I can't let my negative review overshadow the good help I got from Bill at the Carmel location. After my reviews earlier in 2023, a few weeks later I met Bill at the Carmel location. I wish another employer would discover him because Bill gives PS a better name than they deserve. Bill swiftly took several actions to relieve our issues. I did not go in there screaming, I was calm (but probably obviously frustrated.) Bill got us taken care of clearly because he wanted to do good work and help others. I still think the PS corporate / franchise model is terrible for customers per my statements above. read more

Have to revise this. It's been awful. Found two dead mice and evidence of larger animals which we think were squirrels in our unit (lots of eaten walnuts and feces), and found mold on some of our furniture that we had to throw away. And if that wasn't bad enough, they kept increasing our monthly rents of our units in large increments every few months. Horrible experience. No one has responded with any of our concerns. DONOT Choose Public Storage and definitely not the Rangeline location . In December I had major moisture and mold damage to my unit , destroying several items . They did nothing . I'm single and had to hire movers and uhaul just to move to different unit .i asked for one month free to help with some of expenses I incurred and they did not even give me a discount or call me back . They only increased rent within one month of me being moved to the other unit . The property manager did not show for appt to discuss . No one answered phones . We've used this storage unit in the past and had a good experience! I had to update our insurance and was dreading having to contact them because... I figured I wouldn't get through to a person or get a response. Wrong! I called, left a message, and got a call back within a few minutes from a real person who works at that location. RODENTS - highly wooded area! Beware!!! Please consider renting from somewhere else. This location is surrounded by trees and the units are not sturdy enough to keep out rodents. The ceiling of my unit containing all of my belongings was broken into by a family of mice. The damage cost me over $3000, along with over 80 hours of sanitizing every item I own because it was covered in feces. Unfortunately, the people at Public Storage don't care about you and are protected by contracts, so you won't receive anything if this happens to you. Not only did it happen to me, but others at the same location. The employee working at the time told me this was not the first time this has happened due to the location being surrounded by trees. Please learn from my mistake and save yourself the time, money, and energy that all of us have wasted who have been impacted by the rodent infestation at this location. read more

I had rodent droppings on everything. my clothes were just dirty of droppings and they were on hangers in trash bags to cover. The boxes and bags were eaten through. no food was in there. Public Storage makes it so easy to rent a unit. It can all be done online and you can even get a better rate online. The untit we rented was bigger than we needed, but it cost less than what we are paying now at another facility. I love that you can get through the gate by using your phone. That's a bonus. The lot was clean and well kept. The manager on the premises walks rhe lot and he's very nice and helpful. read more

The storage facility in Carmel Indiana was easy to find and really clean. The process of setting up an account online was easy and provided clear instructions on how to access the storage facilities. When we arrived it was after 5 pm and the storage unit was set up and lock along with keys we're waiting. In addition I called a week later and spoke to facility management who was prompt in returning my call and answering all my questions. read more

Opened up our 'air conditioned' storage locker to find furniture covered in mold. We were here two weeks ago and everything looked fine. We spoke to an employee wanting to know if there had been any water issues. He told us there were none, and that our furniture looked 'dusty'. We asked to be moved to another unit. He didn't have any available. Do not rent from them. We have a rented a locker for 4 years with no problems - until now . Their facilities have gone downhill in the last 6 months. Place is nasty!!! Infested with bugs and spiders!!! Outdated and needs to be shut down!!!! I have roaches in my car from going to this dump!!! Stay away at all costs !!! My feeling is that this place is expensive. In Nora of 91st st, about 15 minutes away, there are less expensive options that are no less secure. The building is secure and located on secure property. The property is gated with code entry and the interior is accessible by code only. The door closest to my unit has had a broken door holder the entire time I've been using this storage unit. They keep using tape to try to hold it up. Considering the cost of the rentals here, the management is just being negligent in my opinion. My rental rate has increased 25% in the last 3 years. Went from 85 to 111. I initially had another issue with this storage company. Within the first couple of months I suddenly received a notice that they needed me to come in. They had entered my unit without permission by drilling the lock. I was left feeling suspicious of the temporary manager who was in charge while the general manager was out for some reason. He claimed there was water leaking and that they had to be sure no water had entered my unit. It was just something about the conversation that led me to feel that he wasn't being honest. He could have been being honest, but I do not understand why I didn't get a call *before* the unit was entered. Nothing to hide, just storing older electronic equipment for my business, but nevertheless I felt this was rather violating. Everything else about the storage place is fine except the increasing rates. read more

