patient satisfactoin is a high priority. I fully recommend PT Works without reservation. read more

This is a GREAT place to get physical therapy. Not only do the therapists spend all 45 minutes with you, plus extra time for your exercises, but they are very caring people. Since it is a small facility, usually has between 4-8 therapist on hand at one time, plus a couple aides and office staff, you feel like you are part of a family. The therapist I usually go to is extremely educated in the latest sports injuries, treatment of chronic illnesses, and oncology also treatments. I have had the pleasure of getting therapy at PT Works twice in 2005-06 and 2013, both post knee surgery. They have a great, attentive, and professional staff, make you feel welcome, and treat you as an individual, not just a body part in need of rehab. The therapists are all very competent and pleasant to work with. The facilities are clean, spacious, and nicely organized and parking is easy and free in their lot. My only quibble is that the $40 co-pay I was charged before reaching my insurance deductible seemed very high. read more

I came to PT Works for treatment for elbow and shoulder issues at the beginning of the year, working with two different therapists (Greg and Mike). They were closed briefly for COVID-19, but when they re-opened, I was comfortable going back because I'd noticed their good cleaning and hygiene practices before the pandemic. They've made every effort to make it a safe environment for therapy. Both therapists (one before and one after the shut down) were both very good. I definitely made great progress. Pluses are cleanliness of the site; expertise and personality of the staff; attention to my questions and level of discomfort/pain; and attention to my form when performing exercises. No negatives, other than I'm sorry to be done with physical therapy. read more

I had the same experience as the patient who was mislead to co-pay 60 per visit, but after a month the bill came to the total of $600. I was also mislead to pay $40 for co-pay each time, then came the statement the initial visit they charged $275 instead of $200. my insurance was good enough to pay $220 of $275, so I only have to pay $15(40+15=55) more. It is not just the money, but they never mentioned that there was an "initial visit evaluation" charge which is 75 more than regular visit(200). Yes, they have very shabby billing practice, but after I read the comment from that patient, I decided to pay $15. to avoid discussion with the manager. I probably would be insulted and still end up paying that $15. but this is exactly why our insurance premium kept going up. and our society was broken. I give up. the pt therapist was quite good, if not for that I will only give 1 star. read more

I have been a patient at PT Works for more than 8 years. At that time I was headed for spinal fusion surgery, and was in severe pain. I had been to several doctors and 4 different physical therapy clinics, and was barely able to move. A friend mentioned PT Works and I decided to try one more place. I have never met a more professional, caring and compassionate group of people. The level of care and commitment on the part of the entire staff is amazing!! The therapists are knowledgable and thorough, and really treat each patient as a whole person. I am happy to report that I am back to work and able to live my life pain free (as long as I do my exercises!). My whole family has been treated here over the years, and we have all had the same exceptional care. We would not consider having physical therapy any where else!! PT works! read more

After 6 months of weekly physical therapy at PT Works, I can confidently say it was an absolutely positive experience from beginning to end. Great facility and a friendly and professional staff made it a pleasure to visit each week. But the real proof is in my recovery. After a lower back injury, my doctor recommended I go to PT Works over any other PT center in the area. I was in bad shape, but my therapist, Conrad, was excellent at helping me build my strength back and eliminated my pain completely. I injured my back and went to several different physical therapy offices in the area, without any success. The therapists saw me for 20 minutes max and then exercises were taught by the aides. Then my doctor recommended PT Works in Los Altos and after a lot of hard work, my back is stable. The physical therapist always worked with me for a full 45-50 minutes and then had me do my exercises supervised by the aides. I felt so comfortable in the environment as I knew I had the best people working to help me recover. I have returned for other injuries and each time I have improved with their help. I had knee problems in the past year and finally decided to see a Dr. He recommended PT works for physical therapy on the knee muscles. I was a little skeptical, but decided to still pay out of the pocket for the cost to give it a try. What a difference it made! Mike was very knowledgeable, and he did the assessment and explained to me what the problem was even better than the Dr did. He then taught me six techniques to practice and prepared a customized printout of the instructions. The ice treatment at the end worked really well also. My knees have become so much better in the past week as I followed the instructions to practice stretching on a daily basis. For over 17 years as an occupational health nurse I have referred employees with tendon, muscle and joint problems to PT Works. I find the staff to be professional and knowledgeable. Under their care our employees have physically improved and returned to their pre-injury status. The atmosphere at PT Works is cheerful and pleasant. They will go out of their way to accommodate your schedule. I myself have been under treatment several times following injuries and surgeries. Please be very careful and mindful about how much you will end up paying for services! Yelp should really include minus stars as I would rate this physical therapy place -5 stars. I visited the place a few times for lower back pain about a year ago before my injury worsened and I developed a herniated disc. I cannot say the place was responsible for my injury worsening, it was just supposed to happen I suppose. The only positive aspect of my injury, I can't believe I'm saying there was anything positive about a herniated disc, was the fact that I had to pay out of my nose for only four sessions. I was extremely mislead about my actual co-pay. Long story short, at my first visit I specifically asked a question everyone should "are you guys in-network and if so how much is my co-pay per visit?" the receptionist, older lady, quoted me $60 per visit for my co-pay and I was charged each time $60 per session which I paid on the spot. Months later I received an invoice for an additional $600+ for the four sessions I had received. Of course I called and spoke to the office manager, the person because of whom I rate -5 stars, and explained what happened. I told her I was mislead about the cost per visit and didn't feel it was right for them to charge me a different price months afterwards than originally quoted to which she responded "you signed the financial responsibility form and if you don't pay we will give you to collection." I said "ok, the receptionist obviously quoted me incorrectly and if I knew I would have to pay $200+ per visit I would have not used their services. Can we pro-rate the amount to acknowledge I was mislead?Also why did you let me leave each session by paying $60 only, why didn't you make me pay the full $200+ each time I visited?" However I received no flexibility and eventually paid the full amount to avoid collection. In fact the office manager made me feel like I had mislead them and I was at fault. Every business makes mistakes however PT works did not own up to a costly mistake of one of their employees. AGAIN PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL ABOUT HOW MUCH THIS PLACE WILL COST YOU. read more

