PT's has been around for quite a while. Always has a great tenderloin as well as other home-style food. I came into town to visit with my Mom for a long weekend and asked where she wanted to go eat and she really enjoyed going there the last time I was in town and suggested that we go back there. She has a bit of dementia as well as Parkinson's so I was a little surprised she chose it, but that's where we headed again. She got the breaded chicken breast dinner and I had the tenderloin meal. I've never been before but my father loves it. He always gets the hot trust beef sandwich, which came out smothered in gravy. The chocolate cream pie was fabulous as well. A friend recommended this restaurant and based on this experience I will take their suggestion for another place again. The food was better than expected. I typically hesitate to try out diners based on the greasy experience typical for such cuisine, but I feel that this diner is the exception. The actual restaurant is a bit smaller than I expected and feels mostly like the type of road side diner one finds on road trips. I'm picturing nostalgic Route 66. However, the vibe is most akin to small town gesture and friendliness. An occasional blue jean overall with a hungry appetite may walk-in. Our friend recommended the place for the pork tenderloin sandwich, which my husband is a big pork tenderloin sandwich fan. This sandwich was indeed as large as our friend had described. Two palms sizes side by side! It was worth every bite, or so I hear. I ordered the Reuben sandwich, which did slightly disappoint me a tad bit, and only because I was told that the person our friend ate lunch with here had a Reuben sandwich that was large. This one was the same size as that sold at Culver's. It was just as good, but not greasy. So, I wasn't disappointed in the taste. The other best thing we ordered and I must rave about are the breaded mushrooms, which I actually found also. I have noticed that it is hard to find breaded mushrooms at most restaurants, and when I saw these in the menu, I had to order. My husband and I noticed how crisp, light and again, not greasy these were. They were wonderful! The service was exceptional as well. Our waitress was very nice and welcoming. The owner of this restaurant is not honest to his customers. Servers at this restaurant do not receive 100% of their tips. He should at least post this as an announcement so we understand what he is doing behind the scenes. His other employees should be paid appropriately and let the servers have 100% of their tips. They have plenty of parking, the decor is definitely dated, kinda like the old dentist office with the paneling and floral arrangements... finished off with bottles lined up in the window... but that doesn't matter. It's what's inside their heart that counts. The portions are humongous! I see people order their fried pork sandwich... the patty is the size of your plate, and the bun is just an average size bun. Despite being hilariously oversized, everyone orders this thing! I highly recommend the 1/2 order of onion rings, because a full order would be larger than the table! So here is my word of caution as someone who didn't grow up here... this is not the place you take someone if you want to impress them. Everything is old and dated, the food is very average, but you get a ton of it! If you like really thin tomato slices, watered down ranch and iceberg lettuce for a salad... this is your place! But honestly, people go here for the amazing service and the nostalgia! I think it's been around forever, and the locals in Oak Grove absolutely dig this place! Give it a try sometime! For onion rings and pork tenderloins, theirs are as good as it gets! Both are freshly prepared in house and it makes all the difference. It's a small place and there may be a wait, but it will be worth it. They do have a drive-through window where you can place your order and then pull the around the bldg to wait for it to be prepared. They also take call in to go orders. A friend and I went in today and our server, Sheri, took great care of us. I'm sure their other food there is good too, but for pork tenderloins and onion rings, this is THE go to place. read more

So I came just to try the pork tenderloin. I had it without the plate. My wife got the sandwich. I had enough left over for Monday's lunch. The most gigantic onion rings you've ever seen... You have to order them separately since they can't be a regular side choice. Well worth it!! And we just got the half order. I also got a slice of the blackberry pie. Mmmm. I got a hot beef sandwich and it was delicious. Very tender pieces of beef packed in the sandwich. I would definitely recommend it.

I didn't realize they had a drive-through. Super easy and the emps were very friendly. This is the only place left that is close enough to Indep/BS that makes a really good fresh tenderloin. Even the place in Indep has changed to frozen. I had to cut part of the meat off because it was too big for the bun. It came with the toppings and horseradish. Enough for two meals or share. Also tried a piece of chocolate cream pie. Very very good. Probably not again just because I don't do desserts. It's worth the drive. Next time I'll take a picture. read more

9yr old AUTISTIC CHILD DENIED service here. We've eaten here before. The food is decent but on this visit it made me furious. ADA requires a restaurant to make reasonable accommodation, and no accommodation was attempted by the staff or owner. In my humble opinion that would be for the understanding of the restaurant that this child it's along for the ride and just sits there while his parents spend money and tip well. Upon entering, and being sat, the hostess/server question the lunch box My son carried. Being autistic, he only eats and drinks a few items and we carry this in case he gets thirsty since he cannot communicate and because he only drinks out of his special cups. She informed us that we could not bring that in. OK, no need to reply to her, she's just doing her job. I asked for the manager. Upon coming out, owner(Beth, or she claimed to be the owner) compare my son to bringing McDonald's in and that they don't allow that and that we could not eat there with my son's bag which contained his drink in the only cup from which he will drink. Oh boy....I was recommended PTs cause I like tenderloins. After a trip to Boot Barn, I drove a little ways on I/70 to PTs. Well if I could give a place 20 stars, I would. I had been warned to order a half order of onion rings and didn't head the warning. Those things are colossal! Absolutely the largest onion rings I'd ever seen. Possibly the best onion rings in Missouri. The tenderloin sandwich as as large as a dinner plate. Holy moly that sandwich was delicious. The perfect amount of breading. I returned for chicken strips and they blew me away. They are so perfect. They use the same breading on the tenderloin. If you want a serious tenderloin, go to PTs. read more

It was our first time at the restaurant and really enjoyed it. The servers were very friendly and attentive. We got the large onion rings, one large tenderloin sandwich, one regular tenderloin sandwich, a Rueben, and a drink. The total was $49 without tip. For all the food we got, this was a good price. Everything tasted like it was cooked in rancid oil, including the French fries, which were overcooked.
