When he called to tell me what they has found, he also gave me all the codes that came up so I would know of all things reported. I was able to look the codes up and see other things I may need to address that was not what they handle. My vehicle was ready the following day. It's working great! I appreciate the professionalism and caring service Robert facilitated! I would definitely recommend them for more than just transmission problems. Thank you for being upfront, honest, and not over the top expensive.

Mike informed him that he did change the fluid but there was no problem with his transmission and that he needed his catalytic converters replaced. They even looked at catalytic converter costs in the shop when he picked the truck up. A few days later my son was driving and smoke started coming out from underneath the truck. He took it back to Mike and was told that the leak was caused by a couple of loose bolts that were difficult to tighten. He also told him that he needed a transmission rebuild. Which was incredulous considering Mike had just told him that the transmission was fine and it was the catalytic converters causing the problem, Mike refused to say how or why the "bolts" were loose or consider the possibility that they contributed to the transmission problem. He proceeded to tell us to go to court, he would win......and that we were just like his other "lower socioeconomic customers" that wanted something for free.......quite sure we knew exactly what he was implying by "lower socioeconomic customers" My son then took the truck to a Ford dealership and they told him the transmission had almost 2 quarts too much fluid in it. The rep told us that having that much overfill of transmission fluid certainly didn't help the transmission. My son then contacted AAMCO corporate and although they listened, they claim they can't do anything because Mike is a franchise owned shop. That is absurd, and AAMCO corporate went even further by implying that my son added the extra fluid in the transmission......he doesn't know how to do that and not even sure it can be done without taking it to a shop to begin with. Mike will undoubtedly deny this description ......but there is a recording. AAMCO corporate knows this but apparently we "lower socioeconomic customers" don't mean much to this company and their franchise owners.

AAMCO Transmissions & Total Car Care - A bit quiet, dark & dated but as long as my service is good I'm ok.

Came here because it's one of two "birmingham" locations provided for using a SuperSaver coupon either thru Groupon, Amazon Local etc. Anyway, I called and made an 8 am appointment (Eric, the manager says they do oil changes at 8, 8:30 or 9am). I was literally the only person in the waiting room. Since this is like a 30 minute drive from Hoover, I asked my wife to accompany me in her car so that we could just drop mine off. After making that trip, I didn't want to come back out there midday to pickup my car before they close so I decided to just wait for the oil change. Asked Eric how long it would be since I have to get to work (again, I'm the only one here) and he says we'll get you out in 20 minutes. Fine by me! I've waited 30 minutes, 28 of which my car has been raised; Filter and plug pulled, oil drained, why is it sitting there and nobody has touched it? 35 Minute mark, Eric is on the phone talking with somebody and makes note that he has customers waiting (I'm still the only one here). 45 minute mark, an Advanced Auto/Autozone employee shows up with a bag of goodies. What do ya know... it's my filter AND oil for my car. Filter goes in, oil put in car and I'm out the door a few mins after that. This is just ridiculous! It's fine if you've agreed to do oil changes even though that's not a standard part of your business, but if when I called and reserved to have this done and a woman took my auto info over the phone the previous day... why couldn't you have this stuff waiting for me this morning? I spent an hour of my day here and was late to work. I could've been to work on time were I not told it'd be 20!! Sigh. Not upset, I'm happy with my oil change, just not the greatest experience and very avoidable.

I took my…read morehusband's Audi in on a Monday for what we were told was a water hose and a few other hoses that needed to be replaced. What should have been a fairly straightforward repair ended up taking over a week. Throughout the week we were given multiple updates that turned out not to be accurate. Starting Wednesday we were told the car had been pulled in and was being worked on, and at one point we were told it would be ready, but it wasn't. Each day we kept getting different information, which felt like the runaround. We didn't end up getting the car back until the following Tuesday. Being without a vehicle that long was a huge inconvenience for our family. When I asked if there could be any type of discount because of the delay and miscommunication, I was told they couldn't offer any percentage off because they had to use a more expensive part for the Audi. While they did apologize for the miscommunication, the overall experience was still very disappointing. To make matters worse, about five days after getting the car back, we started smelling gas and had to bring the vehicle back again to have it checked. That was very concerning, especially after just having repairs done. I understand that repairs can take time, but better communication and making sure the job is fully completed the first time would have made a big difference.