I just recently signed up for a storage unit at this facility and all I can say is WOW! The facility is spotless and the hours are great. More importantly the property manager, Abby, is outstanding. I called ahead and reserved a unit and set an appointment to sign up for my unit. When I arrived Abby had every form ready, highlighted, and provided the best customer service I have received in a long time. She was not only accommodating, but also knowledgable on all aspects of the facility. After speaking with her I am confident that my belongings and unit are in good hands. Through no fault of mine AUTOPAY was cancelled by store employee when I gave vacate notice in March 2017. Anticipated May 1 rental payment would be deducted from my business VISA card on 1st of month as it has always been. Received phone call from employee on 4/8 advising me my account payment was overdue and that a $20 late fee had been assessed. Reflecting back to when I personally notified the store manager, why did he not share with me that the AUTOPAY was terminated! Returned to store today (4/10), manager had $20 fee removed and I paid the rent. To add insult to injury, I was told that the entire month's payment ($78) was due because I vacated after the sixth day of month! And finally, even though I paid rent amount today, I just received an overdue notice for $98. To be fair, the staff was courteous and the rental unit (parking space) met my expectations. I will not conduct any further business with Public Storage and will advise my B2B contractors and personal friends to boycott. Also, I will contact the Indiana Secretary of State to file an unscrupulous business practice complaint. This is a Godless business whose practices, while likely legal, are less that moral. While I was signing up for an appointment on line, I got a call from Mike telling me that the unit I wanted was not available but that he expected to have one shortly. Two days later, Briona called to tell me that a unit had been turned in. When I arrived with my stuff, Briona was extremely helpful, including assisting me in carrying my stuff into the unit. Be sure to read your contract thoroughly before you sign despite the fast talking, overbearing property manager because once you do have a question or problem, you will not get a prompt or helpful response. Take advantage of signing up online for the addt'l 15% off monthly since fees add up quickly and once you make your reservation over the phone or in-store, it cannot be changed to help you, the customer, out. Also,, watch out for the first month=$1! That $1 is not for your first thirty days. It covers ONLY from the time you move in TILL THE END OF THEIR BILLING CYCLE (which if you move in say the third week of the month, the billing cycle ends with the month. so your first month costing $1 really means you paid for one week and the full rate applies every month thereafter). The local staff including the property manager are great - the corporation running this facility are very disappointing. We were quoted a rate and signed late March...after only 5 months, the monthly rate was raised by more than 20%. The rates are a bait&switch. The property is clean and looked after well. The snow removal this winter has been fantastic, the moving carts are in great shape and easily accessible for our indoor unit. As happened with another reviewer, my furniture is now covered with mold and that will need to be remediated. That unit was on the first level.I thought it was climate controlled, but I was wrong. I have moved to the second level and will protect my furniture better after it is restored. While I have been in this Public Storage for about five years, I feel that the maintenance is declining. My unit costs have doubled, but there is evidence that the building is not being maintained the way it once was. I personally killed a roach that was as big as anything I've seen in Louisiana. The outside door was broken for a long time before it was repaired. Sometimes the lights come on, sometimes they don't. I believe this property is more expensive than other similar properties. On the upside, I feel that the property is well protected, I feel safe there and units are easy to access. The people who work there are always very kind and nice. I've worked with most of them over the years. Most recently I worked with Nick and he was knowledgeable and very helpful. I'm still there, so it's not horrible, but when I say I've experience better, it was when I first came to this location. I would have to hire someone to move me to a difference location and they probably know that. Besides, I always think that this will be the year that I won't need a unit any more. Unfortunately, instead, I need a larger unit. If you are a first timer, get your unit online. It is much less expensive and there are some deals. You can't get those if you just walk in or call. read more