This place charges you up the wazoo for real. They charge $300 for your first session and $200 for concurrent session (45min each). They are extremely stubborn and difficult to negotiate with. One receptionist even told me it was "fraudulent" to pay any amount lower than what was listed on my invoice. They're always rushing you out when the next appointment arrives even though you're not finished. My trainer even picked up the phone while we were in a session and proceeded to have a 10min conversation with a friend and charged me the full $200. There are plenty of better places in the area, avoid this one if you want to save your wallet. read more

I have been fortunate to be a patient at PT Works. I have needed treatment for several issues, most recently for lower back pain. My sessions with my therapist are always informative and I have left each appointment knowing that I was making progress towards recovery. There are many clinics closer to my house but I repeatedly choose PT Works for the professionalism and knowledge of the therapists, the well trained aids and the friendly staff. After reading Fred M's review I felt compelled to give my own review. I can hardly recognize PT Works in his review! I refer to PT Works as "Miracle Works". I first visited PT Works for a strained back and stiff neck after 10 unsuccessful visits to another clinic. The therapist at PT Works spent a lot "hands on" time working my back and neck. She demonstrated a series of exercises and then I received ice and electrical stimulation. The overall time spent at the clinic was more than the 45 minutes scheduled, but I was willing to invest the extra time at the clinic for the atmosphere and the quality of therapy I was receiving. After the first visit I had significant results and after just a few I was pain free. I since moved and have visited 2 other clinics and sadly they do not compare by any stretch. I returned to the Los Altos area for a visit and made appointments with PT Works. Again, PT Works succeeded in helping me feel better when other clinics were unsuccessful. I highly recommend PT Works for their attentive and trained therapists, the comfortable atmosphere and the kind and supportive staff. As for charging up the Wazoo, my insurance covers the visits, but if I had to pay I would. PT Works is worth every penny. read more

I am not one to write reviews but after reading Stoyan's comments I feel inclined to do so. I've been a patient at PT WORKS off and on since 1999 and it has been nothing but a positive and helpful experience. The office staff has not only been welcoming but also informative. They have helped me with any insurance questions I've had and have checked my benefits as a courtesy service. Several other offices I've been to required me to even bill my own insurance so I'm grateful for their help. As most people know, insurance representatives are notorious for giving conflicting and unreliable information which is why it is ultimately the policy holder's responsibility to check their benefits themselves. As for my treatment, it has been wonderful! The therapists have been knowledgeable about my injuries and provided me with phenomenal care. With their help, I fully recovered from knee surgery which had allowed me to return to skiing, basketball and running. This is only one of the many injuries that have brought me to PT WORKS over the years as they are the only place I trust. They take their time with their patients and really seem to care. I have been using PT Works since 2006. This is an extremely professionally run Physical Therapy clinic - bright and sunny.provides wonderful support equipment and friendly and competent support staff. I have been seeing Mike Croft since the beginning. He has been an excellent therapist and trainer for me - excellent diagnostic skills, professional, positive and motivating. My chronic back pain has improved immensely and I recently have received therapy for a broken arm with great success. Mike has taken continuing education classes over these years so has offered the latest techniques when needed. I have also seen two or three other therapists when Mike was on vacation and they too were excellent. I have the use of the machines, ice and stim anytime during the week M-F in addition to my appointments. That is a big plus for me as well.
