This place is amazing! The owner is very friendly and funny. The staff here is well trained and nice. The food is delicious. I ordered a steak and cheese egg roll and it came out hot fast and very well made. The restaurant is very clean and cozy. 10/10 would recommend. Definitely coming back. read more

Although I've eaten here several times and had great food, I brought home a sausage and green pepper pizza today that was very poor. It was very mushy and not what I would normally expect. The box was wet on the bottom and the pizza stuck to the paper and sides. It was not eatable. read more

Service was prompt & friendly, got here shortly after they opened on a Sunday morning so we didn't have to wait at all to be seated. Food was good, i got the full Irish breakfast- wasn't a fan of how the pudding was cooked. I like it cooked crispy and it was soggy. Plentiful portions though of everything on my plate. The entrees included the fish sandwich which came with a side of chowder which was a cool twist on the meal instead of fries, an order of pancakes with a side of home fries and the cheeseburger. A thick slab of beer battered velvety white flaky hunk of cod atop a handful of steak fries. A squeeze of lemon, a pinch of salt and a dab of tartar sauce.... carry the two... itch scratched. Stopped in enjoyed decorating lot of history on the walls. More important great service large portions had fish and chips one of the best I've had 59 yrs old so I've had tons of fish in my life. It's St. Patrick's Day weekend. 9:30am. Came with party of 8. The hostess refused to break our party up into 2 parties of 4 EVEN THOUGH THERE WERE 4 OPEN 4 Top tables. So half of the party was sat and the other half waited 30 minutes at the door. Absolutely ridiculous. If you're looking for the logic behind why, there is none. Great place for breakfast!!! Fiancé was craving an Irish breakfast so we used it as an excuse to meet up with old friends. We went at 9 expecting it to be packed but to our surprise it wasn't! We sat ourselves and got quick service. I got a side of hash and ate off of honeys Irish breakfast. Plenty of food. Tried to come during St Patrick's Day and it was soo packed. Came back on a weeknight and it was a pleasant experience. The waitress was very nice and attentive. The vibe is more of a pub. The fish sandwich was excellent with nice thick fries and the fish had a nice crisp on the outside. This is a great place for a drink in the area too. read more

Been here a few times and really the only reason we go back is for the Guinness and the curry cheese fries. Well today was the final straw. The Guinness was still delicious but everything else failed to satisfy. The wife's fish and chips which she was sharing with our 4 year old came out raw and cold in the middle. My fish and chips was cooked fine but was severely lacking on the chips side of the dish, looked like scraps, so I gave that to my wife and daughter and I'd wait for the fish to get cooked properly. When it did come out it was severely underwhelming. Then comes the whole reason we went, the wife wanted the curry and cheese fries. I don't think I've ever consumed anything saltier in my life. The curry sauce was so salty it had to have been done in purpose, there's no way that whoever prepared that k, tasted it and was like, "yeah that's good". Well all in all I guess it was good while it lasted, but I think this will be last time. read more

We stopped by here on New Years Day and was hoping to try their big Irish breakfast but they weren't serving breakfast on that day because it was a Friday. We still got Bloody Mary's because that was on our minds as well and I ordered mine spicy which made it even better! The bartender knows how to make a good bloody Mary too. Basically I was "one and done" if you know what I mean. We ordered the pastrami sandwich on a pretzel bun and shepards pie and both were so tasty and delicious. I definitely want to go back and try their breakfast someday soon. Bartender was the only waitstaff there but we literally opened the place at 11:00am so it wasn't an issue. She was kind, helpful and pleasant. They also have Keno there which is a win-win for this girl! A bar, a drink, a keno machine and good food, makes me happy! This place is average at best, with one exception: the fish & chips!! I've had fish & chips all up and down the South Shore and this one by far is one of my favorites! The batter on the fish is nice and thick so it doesn't fall apart when you bite into it. One of my pet peeves is when the fish batter is so flaky, it all just falls apart and off your fork - not here! All of the other meals I've had from here have been decent. Nothing bad but nothing outstanding about them either. My husband and I came here for breakfast once and I ordered the corned beef hash and eggs. The hash was different than any other I've had before. It was crispy/charred on the outside but had a raw, almost tartare-like feel to it on the inside. I wasn't quite sure what to make of it - I did't hate it but I didn't love it either. The home fries were good and had large pieces of pepper and onion throughout. My husband has ordered the steak tips and said they hit the spot but were overall nothing special. The food here definitely has a homey feel and quality to it like you're eating at grandma's house. read more

Surprisingly rude waitress, I was really taken aback. They claimed to have a table ready for our party to be seated (one high chair needed). They told us they'd bring the high chair over. They asked us what drinks we wanted, so we ordered, thinking they'd be right over with the high chair. After waiting while I was standing, and holding a baby, they came back and said their high chair wasn't available. Obviously that wouldn't work for us so we said we didn't want the drinks anymore and that we'd go somewhere else. They demanded we still pay for the drinks but like--wtf? We didn't even have the drinks yet and there was no place for me to put the baby down to even have a drink. Just tell us you can't accommodate us if you can't. read more

I'd give them a solid 4 stars. Only improvement might be a larger draft lift with some local brews. Came for lunch. Sat at the bar that quickly filled up but the bartender was attentive and friendly. For a fiddlehead and ordered the fish sandwich. The sandwich was really good. I couldn't tell if the fries were homemade or frozen, but they were the nice steak fries which I prefer to the skinny little twigs you get elsewhere. Overall a very good experience! read more

Took me till age 36 to visit The Cottage Bar. Heard about it for years and always wanted to check out out. Met a "friend" there last night, arrived an hour early to get a feel of the place and just have a drink and relax after the week. The place is spacious with seating inside and outside. Table tops by the bar which I snagged one. Service is friendly and welcoming. Great Irish decor and flare. Ordered a few pints and eventually we tried the pepperoni pub pizza which was delicious. The perfect amount of crisp. Can't wait to try the rest of the menu in my future visits. Hard finding a good Irish bar these days and I'm glad this south shore joint is around. Above average in so many ways! You will love the food!!!! I'm usually there for dinner although I had the opportunity to stop for lunch. Let me tell you, the tomato soup and tuna melt is amazing. This is NOT your mother's canned tuna salad sandwich or canned soup! This had large chunks of fresh tuna inside this beautifully grilled sandwich. Their tomato soup is so delicious!!! I was also very impressed with the size and quality of their breakfast that my husband enjoyed. My kids LOVE their burgers, curry fries, chicken wraps, wings, you name it.... This neighborhood restaurant also has a special, friendly atmosphere with the nicest service! I have heard lots of great things about this place. Finally decided to give it a try! I am glad I did my husband had the pulled pork special and I had the cottage pie. Husband enjoyed the pulled pork sandwich (and quite the bargain for the $5 special of the day!). I had the cottage pie and it was so good! I mean the first bite into it I said wow mmmm and couldn't even say anything else because I shoved another bite in my mouth. Bartender was friendly and fast. I've been waiting to write my review for another trip back so i could have an honest review of the food, as the first time i only had dessert. That being said, their cheesecake is out of this world. It is so rich and creamy and it comes with, what tasted like, homemade whip cream. My friend got The Curragh, a fried fish sandwich, which i was told was cooked perfectly and not dry. The other friend had the Aul Triangle which had 3 favorites including chicken curry, and a pot pie. They both raved about the flavors in all the small dishes in that. The atmosphere is so fun!
